Book Upper Kobuk River Tributaries

Download or read book Upper Kobuk River Tributaries written by Nancy Deschu and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A hydrologic evaluation of tributaries in the upper Kobuk River in the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve was conducted in June 1994. The purpose was to determine the baseline hydrologic and water quality conditions of both north-flowing and south-flowing tributaries of the Kobuk River within the park. This evaluation was conducted to provide baseline information in case road development, provided for in federal legislation, occurs in this relatively undisturbed watershed.

This book was released on 1999 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The objectives of the current study were to (1) inventory and characterize the major lakes of GAAR [Gates of the Arctic] to determine their trophic status and evaluate whether phytoplankton are limited by nitrogen or phosphorus; (2) develop a baseline inventory of water quality characteristics important to aquatic life in major lakes; (3) identify and document the magnitude and direction of changes in water quality of the John River at several sites in GAAR to determine if runoff and leachate from the village of Anaktuvuk Pass alter conditions in the river; and (4) develop a long-term monitoring plan for use by GAAR staff."--Leaf 3.

Book Water Quality and Ground water surface water Interactions Along the John River Near Anaktuvuk Pass Alaska 2002 2003

Download or read book Water Quality and Ground water surface water Interactions Along the John River Near Anaktuvuk Pass Alaska 2002 2003 written by Edward H. Moran and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study of the hydrology of the John River headwaters was conducted due to concern of possible water-quality effects from effluent from the Anaktuvuk Pass wastewater treatment plant. The village is located within the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve boundaries. Sampling was conducted in the upper John River and in the tributaries that form the river near the village.

Book Water Quality and Flow Data Chulitna River Basin Southwest Alaska October 2009 June 2012

Download or read book Water Quality and Flow Data Chulitna River Basin Southwest Alaska October 2009 June 2012 written by U.S. Department of the Interior and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-03 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chulitna River basin in southwest Alaska drains an area of about 1,160 square miles, with the lower 158 square miles of the basin in Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. Water from this basin influences Lake Clark ecosystems that support salmon that, in part, sustain the Bristol Bay fishery.

Book Water Quality of the Chokosna Gilahina Lakina Rivers and Long Lake Watershed Along Mccarthy Road Wrangell St Elias National Park and Preserve Alaska 2007 08

Download or read book Water Quality of the Chokosna Gilahina Lakina Rivers and Long Lake Watershed Along Mccarthy Road Wrangell St Elias National Park and Preserve Alaska 2007 08 written by Timothy P. Brabets and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-07-10 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chokosna, Gilahina, and Lakina River basins, and the Long Lake watershed are located along McCarthy Road in Wrangell–St. Elias National Park and Preserve. The rivers and lake support a large run of sockeye (red) salmon that is important to the commercial and recreational fisheries in the larger Copper River. To gain a better understanding of the water quality conditions of these watersheds, these basins were studied as part of a cooperative study with the National Park Service during the open water periods in 2007 and 2008.

Book Baseline Water Quality Study Study Plan Section 5 5 Initial Study Report

Download or read book Baseline Water Quality Study Study Plan Section 5 5 Initial Study Report written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A baseline water quality study was started in 2012 and continued through the winter 2013/2014 winter season to document historical water quality in order to assess the effects of the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project on water quality in the Susitna River basin. The study area includes the Susitna River starting at river mile 19.9 (for water temperature monitoring) and 29.9 (for other water quality monitoring) to river mile 235.2 (Oshetna River) and selected tributaries within the proposed transmission lines and access corridors. Data collected in the 1970s and 1980s were evaluated in this study. Meteorological data were collected at various stations. The study included surface water physical, chemical, and bacterial conditions; metals concentrations in sediment and fish tissues; and a pilot Thermal Infrared Remote (TIR) sensing effort to obtain data to map the groundwater discharge and possible extent of thermal refugia. This study is to be completed in 2014, and the data will be used in the Water Quality Modeling Study to predict Project effects under alternative Project operations.
