This book was released on 2019-03-25 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bouvier des Flandres is a breed of herding dog that originates from Flanders, in Belgium. The breed is also commonly known as the 'Flanders Cattle Dog' as well as being known by the breed's literal French translation of 'Cow Herder of Flanders.' The breed was traditionally used for general farm work including cattle herding, sheep herding, cart pulling and animal droving. Traditionally the Bouvier des Flandres had its tail docked and its ears cropped. It is believed that the owner's would have done this to indicate that the Bouvier des Flandres is a working dog, rather than a pet, which means that it would not be subject to pet taxations. It is also thought that the ear cropping and tail docking was an attempt to avoid the dog injuring itself while it works. The breed nearly went extinct during World War 1 due to the devastation that occurred across the region of Flanders. A male trained trench dog, named Nic, who served during World War 1 was awarded a multiple titles at dog shows after the war and is considered the founder of the Bouvier des Flandres breed. In modern times the Bouvier des Flandres is mainly employed as a guard dog, a police dog or a domestic household pet. The breed is known to be gentle, loyal, protective and loving by nature. They make excellent household pets due to their high levels of obedience and intelligence. Before purchasing any pet it is important to understand that as a pet owner you are responsible for the care and wellbeing of your pet. It is important to try and learn as much as you can about the animal you are considering to keep as a pet to make sure that your lifestyle, household and financial status are suited to provide your pet with the best possible care. This guide has been designed to provide you with both precise and concise information about a Bouvier des Flandres's basic needs to help you provide your pet with the best quality care practices. This guide will give an in-depth explanation on training your Bouvier des Flandres, raising your Bouvier des Flandres from a puppy, grooming, health care and everything in between! "The Bouvier des Flandres: A Complete and Comprehensive Owners Guide to: Buying, Owning, Health, Grooming, Training, Obedience, Understanding and Caring for Your Bouvier des Flandres," by Michael Stonewood is the perfect purchase or gift for a first time Bouvier des Flandres owner. Book America s Queen

Download or read book America s Queen written by Sarah Bradford and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2001-10-01 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now the subject of a new film directed by Pablo Larrain, "Jackie", starring Natalie Portman Acclaimed biographer Sarah Bradford explores the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the woman who has captivated the public for more than five decades, in a definitive portrait that is both sympathetic and frank. With an extraordinary range of candid interviews—many with people who have never spoken in such depth on record before—Bradford offers new insights into the woman behind the public persona. She creates a coherent picture out of Jackie’s tumultuous and cosmopolitan life—from the aristocratic milieu of Newport and East Hampton to the Greek isles, from political Washington to New York’s publishing community. She probes Jackie’s privileged upbringing, her highly public marriages, and her roles as mother and respected editor, and includes rare photos from private collections to create the most complete account yet written of this legendary life. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's life is once again the center of interest with the 2016 release of the Pablo Larrain movie "Jackie", starring Natalie Portman.

Book To the One I Love the Best

Download or read book To the One I Love the Best written by Ludwig Bemelmans and published by Pushkin Press. This book was released on 2023-03-07 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A witty and charming account of the wildly entertaining Elsie de Wolfe in 1950s Hollywood, recounted by her dear friend, the beloved creator of Madeline Ludwig Bemelmans’ charming intergenerational friendship with the late-in-life “First Lady of Interior Decoration” provides an enormously enjoyable nostalgia trip to the sun-soaked glamour of Los Angeles, where de Wolfe surrounded herself with classic movie stars and a luminous parade of life's oddities. With hilarity and mischief that de Wolfe would no doubt approve, To the One I Love the Best lifts the curtain on 1950s Hollywood--a bygone world of extravagance and eccentricity, where the parties are held in circus tents and populated by ravishing movie stars. Bemelmans, who was working at MGM, had originally come to the California home of de Wolfe just for cocktails but by the end of the night, he was firmly established as a member of the family: given a bedroom in their sumptuous house, invitations to the most outrageous parties in Hollywood, and the friendship of the larger-than-life woman known to her closest friends simply as 'Mother'. To the One I Love the Best (which refers to de Wolfe’s dog) is a touching tribute to a fabulously funny woman and an American icon. Be pretty if you can, be witty if you must, but be gracious if it kills you. - Elsie de Wolfe

Download or read book The Other End of the Leash written by Patricia McConnell, Ph.D. and published by Ballantine Books. This book was released on 2009-02-19 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learn to communicate with your dog—using their language “Good reading for dog lovers and an immensely useful manual for dog owners.”—The Washington Post An Applied Animal Behaviorist and dog trainer with more than twenty years’ experience, Dr. Patricia McConnell reveals a revolutionary new perspective on our relationship with dogs—sharing insights on how “man’s best friend” might interpret our behavior, as well as essential advice on how to interact with our four-legged friends in ways that bring out the best in them. After all, humans and dogs are two entirely different species, each shaped by its individual evolutionary heritage. Quite simply, humans are primates and dogs are canids (as are wolves, coyotes, and foxes). Since we each speak a different native tongue, a lot gets lost in the translation. This marvelous guide demonstrates how even the slightest changes in our voices and in the ways we stand can help dogs understand what we want. Inside you will discover: • How you can get your dog to come when called by acting less like a primate and more like a dog • Why the advice to “get dominance” over your dog can cause problems • Why “rough and tumble primate play” can lead to trouble—and how to play with your dog in ways that are fun and keep him out of mischief • How dogs and humans share personality types—and why most dogs want to live with benevolent leaders rather than “alpha wanna-bes!” Fascinating, insightful, and compelling, The Other End of the Leash is a book that strives to help you connect with your dog in a completely new way—so as to enrich that most rewarding of relationships.
