Download or read book Hydrologic Investigations in Support of Reservations of Water Within the Thorne River Watershed in Southeast Alaska written by Jason Hass and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Thorne River watershed, located in Southeast Alaska, supports healthy populations of anadromous fish species. Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish selected the Thorne River and its tributaries as candidates for reservations of water to protect fish habitat, migration, and propagation. In order to collect the data necessary to file reservation of water applications, a streamgage was operated on Thorne River and discharge measurement stations were operated on the North Thorne River, Goose Creek, and Rio Beaver River. The streamgage and discharge stations were operated for 5 complete years, from August 2012 to October 2017. Daily streamflow data were used to prepare reservation of water applications for each stream. After 5 years of data were collected and analyzed, reservation of water applications were completed. These applications were submitted to and accepted by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources on May 29, 2018. The applications are now in pending status until the adjudication process begins.

Book Hydrologic Investigations in Support of Reservations of Water on Peterson Creek Near Amalga Harbor

Download or read book Hydrologic Investigations in Support of Reservations of Water on Peterson Creek Near Amalga Harbor written by Jarrod J. Sowa and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Peterson Creek watershed, located near Amalga Harbor 19 miles north of Juneau in Southeast Alaska, supports rearing, spawning, and migration of various anadromous fish species. Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish selected Peterson Creek as a candidate water body for a reservation of water. To collect the data necessary to file a reservation of water application, a streamgage was operated on Peterson Creek from September 27, 2012, to November 20, 2017. Streamflow data collected at the streamgage was used to prepare a reservation of water application to reserve instream flows in one reach of Peterson Creek. The original application was filed using 2 years of preliminary data and was accepted by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources and given a priority date of September 2, 2015. After 5 years of streamflow data were collected and analyzed, the original application was amended incorporating the new data. Peterson Creek’s mean annual streamflow measured at the streamgage averaged 48 ft/s. The median monthly discharge ranged from 10 ft/s in March to 40 ft/s in April.

Book Hydrologic Investigations in Support of Reservations of Water for Turner Eagle and Orchard Lakes Alaska

Download or read book Hydrologic Investigations in Support of Reservations of Water for Turner Eagle and Orchard Lakes Alaska written by Jason Hass and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Turner, Eagle, and Orchard lakes, located in Southeast Alaska, support healthy populations of nonanadromous coastal cutthroat trout (CCT) and have each been classified by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game as trophy cutthroat trout lakes. Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish selected Turner, Eagle, and Orchard lakes as candidates for reservations of water to protect CCT habitat, migration, and propagation. In order to collect the data necessary to file reservation of water applications, lake gages were operated on each lake. The gages were operated for five complete years, from September 2010 to October 2015. Lake elevation data were used to prepare reservation of water applications for each lake. These applications were filed using one year of preliminary data and were accepted by Alaska Department of Natural Resources and given priority dates in 2012. After five years of lake level data were collected and analyzed, new reservation of water applications were submitted to and accepted by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources on June 15, 2016. The applications are now in pending status until the adjudication process begins. Mean daily lake elevations on Turner Lake ranged from a high of 86.22 ft above mean sea level (AMSL) recorded on August 22, 2011 to a low of 78.41 ft AMSL recorded on April 6, 2012. Eagle Lake mean daily lake elevations ranged from a high of 305.59 ft AMSL recorded on September 13, 2012 to a low of 300.11 ft AMSL recorded on March 6, 2014. Orchard Lake elevations ranged from a high of 150.59 ft AMSL recorded on October 10, 2015 to a low of 141.19 ft AMSL recorded on March 6, 2014. Average annual lake elevations were 81.5 ft AMSL, 301.4 ft AMSL, and 143.7 ft AMSL for Turner Lake, Eagle Lake and Orchard Lake, respectively. Stream longitudinal profile and water temperature data on inlet tributaries to each lake was also collected during the study period.

Book Hydrologic Investigation in Support of Reservation of Water on Windfall Creek 2013 to 2018

Download or read book Hydrologic Investigation in Support of Reservation of Water on Windfall Creek 2013 to 2018 written by Jarrod J. Sowa and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Windfall Creek watershed, located 18 miles northwest of Juneau in Southeast Alaska, is an important freshwater sport fishery that provides habitat for many fish species at various life stages. In 2013, ADF&G began a multiyear project to collect the hydrologic data necessary to file a reservation of water application to protect instream flows within one reach of Windfall Creek. To collect the data necessary to file a reservation of water application, a streamgage was operated on Windfall Creek from July 17, 2013, to September 30, 2018. Streamflow data collected at the streamgage was used to prepare a reservation of water application to reserve instream flows in one reach of Windfall Creek. Instream flows were requested to attempt to mimic the natural seasonal patterns of streamflows observed within Windfall Creek. The original application was filed using the first 14 months of streamflow data collected and was accepted by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources on September 2, 2015. After 5 years of streamflow data were collected and analyzed, the original application was amended incorporating the additional data.

Book Hydrologic Investigation in Support of Reservations of Water on the Little Susitna River

This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From August 2017 to October 2020, biologists with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game collected the streamflow data necessary to file a reservation of water on the Little Susitna River. Reservations of water protect instream flows necessary for fish habitat, migration, and propagation. A streamgage was installed on the Little Susitna River and remained in operation for the duration of the project. Streamgage data was combined with previous studies to compile five years of daily streamflow data for the Little Susitna River. This hydrologic record combined with available fish use information will be used to file an application for a reservation of water with the Department of Natural Resources.
