Flight instructor Jamie Forbes guides a woman to landing her plane safely after her husband loses consciousness, then flies on to his own destination unimpressed by his act . . . flight instructors guide students every day. Only after she tells reporters that a stranger appeared in an airplane alongside hers and hypnotized her into landing, and after he meets his own guiding stranger does he solve the bigger mystery: how each of us creates, step by step, what seems to be the solid world around us. The best mysteries are the ones whose answers lie in front of us, in plain sight. The best solutions are those moments when all of a sudden we realize what we’ve known all along.

Download or read book Hypnotizing Maria written by Richard Bach and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this teaching fable, Richard Bach explores both flight and metaphysics. In the opening moments of the story, we meet Jamie Forbes, a pilot who guides a woman into landing a plane safely after her husband loses consciousness. She later claims it was like being hypnotized. Richard Bach, in this his twentieth book, has written a compelling fable about reality and suggestion. Bach explores deep spiritual and philosophical issues in this slim volume. Our true nature, it seems, is not bound by space and time. We live in a world full of appearances. If we stop accepting them as reality, the book suggests, these appearances will cease to be our reality. We enter this world to explore, to have fun, to learn, and to have shared experiences with the people we care about, but most of all to learn how to love and love again.

Book What If

    Book Details:
  • Author : Eldon Taylor
  • Publisher : Hay House, Inc
  • Release : 2011-03-15
  • ISBN : 1401930875
  • Pages : 290 pages

Download or read book What If written by Eldon Taylor and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2011-03-15 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if you awoke tomorrow with amnesia—no memory of who you are, what you like and dislike, and so on. Would you be the same person? What if, as in the movie The Matrix, you discovered that everything was a simulation and you were just a programmed component? What if everything you believed was false? Who would you be then? Eldon Taylor has been researching the power of the mind for more than 25 years. He has repeatedly demonstrated the overt attempts that have been made to control your thinking. While very interesting in theory, most of us do not understand this on a personal level. It is easy to understand the concept of Mind Programming when it is occurring with someone else, but most would deny that they too are victims. What If? is a very personal book. By using everyday situations and guiding you through numerous thought experiments, Eldon does an excellent job of peeling back the layers and revealing the dissonance in much of your thinking, beliefs, desires, and choices—contradictory beliefs held at the same time with no apparent awareness. Once you have seen your own mind with the filtered lenses removed, it is impossible to remain the same. That is why so many have praised this work as being absolutely life-changing—not just a fascinating read—but a transformational experience!

Book Liberation Unleashed

Download or read book Liberation Unleashed written by Ilona Ciunaite and published by New Harbinger Publications. This book was released on 2016-10-01 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Liberation Unleashed introduces you to the process of unraveling the false sense of a separate self at the center of your existence. With insightful metaphors, personal stories, and guided dialogues, this book points directly to our lack of separation and helps you move toward a new, more open reality of selfless bliss. Using the seven clear and focused steps presented, you’ll find liberation in realizing there is no individuated “I” and marvel at the true nature of things. Author Ilona Ciunaite’s search for the truth began when she first “experienced silence of the thinking mind, a sweet sense of being, contentment, peace,” and “feeling at home.” Driven by a desire to reach that state of oneness once more, her path led her through spiritual writings to the process of deconstruction and non-dual self-inquiry and finally to a peaceful emptiness of not knowing, but of simply being. It’s from that place that Ciunaite cocreated the popular Liberation Unleashed forum—a global Internet-based community helping people see through the illusion of a separate self—and it’s just that sense of unknowing peace she wishes to impart with this book. Liberation Unleashed is a lively, fresh, and moving account of the author’s own searching, liberation, and transformation, woven together with the stories of fellow seekers and a clear exposition of the simple, focused tools you can use to go through the “gateless gate.” With its conversational tone, provocative questions, and the presentation of the seven steps—“Clearing the path—meeting the fear,” “Strip away ALL expectations,” “Get in touch with the real,” “‘I’ is a thought,” “There is no separate self,” “How does it feel to see this?” and “Falling”—this book serves as an introductory how-to guide, demonstrating how to use the process of self-inquiry to get free from the falseness of the separate self and realize a blissful oneness. So many of us go through life feeling isolated, searching for ourselves, or seeking a more authentic reality through religion, spirituality, or other, more unconventional means of expanding consciousness. Now, with this book and its guiding principles, you’ll learn how to look deeply into the nature of self and existence; combat the anxieties, fears, mental blocks, and reservations that can arise in self-inquiry; and see the simple beauty of the everyday moment.

When Mary is only eighteen, her father dies and leaves her his secluded estate of Singer Island. Mary hasn’t been there since her birth. On her return to the island strange visions begin to come to her. Mary soon realizes that she is being haunted. Mary dreams of being in the center of the island at an altar, she feels evil all around her, then she awakens to a cold room. Her room is always cold, no matter how hot it is outside. She sees fleeting images in the upstairs hall near the stairs to the third floor. When she calls out they disappear. Mary learns from Priscilla that her mother died here on Singer Island after her birth. Her mother, Beth, was always talking about her room being cold and seeing people on the upstairs landing. Priscilla thought it was from the fact the island was isolated and that Beth was young and far from home. Before Mary was born Beth went insane. Her father Charles was overwrought with guilt for bringing her to the place she feared the most. After Mary’s birth, Beth died. Charles could not stay on the island where Beth was so tormented, so he asked Priscilla to take Mary for awhile until he recovered. Priscilla took Mary to Monet where she had a small cottage and raised her. Mary never knew her father or mother, and now she was here on the island to try to find her past.

Book Readercentric Writing for Digital Media

Download or read book Readercentric Writing for Digital Media written by David Hailey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-12-05 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an altogether new approach to writing and evaluating writing in digital media. It suggests that usability theory provides few tools for evaluating content, because usability theory assumes only one kind of writing on the Internet. The author suggests three models: user-centric (usability model), persuasion-centric (encouraging the reader to linger and be persuaded--Canon camera ads), and quality-centric (encouraging the reader to linger and learn or be entertained because of the quality of the writing--NASA.gov and YouTube). Designed for professional writers and writing students, this text provides a rubric for writing in digital media, but more importantly, it provides a rubric and vocabulary for identifying and explaining problems in copy that already exists. The Internet has become a pastiche of cut-and-paste content, often placed by non-writers to fill space for no particular reason or by computers with no oversight from humans (e.g., Amazon.com). Because these snippets are typically on topic (but often for the wrong purpose or audience), professional writers have difficulty identifying the problems and an even harder time explaining them. Finding an effective tool for identifying and explaining problems in digital content becomes a particularly important problem as writers increasingly struggle with growing complications in complex information systems (systems that create and manage their own content with little human intervention). Being able to look at a body of copy and immediately see that it is problematic is an important skill that is lacking in a surprising number of professional writers.
