Book Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Download or read book Psychodynamic Psychotherapy written by Jon Frederickson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-28 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is the first book designed to teach therapists how to listen and intervene from multiple perspectives. Through study and analysis of session transcripts, the reader learns how to listen and formulate interpretations from four different perspectives: reflection, analysis of conflict, analysis of transference, and analysis of defense. Each listening approach is introduced with a brief chapter illustrating the rules of intervention followed by therapy transcripts, which the reader studies and analyzes. By studying the transcripts, answering the questions in the material, and comparing his answers with those provided by the author, the reader will learn how to reflect, analyze conflict, interpret the transference, and analyze the defenses. Beginning therapists can use this book to acquire listening and intervention skills. Advanced therapists will enjoy studying and comparing listening approaches from a meta-theoretical perspective. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy provides a framework for studying how each approach focuses on a different analytic surface, and uses different rules for timing and content of interpretation.

Book Primal Screams

  • Author : Van Deist
  • Publisher : Page Publishing Inc
  • Release : 2018-11-22
  • ISBN : 1642989320
  • Pages : 23 pages

Download or read book Primal Screams written by Van Deist and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2018-11-22 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Primal Screams is an emotional education to help reduce stress and promote emotional well-being, inner peace & happiness. By using nonverbal, emotional expression. one stands a better chance to accurately describe and understand one's emotional turmoil and gain significant insight. Emotional ventilation (screaming) reduces the amount of suppressed fear, pain, and anger and lessens ones emotional burden. It frees up "emotional space" to store pleasure and love. One who retains the minimum amount of fear, pain, and anger and who stores the maximum amount of pleasure and love is one who can truly be called happy. My practice is to cover my pillow with a towel; lay face-down on my bed; open my mouth wide; and scream into the pillow. Fear is a high-pitched sound. Pain is more of a moan. Anger is a growl. If one has been using drugs to suppress emotions, those emotions will surface when the drug is removed and must be vented. Nicotine suppresses fear and anger. Alcohol suppresses fear and pain. Opioids are pain killers, and, of course, suppress emotional pain as well as physical pain. Depression is a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness. Helplessness is fear, and hopelessness is pain. To the extent that one vents one's fear and pain, one's depression is diminished. If one is overwhelmed with emotional pain and if negative thoughts lead to a consideration of suicide, try venting emotional pain until one is less overwhelmed, more positive, and more appreciative of the pleasure of living. Help save your life.

They say opposites attract, and that could be the only explanation for her attraction to Paul. Always the life of the party, Paul won his seat on the student council by running on an apathy platform. Wherever Paul goes, laughter follows, and Johanna longs to be a part of his inner circle. And whenever Johanna wants something, she plans and works hard to achieve her goal. Getting Paul into her life turns out to be the easy part. Keeping Paul happy while juggling all her other responsibilities is tough even for an overachiever like Johanna. Soon Paul's happiness becomes more important to Johanna than her own. More important than her relationship with her parents and friends. More important than her grades, her safety, and her future.

Book Japanoise

  • Author : David Novak
  • Publisher : Duke University Press
  • Release : 2013-06-03
  • ISBN : 082235392X
  • Pages : 305 pages

Download or read book Japanoise written by David Novak and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2013-06-03 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Noise, an underground music made through an amalgam of feedback, distortion, and electronic effects, first emerged as a genre in the 1980s, circulating on cassette tapes traded between fans in Japan, Europe, and North America. With its cultivated obscurity, ear-shattering sound, and over-the-top performances, Noise has captured the imagination of a small but passionate transnational audience. For its scattered listeners, Noise always seems to be new and to come from somewhere else: in North America, it was called "Japanoise." But does Noise really belong to Japan? Is it even music at all? And why has Noise become such a compelling metaphor for the complexities of globalization and participatory media at the turn of the millennium? In Japanoise, David Novak draws on more than a decade of research in Japan and the United States to trace the "cultural feedback" that generates and sustains Noise. He provides a rich ethnographic account of live performances, the circulation of recordings, and the lives and creative practices of musicians and listeners. He explores the technologies of Noise and the productive distortions of its networks. Capturing the textures of feedback—its sonic and cultural layers and vibrations—Novak describes musical circulation through sound and listening, recording and performance, international exchange, and the social interpretations of media.

Book Motherhood and Postnatal Depression

Download or read book Motherhood and Postnatal Depression written by Carolyn Westall and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-07-21 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globally, postnatal depression (PND) is a growing public health problem. PND affects 10 to 15% of women in Western society. It caused by a combination of biological, psychological and social factors. Two models have attempted to define and explain PND; the biomedical and the sociological models. The traditional biomedical model views PND as a medical condition which implies there is individual pathology and abnormality. Whilst the biomedical model has been the dominant model in treating PND, it has been criticized by feminist sociologists and psychologists for its rigidity in defining and explaining PND. In contrast, the psychosocial model of health acknowledges the biological factors that impact on emotional well-being, but places more emphasis on the personal and social factors that impact on emotional well-being, but places more emphasis on the personal and social factors that contribute to depressive symptoms such as gender, poverty, social disadvantage and social class. The central argument throughout this book is the importance of support before and after the birth for women's emotional well-being. This book will also include women's journeys through pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood, postnatal depression, and resolution. To date, literature has focused on women's lived experiences of PND rather than their personal journeys through pregnancy, childbirth and early motherhood. Additionally, the adjustment to fatherhood has received less attention. For example, little is known about the impact of postnatal depression on the partner, what support partners offer when women with the intention to fill the gap in knowledge of cultural and social issues relating to pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood for woman who were diagnosed with, and had resolved, PND.
