Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I personally would like to thank everyone that has purchased and read this book and hope that it has blessed your lives as this journey has blessed mine. If I can help somebody as I pass this way then my living will not be in vain. All too often, we go thru trials in life and some are so shameful we wish to forget them and never mention them. Sometimes we are convinced we are alone in a trial of this magnitude and that surely no one would ever understand this madness. If the devil can convince you of this he has won because his job is to isolate us so that depression takes over or rather as the word tells us to sift us as wheat, One thing Ive learned in the last several years of my life that even though its my story, its for Gods glory. Situations that are shameful, hurtful, no matter what, theres a lesson which in turn is a blessing. Quite often the trial or situation is not even about me, but God allowed me to endure it because he trusts me to share it with someone struggling in the same area and to reach back and pull someone else forward. The devil has often tried to convinced me that its my fault for my trials and something Ive either done wrong or simply that God has turned his back on me and is ignoring me. I know for myself that the only thing God cant do is lie and fail and in his word he says that he will NEVER leave me or forsake me so in that I know the trial is for another reason and not because God has bailed out on me. Ive learned to apply I Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Be Blessed and Be a Blessing and remember to live a life of Purpose and on Purpose, Its yours.Walk in it!!!

Book Burning for Freedom

Download or read book Burning for Freedom written by Anurupa Cinar and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2012-06-13 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of one mansVinayak Damodar Savarkars sacrifice of his name, fame, comfort, and family life in the fifty years of his quest for the freedom of his beloved motherland, India. It is the story of politics and power plays. Exposed here is the reality that lies behind the mask of Truth; exposed are the shenanigans of Mahatma Gandhi in the Freedom Movement of India. The reality is a far cry from the rosy picture presented by what passes as history. Here, Savarkars life is creatively intertwined with a fictional character, Keshav Wadkar, taking the reader from the horrors of the Cellular Jail in 1913 to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. Savarkar fought to preserve the integrity of India, to reinstate the honor of his motherland without ripping her heart out. For the emancipation of his beloved country and people, he suffered agonies and gross injustices at the hands of the British government, Gandhi-Nehru-led Indian National Congress, and the successive Governments of free India. That his contribution to India should be negated to bolster the political aspirations of any political party is unacceptable. The truth cannotand shall notbe hidden!

Book excerpt: Nowhere else in the world have both Islam and Christianity been more instrumental in shaping the history of a people and their way of life than in Africa. African Muslims and Christians have a lot in common, including kinship ties, shared languages and citizenship. Yet, despite the centuries of deep historical links and harmonious existence between the two religions, new challenges threaten this harmony. Conflicts involving Christians and Muslims in places like Sudan, Nigeria and Ivory Coast are common. These conflicts are fueled primarily by ignorance, stereotyping and prejudice, which in turn breed fear, suspicion and even hatred, in some cases leading to violence. My Neighbour's Faith sheds light on the beliefs and teaching of Islam by addressing matters of contemporary importance to Christians and the wider non-Muslim audience. It presents the human face of Islam--the face of a close relative, a neighbour, a teacher and even a head of state--in a balanced and critical way that gives a credible view of Islam.

Léah, an apparition, rises from the sea like a siren one morning off the coast of Cap Haitien, clothes untouched by water, blue stones wrapped around her neck, eyes blind to light. Soon to be a mother, Carmen returns to Haiti from Canada as if responding to the call of the vodou spirits. Alexis flees the island in search of a land without strife. Finally, there is Philippe, who walks the northern hills alert to ancestral voices still haunting its peaks and valleys. Doing what he must to get by in the tourist trade and now weakened by illness, he struggles to maintain spiritual dignity and a hold on hope. First published in 2003 and shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers First Book Prize in the Caribbean and Canada region, Spirit of Haiti is a novel about confronting the failings of the human heart and the triumph of memory over despair.

Book Holy Scribbling

Download or read book Holy Scribbling written by Katherine Roberts Moore and published by Abbott Press. This book was released on 2012-09-20 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For some writers, scribbling is minimalon the periphery of their work. In Holy Scribbling, the scribbles take center stage and become the means to the message. With sometimes quirky insight, Katherine Moore takes us to sacred windows that allow the spirituality of ordinary scenes to emerge. From the stark beauty of a Mystic Dawn to the serenity of Simple Solitude, we experience the mysteries of nature, along with the routine demands of relationships and circumstances. Holy Scribbling is a personal book, but the images in these works expand into a universal understanding of everyman. In poetic form, a sense of reality is captured with a minimum of words. Paradoxically, it is her appreciation of words that enhances a deep spiritual sense of solitude and silence. As a contemplative commentary on glimpses of life, Holy Scribbling offers you the chance to see not only yourself, but also, possibly, God. Take the journey with Katherine Moore through this meditative volume of verse, and you will experience more deeply that you are alive! Jonathan Kelley, D.Min., LPC, director of the Presbyterian Counseling Center, Brunswick County, North Carolina Katherine Moores collection of poems is visceral and haunting, yet joyful. She reaches into her soul and shows us the frustrations and agonies of daily life, yet through it all she keeps a sense of wonder and delight. Her poems will make you both laugh and cry. Book excerpt: Written in the 1990s after retirement from his services as a doctor and discovered by his daughter in the loft of their house in Darjeeling in India in 2017, this memoir of Dr. Tsewang Yishey Pemba provides an intricate portrayal of early twentieth-century Tibet. With his finger on the pulse of the Tibetan ethos, Pemba offers glimpses into the traditional sociology of Tibet and occasionally its snail-paced reforms, as well as the British Raj in India, while recollecting his young days in his native country. Pemba also draws information from prized sources like his father´s diaries and his conversations with Tibetan and British officials as well as people at the grassroots. His own metamorphosis, as he leaves Tibet in 1949 for higher education abroad, foreshadows the metamorphosis of Tibet and its inescapable fate in the decade that followed.

Book Claude L vi Strauss

  • Author : Patrick Wilcken
  • Publisher : A&C Black
  • Release : 2011-11-21

Download or read book Claude L vi Strauss written by Patrick Wilcken and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2011-11-21 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Claude Lévi-Strauss, the 'father of modern anthropology' and author of the classic Tristes tropiques, was one of the most influential intellectuals of the second half of the twentieth century. Dislodging Sartre, Camus and de Beauvoir from the pinnacle of French intellectual life in the 1950s, he brought about a sea change in Western thought and inspired a generation of thinkers and writers, including Michel Foucault, Roland Barthes and Jacques Lacan with his structuralist theories. Lévi-Strauss's bohemian childhood and later studies of the emerging discipline of anthropology in the field and the university led him to mix with intellectuals, artists and poets from all over Europe. Tracing the evolution of his ideas through interviews with the man himself, research into his archives and conversations with contemporary anthropologists, Wilcken explores and explains Lévi-Strauss's theories, revealing an artiste manqué who infused his academic writing with an artistic and poetic sensibility.
