Book Organofluorine Chemistry

    Book Details:
  • Author : Richard D. Chambers
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 1997-09-18
  • ISBN : 9783540631712
  • Pages : 268 pages

Download or read book Organofluorine Chemistry written by Richard D. Chambers and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-09-18 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The excitement of the chemistry of organofluorine compounds stems from the unique reactions that arise and the "special effects" that introduction of fluorine impart on a molecule. Indeed, these effects are now exploited in a remarkable array of applications the whole of the chemical, pharmaceutical, and plant-protection industries. In this two-volume set, we have gathered authors with immense experience in various aspects of their fields and each is a world-authority on the important topics which they have described. The first volume treats the chemistry of fluorinated alkenes, which are important "building-blocks" for the synthesis of a range of fluorinated systems and are used widely in industry. The second volume is directed to techniques and synthons for obtaining fluorinated compounds.

Book Thermochemical and Chemical Kinetic Data for Fluorinated Hydrocarbons

Download or read book Thermochemical and Chemical Kinetic Data for Fluorinated Hydrocarbons written by D. R. Burgess and published by . This book was released on 1997-01 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive, detailed chemical kinetic mechanism was developed and is presented for C1 and C2 fluorinated hydrocarbon destruction and flame suppression. Existing fluorinated hydrocarbon thermochemistry and kinetics were compiled from the literature and evaluated. For reactions where no or limited kinetics was available, these data were estimated by analogy to hydrocarbon reactions. The chemistry was modeled considering different transport conditions and using different fuels, equivalence ratios, agents, and agent concentrations.

Book Fluorine in Organic Chemistry

Book Aromatic Fluorination

    Book Details:
  • Author : James H. Clark
  • Publisher : CRC Press
  • Release : 2018-01-10
  • ISBN : 1351086782
  • Pages : 362 pages

Download or read book Aromatic Fluorination written by James H. Clark and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-10 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Academia and industry join forces in Aromatic Fluorination, as an expert from each domain contributes to this new text on fluorination of carbocyclic and heterocyclic rings. The book begins with a discussion of fluorine's unique combination of properties, including size, electronic effects, and hydrophobicity, as well as the historical development of its product applications. It explains methods for introducing fluorine into an aromatic ring, focusing on nucleophilic fluorine transfer reactions. The role of catalysts, solvents, and other variables are examined, and the scope and limitations of the methods are discussed. Of particular interest to those working in non-specialist laboratories, Aromatic Fluorination includes detailed descriptions of the new electrophilic routes to fluoroaromatics, in addition to traditional routes and alternative methods involving radical chemistry. Because one of the most important fluorine-containing substituent is CF3, the book explains routes to benzotrifluorides (ArCF3), including traditional industrial methods and modern alternatives employing C-1 halofluorocarbons and other fluoroaliphatics. An alternative to CF3 is CF3S, and several methods of synthesizing aromatic CF3S-containing molecules are described. Since the successful development and diverse applications of aromatic fluorine compounds have led to the search for new compounds and novel substituents, the incorporation of other substituents is also explored. Aromatic Fluorination concludes with discussion of the factors responsible for the successful development of pharmaceutical, agrochemical and liquid crystal applications and the potential for applications in high-performance polymers and other areas. This section also describes in detail important industrial aromatic fluorination processes and the relative merits of different process technologies and their costs.
