Book It Sucks to Know Me

Download or read book It Sucks to Know Me written by Glenn Allen and published by Author House. This book was released on 2011-03-03 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heres a once in a lifetime opportunity (at least thats what my critics are hoping for) to read my third book. If you already know me, you fully understand the full import as enshrined in the title of what I mean when I say It Sucks To Know Me. For those causal acquaintances, heres your last warning: run, dont walk, before its too late. For once you open this book, your psyche will never be the same. Your mind might explode as you try to reconcile the concept that Karl Marx had a number of good sayings while youre cheering loudly at a Tea Party rally. As I said to my sister after she hadnt spoken to me for six months after reading my first book, I didnt kill any people in my book, they were just lawyers. I was fortunate to have another six months of peace until her brain finally was reset and she forgot why she was no longer speaking to me. For my part, my brain edit function is still out for repair (by court order). I invite all of you to contemplate this as you read this book: Do you consider it to be a worthy addition to the worlds literature or would it have been better if I was never born? Send you votes to my mom whos agreed to tally them for me.

Book excerpt: A history illustrating the complexity of medical decision making and risk. Still the leading cause of death worldwide, heart disease challenges researchers, clinicians, and patients alike. Each day, thousands of patients and their doctors make decisions about coronary angioplasty and bypass surgery. In Broken Hearts David S. Jones sheds light on the nature and quality of those decisions. He describes the debates over what causes heart attacks and the efforts to understand such unforeseen complications of cardiac surgery as depression, mental fog, and stroke. Why do doctors and patients overestimate the effectiveness and underestimate the dangers of medical interventions, especially when doing so may lead to the overuse of medical therapies? To answer this question, Jones explores the history of cardiology and cardiac surgery in the United States and probes the ambiguities and inconsistencies in medical decision making. Based on extensive reviews of medical literature and archives, this historical perspective on medical decision making and risk highlights personal, professional, and community outcomes.

'The Dream Doctor' features super-sleuth Professor Craig Kennedy who is sometimes referred to as "The American Sherlock Holmes" due to his astounding ability at crime solving and his Watson-like sidekick Walter Jameson, a newspaper reporter. In 'The Dream Doctor,' Kennedy uses his knowledge of chemistry and psychoanalysis to solve mysteries; with the help of exotic devices such as lie detectors, gyroscopes, and portable seismographs. Arthur Benjamin Reeve was born on 15th October 1880 in New York, USA. Reeve received his University education at Princeton and upon graduating enrolled at the New York Law School. However, his career was not destined to be in the field of Law. Between 1910 and 1918 he produced 82 short stories for Cosmopolitan. During this period he also began authoring screenplays, and by the end of the decade, his film career was at its peak with his name appearing on seven films, most of them serials and three of them starring Harry Houdini. Reeve later continued to write detective stories for pulp magazines, but also covered many celebrated crime cases for various newspapers, including the murder of William Desmond Taylor, and the trial of Lindbergh baby kidnapper, Bruno Hauptmann. In 1932 he moved to Trenton to be near his alma mater. He died on 9th August 1936.

His current assignment involves an investment program proposed by the United States and supported by the Colombian Government to redirect cartel drug profits and dry up the flow of drugs into the U.S. However, Luke finds it odd that the first investment selected is a gambling casino in New Mexico. His suspicions build as he sees signs of more nefarious motives. In this Government-orchestrated scheme, a web of C.I.A. agents, military, and lawyers work undercover-some with hidden agendas-conspiring with cartel drug lords to use Native American casinos as their foil. The deeper Luke is immersed in the project, the more he is convinced that his Apache people are being ill-used. Trying to protect them from yet another form of exploitation, Luke learns too much and becomes a fugitive in his own country and the prey of vindictive drug dealers. Caught in the lethal crossfire, Luke seeks the guidance of an Apache elder and resorts to the ancient warfare methods of Geronimo, hoping to survive long enough to expose the deception.

It’s the Year of the Monkey in Bangkok. But expat Vincent Calvino’s Chinese New Year celebration has been interrupted. On the other side of that wall, Calvino and Colonel Pratt discover an elite film unit of old Asia hands with connections to influential people in Southeast Asia. They are about to find themselves matched against a set of farangs conditioned for urban survival and willing to go for a knockout punch. “Highly recommended to readers of hard-boiled detective fiction, including series set in Bangkok (especially John Burdett’s Sonchai Jitplecheep novels) as well as the classic American tough-guy authors (Raymond Chandler or, more recently, Robert B. Parker).” —Booklist “When Americans discover Christopher G. Moore, they’re going to strip the bookstores bare of his work.”—T. Jefferson Parker
