Download or read book Teaching written by Gerry Dee and published by Anchor Canada. This book was released on 2013-05-14 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hilarious, cringe-inducing stories about teachers, students and parents, from CBC star of Mr. D, one of Canada's hottest comedic talents. Gerry Dee is a rising comic star whose humour has been compared to Bill Cosby's. He spent ten years working as a teacher and survived (barely) to tell his tales. Told from the honest point-of-view of a not-so-good, often-very-bad public school teacher--the kind who teaches hungover (and lies about it), loses his students' exams (and lies about it), and stages an impromptu baseball game in the middle of history class just to kill some time, Teaching: It's Harder Than It Looks is Mr. D at his best. This book collects Gerry's funniest anecdotes about teaching, about students and about their parents. As Gerry's ode to school life, it's sure to bring back a memory or two, whether you were the teacher's pet or the class clown. Throughout, he offers tongue-in-cheek "Teacher Tips and Tricks," uncomfortable notes to parents, awkward report cards and all manner of memorabilia of school days. He's extremely funny, on the page as well as in person, and he's the kind of personality who will reach out beyond his own core comedy audience to a broad demographic of educators, parents and students who relate to his humour and experiences.

Book Eternal Love Romantic Poetry Straight from the Heart

Download or read book Eternal Love Romantic Poetry Straight from the Heart written by Stacey Chillemi and published by Author Stacey Chillemi. This book was released on 2017-10-29 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do you know when you are in love? What is true love and what is not? How can I find a person to love and share the rest of my life? Will true love come to me naturally? How can I build a relationship? The poems in my book answer these questions. People are eager to find true love—love that will not last a short period of time, but for a lifetime. Eternal Love is designed to answer these questions and more. It is divided into two sections that correspond to the way most people “experience” love: the explanation of love and the love poems (using poems and love letters that I created). Each part highlights a particular aspect of love, what love is, and how it can be obtained. Many philosophers and writers have tried to find the true meaning of love, yet true love remains to be one of the most mysterious feelings on this planet. Sometimes we are not always aware when true love comes our way. True love is not something we can control. It takes control of our mind, body, and soul. However, when it does come our way, it enriches our lives and makes our heart sing with joy. True love is magical, and no one should have to live without it. Eternal Love: Romantic Poetry Straight from the Heart is a collection of poems that describes the true meaning of true love. So find a comfortable spot in your home and get ready to encounter the magical journey of eternal love.

Book Letters to Bangkok

Download or read book Letters to Bangkok written by John Smith and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-03-11 with total page 809 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Letters to Bangkok is a story of love born on the internet between a practising Thai surgeon and an English University marketing manager. The initial Skype conversations and subsequent letters are true and exact records of written exchanges between two people trying to find love. Below is an extract pages 17, 18 and 19 of the actual book. The Skype Connection SeptemberNovember 2008 Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, the famous throwaway saying in Casablanca brings me immediately to thinking with amazement how I first met sweet Pen. Reflecting on this momentous meeting, well momentous in terms of its life-changing impact on my small world, I often pose myself one question: How is it possible that two people, effectively total strangers, with widely different backgrounds and experiences can begin a conversation through a chance meeting at a moment in a time and place on a social chat forum called Skype and through that conversation set off additional exchanges leading eventually to two hearts beating as one? (See explanation of the term Skype below.) It must be said at the outset that both Pen and I came to the site with reservations and varying degrees of scepticism born from previous failed and disappointing encounters on Skype, where people come and go with regular monotony, like ships in the night or ghosts briefly haunting the ether space but soon to disappear without a trace. It is the nature of the beast called social Internet chatting that you may find someone interesting and then they disappear, never to be seen or heard of again, with no by your leave, refusing to reply to further communications, leaving you saying, Um, it was definitely something I said!!!! I had an early impression from what Pen said that she was more experienced on Skype in comparison to me, a relative newcomer. But why did Pen and I come to seek out one another in the first place? I was searching initially for company and solace, as I was suffering in a loveless, rather cruel relationship. Despite my experiences, I have always been an optimist, eternally inquisitive and open minded, a peoples person. Setting aside early negative encounters on social sites, I have been blessed with a strong belief in the goodness of human nature and a belief in destiny. Whether I believed that destiny could be found in such a chance and brief encounter is a moot point. I had just come through a long and difficult marriage which had ended de facto, and although I had not made the break physically from my ex-partner, I had signalled my intention to leave, and in mind and spirit, I had disassociated myself from intimacy or any future plans with this failed relationship. So yes, in one sense, although not consciously acknowledged by myself, I was searching for a human being to fill the emotional chasm left by years of mild mental abuse born of being married to an aggressive and sometimes violent alcoholic. I was seeking someone who might be sensitive, caring, supportive, loving, someone who could be my friend and confidant, someone I could trust with my heart, a lover that would be my love for always, not just temporarily, someone that would be my encourager and someone that would share my dreams and let me share hers, and most importantly, someone that would not betray my emotional trusta big shopping order, you might say! And in that respect, I had already decided to cast my net wider, beyond the shores of England, and sought an international partner to be my friend. I was already familiar with some of the attractive qualities that an Asian woman might bring to a relationship: loyalty, selflessness, spirituality, a caring, loving, and generous nature, and rarely abusive of alcohol. I was also physically attracted to the Asian look with their dark eyes, sultry looks, and long dark hair. For Pen, Skype perhaps offered, amongst other things, an opportunity to d

Book excerpt: At a very young age, I knew that I held a special place in my heart for this world. And I think I always knew that there were more than just us on this plane of existence. I was also taught at a very young age by my father; he would always tell me, "My sweet girl, you always have to remember, our dreams are a glimpse into our own futures. Now you need to always remember that, and never forget who you are and what your purpose is in this life." So as the years have gone by, I found myself fighting for the freedom of my own country, protecting the men and women beneath my command. I was always that one person that looked out for the little guy. But never in my wildest dreams would I find myself fighting for my own world. Never would I have imagined that I would one day find my true soul mate, but here's the kicker: my soul mate, my true mate fated by destiny herself, was from a different realm altogether. Now I knew I had the gift, the gift of foresight, but I had no idea what truly burned deep down in my soul: the flame of life and rebirth. One day I wake up, and I am retired from the military, and the next thing I know, I'm voluntarily going overseas to the same shithole I left as a soldier. But this time around, I was getting paid what I was worth. Now I look back and think whether the money is worth what I will soon be going through: demons, dark and evil creatures, black magic that I only read in fairy tales, and now a war was to be waged between the light and the dark. Our world has always had good and evil, and even that gray area, but now this war that is being waged, it has been set upon lies and deceit, and I will not fail my people or my world. I will win this war, and light will prevail once again.

  • ISBN : 1631467522

Download or read book Just You Wait written by Tricia Lott Williford and published by NavPress. This book was released on 2019-07-09 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everybody waits. We wait for a spouse, wait for a baby, wait on our children, wait for our parents. We wait for clarity and direction. We wait on a job, a promotion, a new direction. We wait for hope, for healing, and for miracles. We wait on God. And when we misunderstand what waiting is about, we can get confused about what God is up to. Waiting is one of God’s favorite tools. He can do certain things in our hearts, our lives, and our relationships while we wait—things we cannot experience once we’ve opened the gift we have been waiting for. So just you wait, because everyone takes their turn in the waiting room. It’s a long and painful fact of life, but shortcuts and microwaves aren’t the answer. God is at work behind the scenes in invisible ways you can’t see . . . yet. Just you wait and see how ready you’ll be if you spend your waiting well. Because when your opportunity comes, you don’t want to spend more time on the bench. When you wait well, you can say, “Look out, world: I am getting ready to shine. Just you wait.” In these pages, Tricia discusses the joy hidden in the discipline of waiting, and the practices of believing God is for you and working on your behalf, even when the work of His hand is hard to find.
