Book Characterization of Barium Titanate and Strontium Titanate Nanoparticles Synthesized by Hydrothermal and Molten Salt Methods

Download or read book Characterization of Barium Titanate and Strontium Titanate Nanoparticles Synthesized by Hydrothermal and Molten Salt Methods written by Jin Zhou and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis mainly focused on investigating the suitable synthesis methods to get barium titanate (BaTiO3) and strontium titanate (SrTiO3) nanocubes without using any capping agents. Two synthesis methods (hydrothermal and molten-salt) were used to synthesize BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to identify phases and determine the phase purity of synthesized BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 nanoparticles. The morphology and formation mechanisms were investigated through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was verified that BaTiO3 nanocubes can be successfully synthesized by molten-salt method, while SrTiO3 nanocubes were obtained by hydrothermal method. The synthesized nanocubes for both materials have high crystallinity and high purity. The formation mechanism of BaTiO3 nanocubes was proposed due to the low surface energy of {100} crystal planes. Crystal planes with low surface energy are preferred in the crystal growth stage. The formation of SrTiO3 nanocubes was proposed due to the crystal growth of {100} crystal planes and face-to-face attachment. These mechanisms provided clear explanations for the formation of BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 nanocubes without using any capping agents, which can be applied to other metal oxide nanocubes. Future studies can be focused on the synthesis of other metal oxide nanocubes by using the formation mechanisms proposed in this thesis.

Book Synthesis and Characterization of Lanthanum Doped Barium Titanate for High k Dielectric Materials

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of Lanthanum Doped Barium Titanate for High k Dielectric Materials written by Nur Farahin Abdul Hamid and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are three main parts of this research. First, the parent compositions of pure BaTiO3 were studied as a standard sample. The optimum temperatures for synthesis were determined based on pure BaTiO3 sample. Second, the solid solution limit for La-doped BaTiO3 were investigated. For the effect of doping, the analogue’s composition of Ba1-xLaxTiO3 and Ba1-xLaxTi1-x/4O3 are synthesized and studied ; next, the structural properties of lanthanum doped barium titanate was characterized by using X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Rietveld Refinement analysis. The analysis followed by electrical characterization using impedance spectroscopy.

Book Synthesis and Investigation of Properties of Barium Titanate Doped with Ferromagnetic Materials for Use in Spin Field Effect Transistors

Download or read book Synthesis and Investigation of Properties of Barium Titanate Doped with Ferromagnetic Materials for Use in Spin Field Effect Transistors written by Kapildev Kulkarni and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The fundamental aspect of this research was to synthesize nano particles of certain materials and to investigate their properties related to potential use in spin-field effect transistor (Spin-FET). Barium titanate was doped with ferromagnetic material and nano particles of this material were synthesized using a sol-gel process. Sol-gels were characterized for their size and shape using an atomic force microscope and a scanning electron microscope. Composition of these compounds and the distribution of dopents were investigated using x-ray fluorescence and the scanning electron microscope. Dielectric properties were measured using high precision impedance, capacitance, and resistance (LCR) meter. Barium titanate, when doped with ferromagnetic materials, becomes ferroelectric material. Ferroelectric materials have finite polarization even in the absence of an applied electric field, which can be exploited for their use as source/drain in spin-FET. The sintering temperature and pH of the sol-gel solution play important roles in determining the dielectric constants, particle size and distribution of dopent in barium titanate. It was found that iron has advantage over nickel and cobalt as a dopent, as it has high electrical susceptibility"--Leaf iii.

Book Handbook of Hydrothermal Technology

Download or read book Handbook of Hydrothermal Technology written by K. Byrappa and published by William Andrew. This book was released on 2012-12-31 with total page 796 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quartz, zeolites, gemstones, perovskite type oxides, ferrite, carbon allotropes, complex coordinated compounds and many more -- all products now being produced using hydrothermal technology. Handbook of Hydrothermal Technology brings together the latest techniques in this rapidly advancing field in one exceptionally useful, long-needed volume. The handbook provides a single source for understanding how aqueous solvents or mineralizers work under temperature and pressure to dissolve and recrystallize normally insoluble materials, and decompose or recycle any waste material. The result, as the authors show in the book, is technologically the most efficient method in crystal growth, materials processing, and waste treatment. The book gives scientists and technologists an overview of the entire subject including: À Evolution of the technology from geology to widespread industrial use. À Descriptions of equipment used in the process and how it works.À Problems involved with the growth of crystals, processing of technological materials, environmental and safety issues.À Analysis of the direction of today's technology. In addition, readers get a close look at the hydrothermal synthesis of zeolites, fluorides, sulfides, tungstates, and molybdates, as well as native elements and simple oxides. Delving into the commercial production of various types, the authors clarify the effects of temperature, pressure, solvents, and various other chemical components on the hydrothermal processes. - Gives an overview of the evolution of Hydrothermal Technology from geology to widespread industrial use - Describes the equipment used in the process and how it works - Discusses problems involved with the growth of crystals, processing of technological materials, and environmental and safety issues
