Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bernese Mountain dogs are the second-largest breed of Sennenhund-type dogs, a group of four breeds developed to assist the herders and dairymen of the Swiss Alps in their daily lives. Not only did Sennenhund dogs like the Bernese Mountain Dog guard livestock, but they also protected the homestead and provided herding and drafting services. Modern-day Bernese are more likely to play the role of devoted companions than farm dogs—a role they excel at due to their affectionate and docile natures. All four of the Sennenhund breeds are hardy, good-natured working dogs with striking tricolored coats, but only the Bernese has gained widespread popularity in the United States. While Bernese Mountain Dogs are generally agreeable canines, early socialization and training are a must to uncover their true potential. This in-depth guide to the affable Bernese Mountain Dog will teach you how to make the most of your canine’s cooperative temperament, and how to avoid problem behaviors before they start. Discover the answers to crucial questions such as: Is a Bernese Mountain Dog the right dog for me? How do I select the right puppy or rescue dog for my household? Book The Book of Help

Download or read book The Book of Help written by Megan Griswold and published by Rodale Books. This book was released on 2019-01-22 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LOS ANGELES TIMES BESTSLLER • WINNER OF THE NAUTILUS BOOK AWARD • “In a world full of spiritual seekers, Megan Griswold is an undisputed all-star. What a delightful journey!”—Elizabeth Gilbert, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Big Magic and Eat, Pray, Love The Book of Help traces one woman’s life-long quest for love, connection, and peace of mind. A heartbreakingly vulnerable and tragically funny memoir-in-remedies, Megan Griswold’s narrative spans four decades and six continents—from the glaciers of Patagonia and the psycho-tropics of Brazil, to academia, the Ivy League, and the study of Eastern medicine. Megan was born into a family who enthusiastically embraced the offerings of New Age California culture—at seven she asked Santa for her first mantra and by twelve she was taking weekend workshops on personal growth. But later, when her newly-wedded husband calls in the middle of the night to say he’s landed in jail, Megan must accept that her many certificates, degrees and licenses had not been the finish line she’d once imagined them to be, but instead the preliminary training for what would prove to be the wildest, most growth-insisting journey of her life.

Book Once Upon a Time There Was a Three Year Old Grandpa

Download or read book Once Upon a Time There Was a Three Year Old Grandpa written by David Janzen and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2024-07-18 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This eccentric title recalls a collection of tales first told to grandchildren at bedtime. Each chapter begins with a fun-to-read farmer-boy story from the 1940s, an era before industrial farming when horses, cows, and chickens were still members of the family. These anecdotes each launch a theme that splashes down with further development in later decades of life. Diverse topics include imaginative play, construction crew humor, animal intelligence, contemplative prayer and journal writing, rural and urban farming, communal wisdom, and affordable housing, along with a few serious pranks and the prophetic mischief that follows. This memoir is also a confession in the pattern of Augustine, reflecting on God’s in-breaking initiatives and the writer’s emerging sense of calling in lifelong conversation with Jesus. Its stories offer a series of curiosity-driven on-ramps into eight decades of transformative experiences for curious souls to ponder an open-eyed faith and a communal way of life for the long haul.

Book HL 181 The Conduct of Lord Hanningfield

Download or read book HL 181 The Conduct of Lord Hanningfield written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Lords: Committee for Privileges and Conduct and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lord Hanningfield's case arose after the Daily Mirror published, in December 2013, articles about Lord Hanningfield spending short periods of time on the parliamentary estate in July 2013 whilst claiming the daily allowance of £300. Following the articles a complaint was made to the Commissioner for Standards. The Commissioner for Standards undertook an investigation which focused on 11 sitting days in July 2013 when Lord Hanningfield was on the Parliamentary estate for fewer than 40 minutes and claimed £300 for each day. The Commissioner found that Lord Hanningfield did not undertake parliamentary work on the days in question and was in breach of the Code of Conduct. The Sub-committee considered the case and recommended that Lord Hanningfield be required to repay the £3,300 he wrongly claimed and that he be suspended from the service of the House until the end of the current Parliament. Lord Hanningfield appealed but the Committee did not uphold the appeal and maintained the original recommendation to pay the £3,300 and be suspended from service of the House
