Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past seven years I've lived in more places than I can remember. I lived and worked in Shanghai, New York, Berlin, Bangkok, Munich and a few more places, not including the dozens of places I've stayed at for just a few days or weeks. While writing these lines I'm in a small town in Malaysia.I've basically lived out of a backpack for the past seven years. And the longer I'm doing this, the less stuff I need. Right now I carry less than 10 items around with me in a carry on backpack that weighs less than 10kg. I go wherever I want to go. I currently spend less than $800 a month. Including everything. My most precious possession is a $300 Acer laptop.I've started a clothing company in China, for the Chinese market, which failed miserably. I've launched more than 10 websites, some of them made some money, some of them didn't. I shut down all of them. I've written seven books (this is my eighth). None of them was a bestseller. I write a blog where I published more than 500 articles so far. I've more than 100,000 monthly readers spread across multiple platforms.I'm by no means successful. Or rich. But I have more than enough, by all means. I have access to everything I need. And I can buy and afford everything I need.I'm not a minimalist. Or a digital nomad. Or an entrepreneur. Or a blogger. Or an author.I'm mostly trying to just be myself. I'm trying to be myself in a world where it gets harder and harder every single day to just be yourself. It's not always been easy. As a matter of fact it's probably been hard more often than it's been easy. But every day of struggle and doubt has been worth it. Being yourself and creating your own life instead of just living a life is always worth the struggle. This right here is my story. This is what I've learned about life, myself and the world around me.I'm everywhere and nowhere. And I own nothing and everything...

Book excerpt: On the hunt for a vicious killer, Kelsey discovers that the true threat lies closer than she could have ever imagined. It’s been months since Trent Wilcox was sentenced to exile, but Kelsey hasn’t given up on finding a way to bring him home. Grayson Sloane doesn’t share her enthusiasm. Loving two men is challenging enough without them being at each other’s throats, and she is unwilling to compromise on the future she knows is meant for them. Kelsey’s only hope for bringing them all together comes in the form of the Hell lord who insisted on Trent’s exile – Gray’s father. Lord Sloane is willing to acquiesce on Trent’s punishment if Kelsey will do one little job for him. A stray wolf is on a killing spree in Wyoming and he’s killed a number of witches in Lord Sloane’s service. The situation is made all the more complicated by the presence of a sinister werewolf cult in the area. Lupus Solum is known for being cruel to their own kind, and even worse to outsiders. Caught between a craven wolf cult, a brutal killer, a Hell lord, and a mounting pile of bodies, Kelsey is going to have her work cut out for her. But if she can solve the case, she might have a chance to earn her happily ever after.

Book excerpt: SHE CALLED HIM COWBOY. HE CALLED HER PRINCESS. Caitlin Summers has come west for one reason only: to sell the Wyoming ranch that belonged to her late father. But Cloud Ranch isn’t hers to sell—not as long as foreman Wade Barclay and his two brothers are majority owners. According to the will, Caitlin can’t sell her share until she’s lived there . . . for a whole year. For the debt-ridden Philadelphia beauty, the situation is intolerable. But the rough, infuriating wrangler will awaken every tender emotion buried in her heart. To Wade Barclay, Caitlin Summers is just a spoiled society girl—even if she is also the daughter of the man who was a father to him in all but name. Caitlin broke her father’s heart when she and her mother left Wyoming, and Wade has no intention of letting her do the same to him. But living together under the same roof is hard on a man. One stolen kiss is all it takes to make him wild with wanting her. As the days pass, Wade knows he desperately needs Caitlin—in his bed, in his heart, and by his side forever in this wild, beautiful land he knows she’ll never call home.

Download or read book The Growling Cat Ranch written by Homer A. Taylor and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-03-25 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cody Hunter patrolled the Mexico border by horseback in southern Arizona’s expansive desert. He was ambushed and flown to a dangerous drug cartel near Bogota. While being held prisoner, he heard big cats caged nearby and dubbed the headquarters “The Growling Cat Ranch.” This cartel entertained its friends in high places and neighboring drug lords by feeding the cats live human beings, preferably U. S. law enforcement officers. Cody, having never piloted an airplane, escaped certain death by stealing one but crashed into the forest. He eluded his hunters and found refuge at the D.E.A. station in Bogota. The cartel kidnapped his wife in Tucson, then, she too, was destined for the jaguar cages. He rescued her singlehandedly against incredible odds. Having proven himself as a fighter and expert marksman, Cody is inducted into a secret organization that evens the playing field when justice is obstructed by power and rules that prevent convictions.
Download or read book Shame and Wonder written by David Searcy and published by Random House. This book was released on 2016-01-05 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For fans of John Jeremiah Sullivan, Leslie Jamison, Geoff Dyer, and W. G. Sebald, the twenty-one essays in David Searcy’s debut collection are captivating, daring—and completely unlike anything else you’ve read before. Forging connections between the sublime and the mundane, this is a work of true grace, wisdom, and joy. Expansive in scope but deeply personal in perspective, the pieces in Shame and Wonder are born of a vast, abiding curiosity, one that has led David Searcy into some strange and beautiful territory, where old Uncle Scrooge comic books reveal profound truths, and the vastness of space becomes an expression of pure love. Whether ruminating on an old El Camino pickup truck, those magical prizes lurking in the cereal boxes of our youth, or a lurid online ad for “Sexy Girls Near Dallas,” Searcy brings his unique blend of affection and suspicion to the everyday wonders that surround and seduce us. In “Nameless,” he ruminates on spirituality and the fate of an unknown tightrope walker who falls to his death in Texas in the 1880s, buried as a local legend but without a given name. “The Hudson River School” weaves together Google Maps, classical art, and dental hygiene into a story that explores—with exquisite humor and grace—the seemingly impossible angles at which our lives often intersect. And in “An Enchanted Tree Near Fredericksburg,” countless lovers carve countless hearts into the gnarled trunk of an ancient oak tree, leaving their marks to be healed, lifted upward, and, finally, absorbed. Haunting, hilarious, and full of longing, Shame and Wonder announces the arrival of David Searcy as an essential and surprising new voice in American writing. Praise for Shame and Wonder “Astonishment is a quality central to David Searcy’s Shame and Wonder. . . . What unites these twenty-one essays . . . is the sense of a wildly querying intelligence suspended in a state of awe. . . . Searcy is drawn instinctively to moments, the way parcels of time expand and contract in memory, conjuring from ordinary experience a hidden sense of all that is extraordinary in the world, in being alive.”—The New York Times Book Review “A lovely implicit argument for a particular orientation toward the world: continuous awe and wonder . . . Everywhere, David Searcy finds the strange and marvelous in careful examination of the quotidian.”—NPR “Peculiar and lively . . . Like a down-home Roland Barthes, [Searcy’s] quirky observations and sudden narrative turns remind us of the strangeness we miss every day.”—Minneapolis Star Tribune “Often nostalgic and whimsical . . . brings to life the shadows of our kaleidoscopic world.”—The Dallas Morning News “What makes Searcy such a master storyteller is that he is a master observer, sharing his vision through essays that read like exquisitely crafted short stories.”—San Francisco Chronicle “In twenty-one captivatingly offbeat essays, Searcy finds the exceptional in the everyday . . . and contemplates the mysteries therein with grace and eloquence.”—The Atlanta Journal-Constitution “A collection of essays laced with wisdom and beauty.”—Paste “Slyly brilliant—a self-deprecatory look at life in all its weirdness.”—Austin American-Statesman “A work of genius—a particular kind of genius, to be sure.”—Ben Fountain, author of Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk
