Book Hypervelocity Impact Phenomena

Download or read book Hypervelocity Impact Phenomena written by Karl R. Becker and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The parameters governing the failure of thin metal plates under the impact of high-speed fragments are being studied; special emphasis is placed on the lightweight structural alloys. The geometrical features of the perforations, together with the spatial, mass, and velocity distributions of the ejecta produced in the perforation process, are considered. A few select target materials e.g., Al and Pb are currently being investigated under impact conditions that involve the same projectile geometry but different impact velocities. (Author).

Book High Velocity Impact Dynamics

Download or read book High Velocity Impact Dynamics written by Jonas A. Zukas and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 1990-11-08 with total page 968 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This compendium of mathematical techniques for the modeling and simulation of high-velocity impacts presents the various analytical and experimental aspects of impact dynamics and describes the responses of a variety of materials and structures under impact. Coverage is extended beyond that of the author's Impact Dynamics and deals with new topics in impacts involving inert materials, including the dynamic response to energetic and inert materials. Treatment uses classical mechanics along with the conservation laws, combined with failure analysis.

Book Hypervelocity Impact by Collision of Two Projectiles

Download or read book Hypervelocity Impact by Collision of Two Projectiles written by W. K. Rogers and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A high collision velocity was achieved by firing a steel pellet from a small light-gas gun at a target disk fired from a large smoothbore gun. Through the use of a higher velocity target gun and a modified light-gas pellet gun, the impact velocities obtained were higher than those in the Phase I program reported in BRL Technical Note 1337, August 1960 (AD-245 209). The techniques exploit the use of existing equipment to reach these hypervelocities in a range where the need for impact data is urgent. Collisions were predicted with reliability and precision. The experiment demonstrates the feasibility of adding significant target velocities to many hypervelocity launching techniques. The report discusses the techniques, instrumentation and results of the experiment. (Author).

Book Hypervelocity Impacts in Space and Planetology

Download or read book Hypervelocity Impacts in Space and Planetology written by J. A. M. McDonnell and published by Elsevier Science & Technology. This book was released on 1997 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paperback. This publication contains 36 papers taken from three symposia of COSPAR Scientific Commission B, which took place during the Thirty-first COSPAR Scientific Assembly, held in Birmingham, UK, during July 1996. The major areas covered by the symposia and which form this volume are as follows: the particulate space environment, problems in comparative planetology, and laboratory investigations relevant to planetology. Papers on the particulate space environment reflect advances in evaluation of the space environment, the deeper understanding of hypervelocity impact phenomena, and hold interest for the understanding of the natural environment and space debris. Papers on problems in comparative planetology investigate differences in impact melting on the surfaces of different planets, the geology of Alba Petra on Mars and attempts to interpret the geology of that region in terms of the geology of corona structures found on Venus. Papers concerning la
