Download or read book I Am JOSIAH written by Gw Tolley and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-03-25 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There he was in a suit and tie; his smile and blue eyes lit up the entire room, so bright, I could barely see the man. With a twinkle in his eye and a contagious smile, he said, "hi, I'm GW Tolley, and God told me to come to this meeting today." Instantly we became friends. While I knew bits and pieces of his story, it wasn't until reading this book that I would fully comprehend GW Tolley's depth. While attending a meeting, GW asked for prayer for his hearing. At the time, I read the part in the book where GW's mom sent him to a specialist for his hearing. When I spoke to GW about this, I said, I do not think it coincidental that as I read about your hearing issues as a child, you are experiencing issues out of the blue as an adult. I believe God wants to use this. Days later, GW launched a Hearing Impaired and Deaf Awareness Campaign."I am JOSIAH" is a special book, several moments in the text brought back fond memories of my childhood. It gives you a glimpse into the life and trials of a man that God has used in so many unique ways. While reading, I noticed a pattern, obstacle and obedience, obstacle and obedience, obstacle and obedience. As the pattern started to emerge, so did a verse that the Lord placed on my heart to describe GW Tolley and what the reader can expect from this book. The BeatitudesJesus said: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Matthew 3-12)I would be remiss if I did not continue with the verse in my conclusion. Just as I mentioned at the beginning of this Foreword, the light coming from GW was so bright I could barely see the man. As you read the words following the Beatitudes, in Matthew, you will fully understand why."You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 13-16).Regardless of whether you have lived an event-free life or have had trials, this book is for you. Allow GW's example to encourage you to face obstacles with obedience and let your light shine so that others can experience the glory of our Father in heaven through you.Krystal ParkerChild of the Most High GodMomAuthorSpeakerMaster of Business AdministrationBusiness Owner Intent and ImpactPresident, U.S. & Central Florida Christian Chamber of Commerce

Book excerpt: No parent is ever ready for a terminal diagnosis of their child. No mother should see the day where turning off your son's ventilator is the only option to end his pain. And no grandfather should see the day when your grandchild is scheduled to die in his mother's arms. But on September 10, 2005, this was the harsh reality facing our family, and this was the day we’d never forget. I am no pastor; nor a preacher. I am no miracle worker, nor a missionary. I am a struggling husband, a decent father, a survivor of brutal child abuse, and from the miraculous survival and extraordinary life of a Progeria child, I am a believer saved by the Grace of God through Jesus Christ. In A Short Season: Faith, Family, and a Boy's Love for Baseball, Dave Bohner, the story’s narrator and Grandfather to Josiah, and Jake Gronsky, former professional baseball player with the St. Louis Cardinals organization, tell the powerful story of Josiah Viera’s fight for life that not only sparked a family's journey towards healing but inspired a generation of baseball players from one of the most historic organizations in Major League Baseball. A Short Season is a story of hope; a story of acceptance; and a story of faith based on the idea that sometimes a person’s only journey to peace is first trekked through pain. A Short Season is a family’s journey through sorrow and joy, it is a baseball team’s inspiration, and it is the story of one exceptional child’s ray of hope that changed all of their lives forever.

The leading American proponent of absolute idealism, Royce has come back into fashion in recent years. With several important new books appearing, the formation of a Josiah Royce Society, and the re-organization of the Royce papers at Harvard, the time is ripe for Time, Will, and Purpose. Randall Auxier delves into the primary texts written by Royce to retrieve the most poignant ideas, the ideas we need most in the present day, while he also offers a new framework for understanding the development of Royce’s philosophy. Book A Night of Serious Drinking

Download or read book A Night of Serious Drinking written by René Daumal and published by Abrams. This book was released on 2003-04-29 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The French poet and author of Mount Analogue shares a satirical allegory of the absurdities of intellectual society. As in Rene Daumal’s cult classic Mount Analogue, A Night of Serious Drinking concerns an autobiographical protagonist on a mind-expanding journey. But rather than seeking enlightenment, the anonymous narrator recounts an evening getting drunk with a group of friends. As the party becomes intoxicated and exuberant, the narrator’s wandering lead him from seeming paradises to the depths of pure hell. The characters our hero encounters go by absurd titles, such as Anthographers, Fabricators of useless objects, Scienters, Nibblists, and Clarificators. Yet the inhabitants of these strange realms are only too familiar: scientists dissecting an animal in their laboratory, a wise man surrounded by his devotees, politicians angling for influence, and poets expounding their rhetoric. Their hilarious antics and intellectual games reveal incisive social commentary that combines poetic imagination and philosophical depth.

Book Runner s High

Download or read book Runner s High written by Josiah Hesse and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2021-09-14 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Michael Pollan's How to Change Your Mind meets Christopher McDougall's Born to Run in this immersive, investigative look at the hidden culture of cannabis use among elite athletes (as well as weekend warriors)--and the surprising emerging science behind the elusive, exhilarating "runner's high" they all seek. Pot makes exercise fun. The link between performance enhancement and cannabis has been an open secret for many years, so much so that with the wide-sweeping national legalization of cannabis, combining weed and working out has become the hottest new wellness trend. Why, then, is there still a skewed perception around this leafy substance that it only produces the lazy, red-eyed stoner laid out on a couch somewhere, munching on junk food? In fact, scientists have conducted extensive research that uncovers the power of the "runner's high"--the true holy grail of aerobic activity that was long believed to be caused by endorphins. In an extraordinary reversal, scientists believe marijuana may actually be the key to getting more Americans off their phones and on to their feet. In Runner's High, seasoned investigative journalist Josiah Hesse takes readers on a journey through the secret world of stoned athletes, describing astounding, cannabis-inspired physical and mental transformations, just like he experienced. From the economics of the $20 billion CBD market to the inherent inequalities in the enforcement of marijuana prohibition; from the mind-body connection behind the "runner's high" to the best way to make your own cannabis-infused power bars; Runner's High takes this groundbreaking science out of the lab and onto the trail, court, field, and pitch, fundamentally changing the way we think about exercise, recovery, and cannabis.
