Book Wind Turbine Icing

Download or read book Wind Turbine Icing written by Yan Li and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2023-11-29 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes six chapters on wind turbine icing. For wind turbines operating in cold regions, icing often occurs on blade surfaces in winter. This ice accretion can change the aerodynamic shape of the blade airfoil, causing performance degradation and loss of power generation, even leading to operational accidents. This book focuses on the recent research progress on wind turbine icing. Chapters address such topics as the effect of icing conditions on the icing distribution characteristics of a blade airfoil for vertical-axis wind turbines, power loss estimation in wind turbines due to icing, wind turbine icing prediction methods, especially those using machine learning, the icing process of a single water droplet on a cold aluminum plate surface, the main theories of the icing adhesive mechanism, and theoretical and experimental studies on the ultrasonic de-icing method for wind turbine blades. This book is a valuable reference for researchers and engineers engaged in wind turbine icing and anti-icing research.

Book Prevention and Control of Culvert Icing

Download or read book Prevention and Control of Culvert Icing written by Kevin L. Carey and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory field inspections and data collection on icing conditions and methods of control prior to 1966 provided background to the overall study. A literature survey, covering primarily American and Russian experience, and a survey by questionnaire of highway maintenance forces in Alaska provided background to a field study of icing prevention and control covering four winter seasons in Alaska. Climatological, culvert temperature, ground temperature and hydrologic data were collected at Grenac, Steele and Flume Creeks near Fairbanks, Alaska, to extend understanding of icing phenomena. Field trials were conducted at Bear Creek, Grenac Creek, Steele Creek, Moose Creek and Gakona Spring to test three expedient techniques for controlling icing: electric heating cables, channel improvement and channel covers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When in 1 980 I wrote the foreword to The Art of Roya//cing I wished my friend Audrey Holding every success for her book; I was convinced that its appearance would fill a real gap in the literature then available by providing a comprehensive but simple and practicable guide to the techniques used in royal icing. Now. six years later. with The Art of Roya//cing sold widely throughout the world. I know that Audrey's second book on this subject is assured of success. In it she has developed many of the ideas presented in her first book. and she takes the cake-decorator through the stages of intricate techniques which would normally be regarded as beyond the competence of the amateur. With Audrey's guidance (and lots of patient practice!) we can all become experts. JUNE ELWOOD M. lnst. B. B. , M. e. FA(e. G) Cake Artistry Studio. Swinton, Manchester, UK v Preface My first book. The Art of Royal Icing * set out to explain the craft to those who had no previous knowledge of the subject. In this book. I hope to go one stage further and expand the ideas and techniques formulated in The Art of Royal Icing. especially in relation to runout figure piping. In order to avoid repetition. some basics have been omitted. enabling other areas to be dealt with in greater detail.
