Book Gamma Cameras for Interventional and Intraoperative Imaging

Download or read book Gamma Cameras for Interventional and Intraoperative Imaging written by Alan C. Perkins and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-11-03 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gamma cameras are traditionally large devices that are situated in nuclear medicine departments, but recent advances in detector design have enabled the production of compact gamma cameras that allow nuclear imaging at the patient bedside and in the operating theatre. Gamma Cameras for Interventional and Intraoperative Imaging is the first book to cover this new area of imaging, and provides a unique insight into the experimental and clinical use of small field of view gamma cameras in hospitals. This book explores advances in the design and operation of compact gamma cameras and conducts a thorough review of current SFOV systems, before exploring the clinical applications of the technology. It is an essential reference for surgeons, operating theatre staff, clinical scientists (medical physicists), technologists, nuclear physicians and radiologists whose patients could benefit from this technology.

Book Nuclear Medicine Ultrasonics and Thermography

Download or read book Nuclear Medicine Ultrasonics and Thermography written by Sol Nudelman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The material in this volume was prepared and collected over the past four years with the growing realization that a technical revolution was in progress for diagnostic medicine. It became clear that for the wide variety of imaging instruments and methods finding their way into applications for research and clinical medicine, there was a scarcity of reference and text books for the scientist and engineer beginning in the field. Thus what began as a relatively small project for a single volume has grown into certainly two and probably three volumes to adequately cover the field. This first volume is expected to be followed within a few months by a second volume, dealing with diagnostic radiology, and within a year by a third volume, covering most other aspects of medicine that utilize spectra from the ultraviolet through the visible into the near-infrared. The chapters in this book are divided into three groups. The first group deals with nuclear medicine and includes Chapters 1-8. These chapters are arranged to begin with a broad introduction to the subject (Chapter 1) followed by a sequence of four chapters (Chapters 2-5) that provide an in-depth review of the imaging instrumentation developed for the field. Chapter 6 deals with "evaluation" of imaging device per formance, while Chapters 7 and 8 discuss two areas of considerable re search activity.

Book Design and Evaluation of Gamma Imaging Systems of Compton and Hybrid Cameras

Download or read book Design and Evaluation of Gamma Imaging Systems of Compton and Hybrid Cameras written by Yuxin Feng and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For medical applications in proton therapy, a Compton camera system to image the gamma-ray emission during treatment was designed and investigated. Gamma rays and X-rays emitted during treatment illustrate the energy deposition along the path of the proton beams and provide an opportunity for online dose verification. This Compton camera is designed to be capable of imaging gamma rays in 3D and is one of the candidates for imaging gamma emission during the treatment of proton therapy beside of the approach of positron emission tomography. In order to meet the requirement for spatial resolution of approximately 5 mm or less to meaningfully verify the dose via imaging gamma rays of 511 keV to 2 MeV, position sensing techniques with pixilated LaBr3(Ce) crystal were applied in each detector. The pixilated LaBr3 (Ce) crystal was used in both the scattering and absorbing detectors. Image reconstruction algorithms of OS-EML were applied to obtain 3D images.

Book Hybrid Collimation for Industrial Gamma ray Imaging

Download or read book Hybrid Collimation for Industrial Gamma ray Imaging written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Portable photon imaging devices with a broad energy range of sensitivity, adequate angular resolution and high efficiency are useful in applications such as environmental remediation and industrial surveys. The vast majority of past systems built for these applications have relied on mechanical collimation although a few have used electronic collimation. To our knowledge, no devices have been built that exploit the benefits of both mechanical and electronic collimation in the same system. The combination of a mechanically-collimated camera with an electronically-collimated camera offers both the high efficiency and good angular resolution typical in a mechanically-collimated camera for lower energies and the uncoupling of spatial resolution and efficiency provided by an electronically-collimated camera at higher energies.
