Book I Am Mommy

Download or read book I Am Mommy written by Susan Hughes and published by I am Mommy.. This book was released on 2007-07 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author was immersed in her career. She had prepared for years for this time in her life - she was financially independent and moving step by step up the corporate ladder. That was the true definition of success . . . or so she thought. Then it happened - marriage. Then it happened - pregnancy. Then it happened - REDEFINITION! Susan Hughes explores well below the surface of the working mom vs. stay-at-home mom debate using her humorous though deeply honest recollection of the birth of her son and the challenges and joys that followed. She takes us on her journey from "manager" to "Mommy" that left her knowing, without a doubt, that motherhood is the most important and most powerful job there is. The undeniable truths presented within make a convincing argument that kids, not career, should be a mother's top priority.

Book I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids

Download or read book I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids written by Trisha Ashworth and published by Chronicle Books. This book was released on 2010-07-01 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I don't know how she does it! is an oft-heard refrain about mothers today. Funnily enough, most moms agree they have no idea how they get it done, or whether they even want the job. Trisha Ashworth and Amy Nobile spoke to mothers of every stripe--working, stay-at-home, part-time--and found a surprisingly similar trend in their interviews. After enthusing about her lucky life for twenty minutes, a mother would then break down and admit that her child's first word was "Shrek." As one mom put it, "Am I happy? The word that describes me best is challenged." Fresh from the front lines of modern motherhood comes a book that uncovers the guilty secrets of moms today . . . in their own words. I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids diagnoses the craziness and offers real solutions, so that mothers can step out of the madness and learn to love motherhood as much as they love their kids.

Annabel Beam spent most of her childhood in and out of hospitals with a rare and incurable digestive disorder that prevented her from ever living a normal, healthy life. One sunny day when she was able to go outside and play with her sisters, she fell three stories headfirst inside an old, hollowed-out tree, a fall that may well have caused death or paralysis. Implausibly, she survived without a scratch. While unconscious inside the tree, with rescue workers struggling to get to her, she visited heaven. After being released from the hospital, she defied science and was inexplicably cured of her chronic ailment. Miracles from Heaven will change how we look at the world around us and reinforce our belief in God and the afterlife.

In October, based on new evidence against Casey—her erratic behavior and lies, her car that showed signs of human decomposition—a grand jury indicted the young single mother. Then, two months later, police found Caylee's remains a quarter of a mile away from the Anthony home. Casey pled not guilty to charges of murder in the first degree, and she continues to protest her innocence. Did she or didn't she kill Caylee? His remarkable journey began in infancy and continues to this day. Throughout his childhood, he displayed an extraordinary understanding of spiritual things, and spoke of "bright lights," and... "evil things." This book chronicles the true story of the demonic torments and the miraculous events experienced by this child exactly as they happened. Book excerpt: “Lauren Grodstein breaks your heart, then miraculously pieces it back together so it’s bigger—and stronger—than before.” —Celeste Ng, author of Everything I Never Told You How can a woman learn to let go of the people she loves the most? Karen Neulander, a successful New York political consultant and single mother, has always been fiercely protective of her son, Jacob, now six. She’s had to be: when Jacob’s father, Dave, found out Karen was pregnant and made it clear that fatherhood wasn’t in his plans, Karen walked out of the relationship, never telling Dave her intention was to raise their child alone. But now Jake is asking to meet his dad, and with good reason: Karen is dying. When she finally calls her ex, she’s shocked to find Dave ecstatic about the son he never knew he had. First, he can’t meet Jake fast enough, and then he can’t seem to leave him alone. Karen quickly grows anxious as she watches Dave insinuate himself into Jake’s life just as her own strength and hold on Jake grow more tenuous. As she struggles to play out her last days in the “right” way for Jake, Karen wrestles with the knowledge that the only thing she cannot bring herself to do for her son—let his father become a permanent part of his life—is the thing he needs from her the most. With heart-wrenching poignancy, unexpected wit, and mordant humor, Lauren Grodstein has created an unforgettable story about parenthood, sacrifice, and life itself.

Book Fear Bruised My Ear

Download or read book Fear Bruised My Ear written by L. D. Giles and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-03-23 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sex took on a mysterious meaning in my youth. Stepfathers delivery was sudden and not meant to be seen by others. His eyes glazed over with disappointment as he spoke, Ive heard the rumors about you. Why didnt you come to me instead of getting a boyfriend? I can teach you all you need to know. I pulled away with all my power. Running from stepfathers clandestine agenda, moralistic banishment by Jehovahs Witnesses, and escaping my mothers blind religious views shadowed my life experiences. Decidedly, I grabbed my backpack and threw it out the window. I climbed through my bedroom window landing in the flower bed. While in the dark I clawed through the flower bed finally, I found it and ran. Looking back my stomach churned nervously inside. Ironically, I felt my battle to be free was not over. Much of the time I awoke from the past struggling in my present life. These are the times I began to write. As a family we feared stepfather as a child I kept waiting for my mother to get stronger against him. As an adolescent I ran away and took responsibility for rescuing myself. Now as an adult writing it out, sometimes scribbling madly and releasing past secrets did my personal struggle turn into personal healing. While under duress I began to feel, to hear, and know that fear does not rule my life.
