Download or read book I Am Both Woman and Child Both Tame and Wild written by Maggie Maze and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-10-30 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book collectively presents an array of topics from my life experiences as a girl growing up in the Midwest to becoming a mature older woman in the age of social media. As both illustrator and writer I enjoy presenting an image with a brief story or verse. Many years ago my parents asked me to design a Christmas card. This is where it all started. Hand-made Christmas cards expanded into other modern American holidays, such as Halloween. Halloween is a favorite of mine as it offers up so much eerily fun for the old and young alike. This is why this collection consists of youthful poems reminiscing of childhood experiences in family and holiday themes as well as poems catering to adults about desire, love, loss and other mature themes. Some poems were written prior to an illustration accompanying them while other illustrations were drawn first with a poem following. Some poems have no illustration at all for example, the poem, “The Hot Bartender” was inspired by viewing an iconic tv show and begs you to imagine what he looks like as I purposely did not include an illustration. This collection includes a passion that embodies a sense of style and fashion in the clothes design some characters wear. “Dressed in the finest silk, velvet and plaid, she’s a sight of breathtaking beauty and style”, is described in the poem, “Celtic Lass in Irish Couture”. Each one of us embodies our own sense of style. Reflections of style, life experiences and how I perceive the world around me can be found in this book. May this collection find you reminiscing about delightful memories and take you to a place of calm reflection.
Download or read book Iron John written by Robert Bly and published by Da Capo Press. This book was released on 2004-07-28 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this deeply learned book, poet and translator Robert Bly offers nothing less than a new vision of what it is to be a man.Bly's vision is based on his ongoing work with men and reflections on his own life. He addresses the devastating effects of remote fathers and mourns the disappearance of male initiation rites in our culture. Finding rich meaning in ancient stories and legends, Bly uses the Grimm fairy tale "Iron John," in which the narrator, or "Wild Man," guides a young man through eight stages of male growth, to remind us of archetypes long forgotten-images of vigorous masculinity, both protective and emotionally centered.Simultaneously poetic and down-to-earth, combining the grandeur of myth with the practical and often painful lessons of our own histories, Iron John is a rare work that will continue to guide and inspire men-and women-for years to come.

Download or read book Wehali The Female Land written by Tom Therik and published by ANU Press. This book was released on 2023-03-30 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wehali defines itself as the ritual centre of the island of Timor. As a ritual centre, Wehali continues to be the residence of a figure of traditional authority on whom, in the 18th century, the Dutch conferred the title of Kaiser (Keizer) and to whom the Portuguese gave the title of Emperor (Imperador). At one time, Wehali was the centre of a network of tributary states, which both the Dutch and Portuguese regarded as paramount to the political organisation of the island. This book is a study of Wehali in its contemporary setting as it continues to maintain its rituals and traditions. Significantly, Wehali is a ‘Female’ centre and its ‘Great Lord’ is considered to be a ‘Female’ lord. Whereas other Timorese societies are organised along male lines, in Wehali, all land, all property, all houses belong to women. Men are exchanged as husbands in marriage. Wehali is thus considered to be the ‘husband-giver’ to the surrounding realms on the island that look to its inner power as their source of life.

Download or read book Forest Primeval written by Vievee Francis and published by TriQuarterly Books. This book was released on 2016-01-31 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Another Anti-Pastoral," the opening poem of Forest Primeval, confesses that sometimes "words fail." With a "bleat in [her] throat," the poet identifies with the voiceless and wild things in the composed, imposed peace of the Romantic poets with whom she is in dialogue. Vievee Francis’s poems engage many of the same concerns as her poetic predecessors—faith in a secular age, the city and nature, aging, and beauty. Words certainly do not fail as Francis sets off into the wild world promised in the title. The wild here is not chaotic but rather free and finely attuned to its surroundings. The reader who joins her will emerge sensitized and changed by the enduring power of her work.

Download or read book THE SYNERMERGENCY written by James Pacifico and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-01-12 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there a super-crisis? " The problems of the world total something greater than their sum" (Juan Fuentes 1992) THE SYNERMERGENCY, a state of supercriticality, or "synergistic emergency" existing between all crises on Earth, known and unknown. In response to this potential of total global super-crisis, this clarion call to anything but arms is the first to discuss the problems of totally interrelated crises, and sound a call to harmony for the Rainbow Warriors everywhere. Global citizen Juan Fuentes creates a new philosophical system that inspires the twentysomething generation into world-saving global evolution, moving dramatically beyond all previous ideologies and into the cyber age of holistic ecology. A paradigm for the 1990s, and for futurity, this brilliant novel's very positive message of rational understanding succeeds in bridging technology and nature, competition and cooperation, rights, and human responsibilities. Not merely concerned with environmental crises, THE SYNERMERGENCY focuses on eight global problem areas called holons, which include basic survival; economics; politics; education, technology, and nature; religion; spirituality and metaphysics; style, the arts, and aesthetics. ese holons, systems within systems, combine in synergy, building toward the collapse of systems, as people are forced to respond by literally making everything better everywhere for everyone in a total planet-healing process. All things considered, James Pacifico presents a new worldview unlike any suggested before. We are quite fortunate to have THE SYNERMERGENCY, the ultimate in utopian thought. ***** An Ecotopian Philosophical Novel by James Pacifico Because you accept the truth, others shall lie about you and slander your reputation. Because you seek light, others shall keep you in the darkness and hide what little truth they have from you. Because you love life and live love, others shall hate you and try to hurt you. You are Rainbow Warriors. You shall conquer the foe, Babylon, and your children shall solve all the problems of the Earth. You are glorious brothers and sisters in your battle with death and evil. You all shall be victorious!
