Book Integration of the Hydrologic Simulation Program FORTRAN HSPF Watershed Water Quality Model Into the Watershed Modeling System WMS

Download or read book Integration of the Hydrologic Simulation Program FORTRAN HSPF Watershed Water Quality Model Into the Watershed Modeling System WMS written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The integration of the watershed water quality model Hydrologic Simulation Program-FORTRAN (HSPF) into the Watershed Modeling System (WMS) was initiated as part of an overall goal of the Water Quality Research Program to provide water quality capabilities within the framework of a comprehensive graphical modeling environment for conducting hydrologic and water quality analysis. The WMS interface creates a way for the user to input a multitude of parameters into the input file and then to run HSPF to get the required output. The input parameters are linked to all the tools within WMS, including automated basin delineation and parameter definition using a graphical user interface. The objective of the interface developed in WMS is to provide graphical representation of HSPF data, as well as automate the definition of many of the required parameters. Many of the basic variables required for HSPF input are computed as part of WMS's basic functionality; additionally, specialty functions have been added to WMS to enable the usage of HSPF directly with data output from WMS. This report describes the initial linkage of HSPF into the WMS.

Download or read book Watershed Models written by Vijay P. Singh and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2010-09-28 with total page 678 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Watershed modeling is at the heart of modern hydrology, supplying rich information that is vital to addressing resource planning, environmental, and social problems. Even in light of this important role, many books relegate the subject to a single chapter while books devoted to modeling focus only on a specific area of application. Recognizing the

Book Quality Assurance Project Plan for HSPF Model for the Lake Thunderbird Watershed

Download or read book Quality Assurance Project Plan for HSPF Model for the Lake Thunderbird Watershed written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In light of the unique challenges associated with reducing nonpoint source contributions, DEQ is proposing the use of a watershed-based plan in lieu of a total maximum daily load (TMDL) for Lake Thunderbird. The scientific basis for the plan development includes two water quality models: the Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code (EFDC) model for the Lake and the Hydrologic Simulation Program-FORTRAN (HSPF) model for the contributing watershed. The models will be used to establish nutrients (phosphorus and nitrogen) and turbidity reduction goals from the watershed, a key component of the watershed-based plan. The models will also provide information on sources of loadings and potential management options. Output from the HSPF watershed model serves as the input for the EFDC lake model. This QAPP addresses the HSPF modeling process."--Page 11.

Book Maintenance and Testing of Hydrological Simulation Program FORTRAN HSPF

Download or read book Maintenance and Testing of Hydrological Simulation Program FORTRAN HSPF written by Robert C. Johanson and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Hydrological Simulation Program -- FORTRAN is a mathematical model that simulates hydrology and water quality in natural and man-made water systems. This report describes the work involved in maintaining and testing HSPF over a one-year period following its initial development. An account is given of the chronology of major events during the maintenance work. The testing included work with hypothetical data and checks against outputs produced by three predecessor models, the ARM, NPS, and HSP-QUALITY models. Through this process it was determined that the HSPF model functioned as designed."--Abstract.
