Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume, Marjorie O’Rourke Boyle probes significant concepts of the human spirit in Western religious culture across more than two millennia, from the book of Genesis to early modern science. The Human Spirit treats significant interpretations of human nature as religious in political, philosophical, and physical aspects by tracing its historical subject through the Priestly tradition of the Hebrew Bible and the writings of the apostle Paul among the Corinthians, the innovative theologians Augustine and Aquinas, the reformatory theologian Calvin, and the natural philosopher and physician William Harvey. Boyle analyzes the particular experiences and notions of these influential authors while she contextualizes them in community. She shows how they shared a conviction, although distinctly understood, of the human spirit as endowed by or designed by a divine source of everything animate. An original and erudite work that utilizes a rich and varied array of primary source material, this volume will be of interest to intellectual and cultural historians of religion, philosophy, literature, and medicine.

Book Human Spirits in Creation

Download or read book Human Spirits in Creation written by Uchenna Mezue and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2024-08-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This last volume in the series, 'Human Spirits in the Judgment, ' discusses the events of the prophesied end times, which, according to all revealed religions, we are to expect at this time. All the indices and even scientific and ordinary human perceptions point to this fact. We must, however, understand the concepts aright. What does the term end times mean, and what does the judgment mean? How does it apply to us as individual human spirits and humanity at large, and what is the ultimate fate of our earth? The discussion includes the help and support granted to humanity to which we may cling in these challenging times. The judgment of human spirits in Creation consists of a continuous dynamic judgment and a final or last judgment. The last judgment under the direct influence of the Son of Man, the Judge from God, is a process that goes through the separation of the spiritually viable from the spiritually dead, support and strengthening of the spiritually viable through a period of purification when Satan is bound and ends with reward and punishment in the Throne judgment. Individual human spirits must adjust to these stages of the judgment, which is only possible by accepting and adjusting to the Will of the Father, the Owner of Creation. The fact that we are already in the purification judgment is also emphasized. As mentioned in the preface to the first volume, the entire work is a condensation of my personal recognition and understanding of the Word granted to humanity in the Grail Message. This Message entitled 'In the Light of Truth' is an extension of the Truth brought by the Son of God, Jesus, at that time. I insist that all who study my publications must recognize the limitations imposed by my personal understanding and must consider the absolute Truth as enshrined only in the knowledge brought by the Envoys of God, Jesus, and Imanuel. As such, this work should be considered as only a signpost to the Grail Message which I urge all to read.

Is there a relationship between the spiritual experience a person has in the presence of a work of art and the Holy Spirit of Christian faith? Skilled theologian, musician, and educator Steven Guthrie examines areas of overlap between spirituality, human creativity, and the arts with the goal of sharpening and refining how we speak and think about the Holy Spirit. Download or read book Our Human Spirit written by Witness Lee and published by Living Stream Ministry. This book was released on 2017-03-01 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Bible reveals that man is a tripartite being possessing a spirit, and a soul, and a body (1 Thes. 5:23). It makes a clear distinction between these three parts (Luke 1:46-47; Heb. 4:12; Phil. 1:27). Having a body, man possesses world-consciousness and is able to contact the material world. Having a soul, man possesses self-consciousness, which gives him his personality, his self (Matt. 16:26; cf. Luke 9:25) and is able to reason, choose, and respond emotionally. Having a spirit, man possesses God-consciousness and is able to contact, receive, and worship the Triune God (John 4:24; Rom. 8:16; 2 Tim. 4:22). God is Spirit (John 4:24), and when He formed man (Gen. 2:7), He created him with a spirit (Zech. 12:1). If man did not have a spirit, he would be unable to contact God.It is in our spirit that we were born again (John 3:6); it is in our spirit that we were made alive (Eph. 2:5; Rom. 8:10); it is in our spirit that God dwells (Eph. 2:22; 2 Tim. 4:22; Rom. 8:16); it is in our spirit that we are joined to the Lord (1 Cor. 6:17); and it is in our spirit that we contact and worship God (John 4:24). Now we must walk and have our whole being according to our spirit--serving in our spirit (Rom. 1:9), praying in spirit (Eph. 6:18), being filled in spirit (Eph. 5:18), seeing God's revelation in spirit (Eph. 1:17; 3:5; Rev. 1:10; 4:2; 17:3; 21:10), having fellowship with the brothers and sisters in spirit (Phil. 2:1); and being built together with others into a dwelling place of God in spirit (Eph. 2:22)."
