Book excerpt: What would it be like to live without fear? Join renowned philosopher Dallas Willard as he shares the biblically-backed secret to living with true contentment, peace, and security. In Life Without Lack, Dallas Willard revolutionizes our understanding of Psalm 23 by taking this comfortably familiar passage and revealing its extraordinary promises: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want...Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil." Written with Willard's characteristic gentle wisdom, Life Without Lack helps you experience: God's comforting presence God's abundant generosity Peace and freedom from worry Based on a series of talks by the late author and edited by his friend Larry Burtoft and by his daughter, Rebecca Willard Heatley, Life Without Lack will forever change the way you experience the most well-known passage in all of Scripture. Praise for Life Without Lack: "Dallas Willard helps us to understand that the Twenty-Third Psalm is not meant as a nice sentiment or for kitschy decor, it is for the very thick of our lives, the very moment of crisis. Imagine what our personal lives, families, communities, and politics would look like if we rejected the frantic striving of our day, and instead embraced the life without lack offered to us in Jesus Christ. No one has helped me to imagine and enter into that life more than Dallas Willard. I recommend this book with great joy and hopeful expectation." --Michael Wear, bestselling author of Reclaiming Hope

Book God Will Make A Way Where There Seems To Be No Way

Download or read book God Will Make A Way Where There Seems To Be No Way written by Gina Cardines and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-07-08 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God loves the praises of people and loves it even more when we use our testimonies to glorify his name. When you first become a "new born-again" Christian, with my experience, I was so "on fire" to win souls for the Lord. Every person I met, I was excited to share the gospel using my own true testimonies. When a guest missionary prays for you and gives you a prophetic message and a specific scripture, how seriously do you receive it? For me, after this encounter that I experienced in 1990, I believe it has finally come to pass. The scripture he gave me was Isaiah 49:1""9 (The Work of the Lord's Servant). Since that time, I knew in my heart that my gift was winning souls by sharing my testimonies of how God used me all these years in a mighty way to glorify his name. In some parts of the scripture he shared, it says, "I have placed you here as a light for others...I have chosen you to take my promise of hope to others..." Another confirmation I received was in 2008 when a stranger stopped by my office with a bowl of uncooked rice and prophesied with a letter that said, "Time is short. You will minister to people everywhere even at the market. You don't need to hold a Bible""God is interested in your heart...rise up, anointed one, you are the one." In 1994, I had a vision during our prayer week that I was sharing my testimony to many people. I kept a journal of all of my encounters while witnessing to people so one day I could share their stories. In January 2017, the Lord impressed in my heart about writing a book. Ironically, on January 29, 2017, our pastor handed out to the congregation "My Life Plan" booklet asking us to write down our goals, our dreams, and visions. I immediately wrote down that someday, I'd write a book and share my testimony with others. I counted the grains of rice that were in the rice bowl that the lady gave me. The total rice grains were 2,303. To date, I have witnessed to 285 people giving their hearts to the Lord. If you minus that total from 2,303, the balance is 2018. This is the year of 2018, and I believe with all my heart that this prophecy has come to pass as I share this book with you. God's timing is always perfect. I hope this book will be an encouragement to you and your loved ones. Today is your appointed day from God to give your heart to him because God will make a way where there seems to be no way for you. Today, God's promise for me has been fulfilled after twenty-eight years ago when a prophecy was given to me by a godly missionary.

Book Make a Way for Your Rescue

Download or read book Make a Way for Your Rescue written by David Piper and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2017-10-05 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hundreds of lives were lost following the sinking of the Titanic because the owners, believing their ship was unsinkable, neglected to provide sufficient lifeboats. If you believe your heart is unsinkable then you also have decided you dont need a rescue boat. But if you have an addictive behavior interfering with your daily activities, your relationships, and even your will to live, you have a sinking feeling deep in your soul. Since your heart is sinkable how can you be rescued? In Make a Way for Your Rescue you will be challenged to examine your heart to confirm its sinkable condition. The scriptural explanations will show you why you need a heart transplant, how to believe for a new beginning, and inspire you to follow through on commitments. You make a way for your rescue when you come to realize that these scriptural truths are a lifeboat. In the lifeboat scene we see the hand of a rescuer reaching for the hand of a victim. Your study of these truths brings within your reach the stretched-out arm of your Rescuer. When you reach for His hand He will grasp yours and give you a heart exactly like His. This new heart has the endurance to get you through every storm and the assurance to get you through Heavens gate.

Book Make a Way Somehow

  • Author : Kathryn Grover
  • Publisher : Syracuse University Press
  • Release : 1995-01-01
  • ISBN : 9780815626268
  • Pages : 352 pages

Download or read book Make a Way Somehow written by Kathryn Grover and published by Syracuse University Press. This book was released on 1995-01-01 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a groundbreaking book, Kathryn Grover reconstructs from their own writings the lives of African Americans in Geneva, New York, virtually from its beginning in the 1790s, to the time of the community's first civil rights march in 1965. She weaves together demographic evidence and narratives by black Americans to recount their lives within a white-controlled society. Make a Way Somehow, which reflects the tenor of the gospel song whence it came, is a complete and meaningful history of black Genevans, with a moving focus on the individual experience. The author traces five principal migrations of African Americans to northern cities: the forced migration of slaves from the East and South before 1820; the antebellum fugitive slave farm-to-town movement; the postwar migration of emancipated people; the so-called Great Migration between the two World Wars; and the last movement that began around 1938 and ended in 1960, which was precipitated by the need for workers in large-scale commercial agriculture and the war-mobilization effort. Grover pieces together the lives of generations of African Americans in Geneva and delineates the local system of race relations from the city's social and economic standpoint. Black Genevans were kept at the fringes of society and worked in jobs that were temporary and scarce. While antislavery and suffrage work was common, it represented but a small portion of reform in towns whose broader sentiments opposed racial equality. In a work that spans more than a hundred years, the author establishes a context for understanding both the persistence of a small group of blacks and the transience of a great many others.
