Book 99 Problems and Freedom Is One

Download or read book 99 Problems and Freedom Is One written by Glynis Glasgow-Kelly and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2020-09-29 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Martin Luther King had a dream but this book outlines a strategic vision of taking the thinking on issues of race to a higher academic level. Each chapter is written from the view of the western cultural thinker and the black cultural thinker with “black” being used in the political rather than the ethnic sense. At the end of each chapter there are a series of questions for critical thinking. The book encourages black people to elevate themselves from civil rights to civil heights. It calls for an end to the race wars and the gender wars and advocates for a holistic education for reparation; to be proud of our history and to encourage young people to dream of a better future. The vision of the book is to create a cultural business enterprise that specialises in critical thinking skills for academic, cultural and economic progress. Working within the framework of traditional academic disciplines, the book aims to empower people by cultivating critical reading skills, developing creative ideas for business whilst promoting change, insight and cultural well being. The book appeals to politicians, educationalists, teachers and the more academically inclined readers. It appeals to conservative, labour and liberal thinkers. It appeals to the far right and the far left on immigration and other issues. It is self-therapeutic, self discovering and self liberating and ensures everyone’s mental well being. It appeals to all religious denominations as it calls for a moral transformation of society.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the Civil War drew to a close, newly emancipated black women workers made their way to Atlanta—the economic hub of the newly emerging urban and industrial south—in order to build an independent and free life on the rubble of their enslaved past. In an original and dramatic work of scholarship, Tera Hunter traces their lives in the postbellum era and reveals the centrality of their labors to the African-American struggle for freedom and justice. Household laborers and washerwomen were constrained by their employers’ domestic worlds but constructed their own world of work, play, negotiation, resistance, and community organization. Hunter follows African-American working women from their newfound optimism and hope at the end of the Civil War to their struggles as free domestic laborers in the homes of their former masters. We witness their drive as they build neighborhoods and networks and their energy as they enjoy leisure hours in dance halls and clubs. We learn of their militance and the way they resisted efforts to keep them economically depressed and medically victimized. Finally, we understand the despair and defeat provoked by Jim Crow laws and segregation and how they spurred large numbers of black laboring women to migrate north. Hunter weaves a rich and diverse tapestry of the culture and experience of black women workers in the post–Civil War south. Through anecdote and data, analysis and interpretation, she manages to penetrate African-American life and labor and to reveal the centrality of women at the inception—and at the heart—of the new south.

You could say we're the #1 nation at being the best at greatness. But as perfect as America is in every single way, America is broken! And we can't exchange it because we're 236 years past the 30-day return window. Look around--we don't make anything anymore, we've mortgaged our future to China, and the Apologist-in-Chief goes on world tours just to bow before foreign leaders. Worse, the L.A. Four Seasons Hotel doesn't even have a dedicated phone button for the Spa. You have to dial an extension! Where did we lose our way?! It's high time we restored America to the greatness it never lost! Luckily, America Again will singlebookedly pull this country back from the brink. It features everything from chapters, to page numbers, to fonts. Covering subject's ranging from healthcare ("I shudder to think where we'd be without the wide variety of prescription drugs to treat our maladies, such as think-shuddering") to the economy ("Life is giving us lemons, and we're shipping them to the Chinese to make our lemon-flavored leadonade") to food ("Feel free to deep fry this book-it's a rich source of fiber"), Stephen gives America the dose of truth it needs to get back on track.

Book excerpt: Stop being a poser. Start being a Christian. Is your faith for real? How about your walk? If everyone who claimed to love Jesus actually did, this world would be pretty close to paradise. Yet we live in a time when being a poser is not only easy, it’s rewarded—especially where Jesus is concerned. But claiming to love Jesus without following him is bogus, fraudulent, and—frankly—it’s not you. God has called you to be set apart, to live authentically, to walk a genuine Jesus Swagger. He wants followers, not pretenders. From Christian blogger Jarrid Wilson, Jesus Swagger is about calling out the phony, showing the pretender the door, and letting Jesus in instead. If you are suspicious of your own motivations, your own talk, or even your own Christianity, it’s time to be honest, come clean, and get real. It’s time to take the Jesus Swagger litmus test and start walking the walk.

  • Author : Geoff Thompson
  • Publisher : John Hunt Publishing
  • Release : 2023-03-31

Download or read book 99 Reasons to Forgive written by Geoff Thompson and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2023-03-31 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geoff Thompson was sexually abused at the tender age of 11 by a trusted and beloved teacher. By the time he was 30 years old he was unconsciously displacing his rage into violence, sexual self-harm and long bouts of debilitating depression. After failing to find a solution to his burgeoning mania in all the conventional places, he set off on a Campbellian quest to find the answers for himself: about abuse, about the aftermath of abuse, about the true meaning of forgiveness, its metaphysical power, and how it is possible to heal, no matter how deep or how old the wound. The author assures us that "there is treasure in the ruins", "there can be profit in sorrow and in suffering", and, with a few tried and tested, honest techniques and a heavy supply of courage, victims can reclaim their lives, they can win love and they can find healing and inspiration, post-abuse. In this deeply empirical study, Thompson reveals the true definition and the awesome power of forgiveness, clearly defining the difference between forgiving someone and letting them off. He demonstrates the power and freedom of "giving it over"; the revealed health benefits of releasing anger, dissonance and resentment; the hidden power of reciprocity; avoiding the hate trap; the healing power of love and compassion; the liberating practice of personal repentance; and discovering "the world to come" - the exhilarating expansion we experience when ignorance is dissolved with qualified knowledge. "I told my story very late", Thompson tells us, "and suffered needlessly as a consequence; I'm hoping that 99 Reasons to Forgive will encourage others to share their story sooner, be inspired by my living example of powerful healing, and embrace their walking wounds as beauty scars, the rich tapestry of personal survival".

Book I Got 99 Problems But a Bill Ain t One

Download or read book I Got 99 Problems But a Bill Ain t One written by Rodney B. Pearson and published by . This book was released on 2020-02-11 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the moment that the doctor spanked our little bottoms, we are programmed to understand the importance of education. We are continuously taught about all of the necessary things in life. We are taught how to speak, how to walk, how to exist in a social environment, and even how to conjugate verbs or differentiate functions. Education is gaining knowledge and knowledge is awareness. We spend years learning information that is needed for us to attain a career and live what most people feel is a happy life...the "perfect" life. Usually our idea of a "perfect" life includes a spouse, children, a home, two cars, yearly vacations, a career, and working forty years until you can actually enjoy the relatively small amount of money that you may have saved... if possible. The "perfect" life is not living... it is surviving. The road to financial freedom is necessary if we want to truly live. In this book, we will begin "Thinkin' of a Master Plan," our roadmap to understanding where we are and where we want to go as it pertains to our personal portfolios. The "Golden Rule" states "He who rules the gold makes the rules." In this book, we will study ways of making our own Golden Rule. My adaptation of the Golden Rule would say "Rod who rules his own gold, makes his own rules!" Now that my friend is living!!!Financial freedom does not come easy and anyone that says different is not being truthful. There is very little chance that you will come across an opportunity that will allow you to gain financial freedom overnight...not impossible, just not likely. The Bible says, "The race is not given to the swift nor the strong, but he who endures until the end (Ecclesiastes 9:11)." If you design and ENACT your Master Plan, your end will result in you gaining the freedom to do all of the things in this life that you have always dreamed. We all have situations that arise in our life that cause issues. Life is filled with trials and tribulations, but if we develop our Master Plan and work the plan, we may have 99 PROBLEMS, BUT A BILL AIN'T ONE!!!
