Book Memoirs of Iblis Part 1

Download or read book Memoirs of Iblis Part 1 written by Ali Bekki and published by Ali Bekki. This book was released on with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Memoirs of Iblis (Part One)" by Ali Bekki is a novel deeply rooted in the author's cultural and spiritual heritage, particularly his connection to the Middle East and North Africa. The book aims to offer a unique perspective on Satan, or "Shaitan" in Arabic, portraying him as a complex figure rather than the embodiment of pure evil often depicted in Western traditions. This narrative is more than just a retelling of ancient myths; it explores the intricate dance between good and evil, faith and doubt, and humanity's eternal quest to understand these concepts. The story revolves around Issam, a writer and researcher in mythology who leads a life of relative obscurity. His journey takes him to various corners of the globe, where he encounters many mystical and otherworldly figures, including a character identified as his "Qareen" in Damascus. Issam's experiences blend the real with the supernatural, challenging his perceptions and understanding of the world around him. He is confronted with a series of enigmatic and eerie occurrences, culminating in an encounter with a figure claiming to be Lucifer, who tasks Issam with writing his tale. The novel is rich in symbolism and metaphor, offering a personal and universal narrative. It invites readers from all backgrounds to question their preconceptions and explore new perspectives on the nature of good and evil, truth and knowledge, and the role of ancient beings in the modern world. Through Issam's journey, the author beckons the reader to delve into a realm that intertwines myth with reality, offering a fresh interpretation of ancient stories and characters.

Book Devil in the Detail A Comparison Between Iblis and Lucifer

Download or read book Devil in the Detail A Comparison Between Iblis and Lucifer written by Simone Lohmeier and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2019-04-30 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2017 in the subject Theology - Comparative Religion Studies, grade: 1,7, Ruhr-University of Bochum (CERES), language: English, abstract: This work will outline the most important steps in the creation of the images of a personified devil, starting with the Jewish religion and the earliest appearances of the term Satan. The author will then continue to compare the figures of Lucifer/Satan and Iblis in Islamic and Christian literature, based upon their development, mentioning and role. Evil as a supernatural force is a topic that unites all Abrahamitic religions. Jewish sources about a personified supreme evil as imagined today are scarce, but the image of Satan as the divine adversary and subsequently the idea of Lucifer as a fallen angel in Christian religion is better documented. The Islam knows Iblis as a rebellious angel cast out of heaven by Allah. While all these personifications of evil show some similarities, their development shows some striking differences.

Book The Poetics of Iblis

  • Publisher : Harvard Divinity School

Download or read book The Poetics of Iblis written by Whitney S. Bodman and published by Harvard Divinity School. This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iblīs, the character in the Qur'an who refuses God's command to bow to Adam and is punished by eviction from heaven, is commonly depicted as a fiendish character no different from Satan. However, some Sufi stories describe Iblīs as the ultimate monotheist, a lover of God, but tragically rejected. This volume seeks the origins of this alternative Iblīs within the Qur'an itself, by looking at each of the seven Qur'anic versions of the Iblīs story as a unique rendering of the basic narrative. Whitney Bodman finds that the likely earliest version of the Iblīs story presents him as a tragic figure, an elder sibling of Adam unjustly displaced from God's favor. Subsequent renderings present an Iblīs more hostile to humanity, and in the last two abbreviated versions Iblīs becomes an incidental figure in the extended story of Adam. In modern Arab literature the character of Iblīs is deployed to reveal tragic dimensions of modern life. Although it is often said that there is no place for tragedy in Islam, Bodman's careful examination of the Iblīs story shows that the tragic exists even in the Qur'an and forms part of the vision of medieval Sufi mystics and modern social critics alike.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Peter Lamborn Wilson proposes a set of heresies, a culture of resistance, that dispels the false image of Islam as monolithic, puritan, and two-dimensional. Here is the story of the African-American noble Drew Ali, the founder of “Black Islam” in this country, and of the violent end of his struggle for “love, truth, peace, freedom, and justice.” Another essay deals with Satan and “Satanism” in Esoteric Islam; and another offers a scathing critique of “Authority” and sexual misery in modern Puritanist Islam. “The Anti-caliph” evokes a hot mix of Ibn Arabi’s tantric mysticism and the revolutionary teachings of the “Assassins.” The title essay, “Sacred Drift,” roves through the history and poetics of Sufi travel, from Ibn Khaldun to Rimbaud in Abyssinia to the Situationists. A “Romantic” view of Islam is taken to radical extremes; the exotic may not be “True,” but it’s certainly a relief from academic propaganda and the obscene banality of simulation. "This is my brand of Islam: insurrectionary, elegant, dangerous, suffused with light – a search for poetic facts, a donation from and to the tradition of spiritual anarchy." —Hakim Bey "Peter Lamborn Wilson, in his book Sacred Drift: Essays on the Margins of Islam, offers an interesting window into the early evolution of Islamic ideas among African Americans." —Abbas Milani, New Republic Peter Lamborn Wilson lives in New York and works for Semiotext(e) magazine, Pacifica Radio, and the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics. A long decade in the Orient (1968-1981) inspires his writing, including The Drunken Universe: An Anthology of Persian Sufi Poetry and Scandal: Essays in Islamic Heresy. He also investigates Celtic psychoactive plants in his book Ploughing the Clouds which is also published by City Lights Publishers.
