Book excerpt: Create your own artisanal "farm-to-glass" specialty cocktails using local, seasonal, unusual, and organic produce with this illustrated bartending guide from the renowned cocktail chef who is transforming modern mixology. Matthew Biancaniello, the former cocktail chef for the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel’s famous Library Bar, is creating cocktails the world has never tasted before. Going beyond the quotidian Whiskey Sour or Tom Collins, Biancaniello is mixing it up with imaginative drinks such as “The Heirloom Tomato Mojito”, a twenty-five-year-aged balsamic vinegar and strawberry libation named “The Last Tango in Modena,” and a fresh arugula-infused “Roquette.” One of the fastest-rising and most unique talents in the world of bartending, Biancaniello crafts exciting new drinks based on farm-fresh, seasonal, organic ingredients. A complement to farm-to-table dining, his fresh take on cocktails is ushering in a new age of drinking: “farm-to-glass”, and with the addition of his foraging and gardening methods, “ground to glass.” Captured in gorgeous full-color photographs, the libations in Eat Your Drink are both aesthetically beautiful and delicious. Eat Your Drink explores cocktails that push boundaries though never-before-imagined flavor combinations. Following Biancaniello’s lead, you too can learn to blend alcohol and food together to create an elevated cocktail experience that requires you to savor, explore and . . . eat your drink.

Download or read book Now I See You written by Nicole C. Kear and published by St. Martin's Press. This book was released on 2014-06-24 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At nineteen years old, Nicole C. Kear's biggest concern is choosing a major--until she walks into a doctor's office in midtown Manhattan and gets a life-changing diagnosis. She is going blind, courtesy of an eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa, and has only a decade or so before Lights Out. Instead of making preparations as the doctor suggests, Kear decides to carpe diem and make the most of the vision she has left. She joins circus school, tears through boyfriends, travels the world, and through all these hi-jinks, she keeps her vision loss a secret. When Kear becomes a mother, just a few years shy of her vision's expiration date, she amends her carpe diem strategy, giving up recklessness in order to relish every moment with her kids. Her secret, though, is harder to surrender - and as her vision deteriorates, harder to keep hidden. As her world grows blurred, one thing becomes clear: no matter how hard she fights, she won't win the battle against blindness. But if she comes clean with her secret, and comes to terms with the loss, she can still win her happy ending. Told with humor and irreverence, Now I See You is an uplifting story about refusing to cower at life's curveballs, about the power of love to triumph over fear. But, at its core, it's a story about acceptance: facing the truths that just won't go away, and facing yourself, broken parts and all.

Download or read book Where Did My Life Go Homeless and Out of Business written by K.D. Sanders and published by Kevin Dale Sanders. This book was released on 2015-10-31 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Where Did My Life Go? Homeless and Out of Business” is by far one of the most raw, powerful, and engaging reads that I’ve come across in a long, long time. Author K.D. Sanders offers readers a very personal and unaltered look into his life, thoughts, and feelings as he underwent some very rough times as a homeless man while experiencing that many of us will never even come close to in our ordinary lives. I say this and the book may seem quite gloomy at first, but I also would say there’s another side to it – I interpret the book as having a sort of theme about personal redemption and keeping headstrong even through all the bad things that life can throw at you. The author manages to keep his spirits high even while dealing with unfortunate circumstances and for that I admire his courage. As well as this, the text is written in a way that flows nicely due to a relatively relaxed undertone and there are plenty of general musings about the author’s opinion on homeless life in general that I found to be very thought-provoking (and even sobering at times). Overall, I enjoyed the read and I found it to be honestly quite refreshingly new compared to what I’ve been coming across these days. Definitely worth checking out. - Amazon Review
