Book Hydraulic Fluid Power Accelerated Method for Determining the Wear Characteristics of a Hydraulic Component Due to Contaminants

Download or read book Hydraulic Fluid Power Accelerated Method for Determining the Wear Characteristics of a Hydraulic Component Due to Contaminants written by Ship Fluid Systems Committee and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Recommended Practice defines a procedure, which will aid in assessing the contaminant wear characteristics of hydraulic components. This procedure utilizes a very high level of contaminant that permits an accelerated test to determine the wear effects of contamination in a relatively short period. This recommended practice utilizes the contamination sensitivity test circuit identified in SAE J2470. SAE J2470 provides a test procedure to identify the sensitivity of valves to sticking or degraded performance due to contaminants but does not identify or measure the wear characteristics of hydraulic components due to contaminants. Some standards have attempted to predict the wear characteristics over the life of the component but often do not standardize the contaminants and are costly to run because of their long duration. This Recommended Practice provides an accelerated procedure to determine the wear characteristics of various hydraulic components by using the SAE J2470 test apparatus with a very high level of contaminants that permits testing and comparison of designs in a relatively short time.

Book Assessing Cleanliness of Hydraulic Fluid Power Components and Systems

Download or read book Assessing Cleanliness of Hydraulic Fluid Power Components and Systems written by CTTC C1, Hydraulic Systems and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To describe laboratory methods for determining and reporting the contaminant level of the wetted portion of hydraulic fluid power components, parts, subsystems and systems, and of fill fluids. For each type of item it provides a method of obtaining the liquid sample and the contamination level thereof. It also includes procedures for establishing a sampling plan and guidelines for establishing levels of acceptance, but does not set those levels. To provide a basis for measuring and reporting cleanliness levels so that built-in contamination and premature failures of hydraulic systems can minimized.

Book Hydraulic Fluid Power Valves Method for Assessing the Lock Sensitivity to Contaminants

Download or read book Hydraulic Fluid Power Valves Method for Assessing the Lock Sensitivity to Contaminants written by Ship Fluid Systems Committee and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Recommended Practice defines a procedure, which will aid in assessing the contaminant sensitivity of hydraulic valves. The approach taken defines a test procedure with flexibility for testing valves in a wide range of contamination levels. The user of this procedure must establish the contamination levels for testing. Three levels are suggested which should cover the range for most valve applications. This procedure does not establish the contaminant sensitivity requirements for any valve. The user of this procedure needs to be aware of the system contamination level that the valve will operate in and select test contamination levels significantly higher than the operating level to assess the suitability of the valve. The test procedure permits a valve to be tested without disassembly and therefore permits protection of proprietary design information. This procedure assesses the contamination sensitivity of valves by contaminant lock. The procedure indicates the sensitivity of valves by contaminant lock due to various sizes of contaminants. The test is designed to assess the contaminant sensitivity of valves in tests of relatively short duration. See Appendix A for guidance as to how the tests and their results may be used. The tests are purposely designed to be severe in order to be applicable to a wide range of contaminated environments. The use of valves in many applications and for various purposes results in differing levels of acceptable performance. That is, the same valve may be unacceptable - in relation to operation in a contaminated environment - in one application and be acceptable in another. The user must make that decision based on a review of the expected level of the specific application and the test results obtained. NOTE - See 7.2 if document is to be contractually invoked.

Book Hydraulic Fluid Power Fluid Contamination Determination of Particulate Contamination by the Counting Method Using a Microscope

Download or read book Hydraulic Fluid Power Fluid Contamination Determination of Particulate Contamination by the Counting Method Using a Microscope written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In hydraulic fluid power systems, power is transmitted and controlled through a liquid under pressure within an enclosed circuit. The liquid is both a lubricant and power-transmitting medium. Reliable system performance requires control of the fluid medium. Qualitative and quantitative determination of particulate contamination in the fluid medium requires precision in obtaining the sample and determining the nature and extent of contamination. The microscope method of determining fluid contamination involves counting illuminated filtered particles under a microscope. The method employs membrane filters, which maintain fluid cleanliness by removing insoluble particles.
