Book Human Behavior Analysis Sensing and Understanding

Download or read book Human Behavior Analysis Sensing and Understanding written by Zhiwen Yu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-02-29 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last decade, there has been a growing interest in human behavior analysis, motivated by societal needs such as security, natural interfaces, affective computing, and assisted living. However, the accurate and non-invasive detection and recognition of human behavior remain major challenges and the focus of many research efforts. Traditionally, in order to identify human behavior, it is first necessary to continuously collect the readings of physical sensing devices (e.g., camera, GPS, and RFID), which can be worn on human bodies, attached to objects, or deployed in the environment. Afterwards, using recognition algorithms or classification models, the behavior types can be identified so as to facilitate advanced applications. Although such traditional approaches deliver satisfactory performance and are still widely used, most of them are intrusive and require specific sensing devices, raising issues such as privacy and deployment costs. In this book, we will present our latest findings on non-invasive sensing and understanding of human behavior. Specifically, this book differs from existing literature in the following senses. Firstly, we focus on approaches that are based on non-invasive sensing technologies, including both sensor-based and device-free variants. Secondly, while most existing studies examine individual behaviors, we will systematically elaborate on how to understand human behaviors of various granularities, including not only individual-level but also group-level and community-level behaviors. Lastly, we will discuss the most important scientific problems and open issues involved in human behavior analysis.

Book Science And Human Behavior

Download or read book Science And Human Behavior written by B.F Skinner and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2012-12-18 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The psychology classic—a detailed study of scientific theories of human nature and the possible ways in which human behavior can be predicted and controlled—from one of the most influential behaviorists of the twentieth century and the author of Walden Two. “This is an important book, exceptionally well written, and logically consistent with the basic premise of the unitary nature of science. Many students of society and culture would take violent issue with most of the things that Skinner has to say, but even those who disagree most will find this a stimulating book.” —Samuel M. Strong, The American Journal of Sociology “This is a remarkable book—remarkable in that it presents a strong, consistent, and all but exhaustive case for a natural science of human behavior…It ought to be…valuable for those whose preferences lie with, as well as those whose preferences stand against, a behavioristic approach to human activity.” —Harry Prosch, Ethics

Book How to Think Like a Behavior Analyst

Download or read book How to Think Like a Behavior Analyst written by Jon Bailey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-04-15 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to Think Like a Behavior Analyst is a revolutionary resource for understanding complex human behavior and making potentially significant quality of life improvements. Behavior analysts offer a worldview of the human condition different than almost any other professional perspective. To a behavior analyst, human behavior is largely learned and subject to change if the right variables are put into play. This is an empowering outlook, providing an opportunity for individuals to analyze the actions of those around them and an understanding of why others exhibit such behavior. Practical, clear, and direct, this book addresses basic questions such as how behavior analysis is different from psychotherapy, what analysis involves, and the meaning of evidence-based treatment. A chapter on Applications presents tips on using behavioral procedures to improve lives and deal with others, and articulates how behavioral procedures are used in community settings. In question and answer format, the text thoroughly covers 50 frequently asked questions about behavior analysis in an educational and entertaining manner. It was developed out of questions raised by students in behavior analysis classes over the last 35 years, as well as questions raised by consumers of behavior analysis services. This text is written for all professionals concerned with behavior, including undergraduate students in psychology and behavior analysis, parents, teachers, employers, and employees. The book can easily be used as a supplement to primary texts in introductory psychology courses, and the exercises that follow each question can be used to stimulate lively discussion in role-play and other active learning situations.

Book How to Rethink Human Behavior

Download or read book How to Rethink Human Behavior written by Bernard Guerin and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-20 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developed from the author’s long teaching career, How to Rethink Human Behavior aims to cultivate practical skills in human observation and analysis, rather than offer a catalogue of immutable ‘facts’. It synthesizes key psychological concepts with insights from other disciplines, including sociology, social anthropology, economics, and history. The skills detailed in the book will help readers to observe people in their contexts and to analyze what they observe, in order to make better sense of why people do what they do, say what they say, and think what they think. These methods can also be applied to our own thoughts, talk and actions - not as something we control from ‘within’ but as events constantly being shaped by the idiosyncratic social, cultural, economic and other contexts in which our lives are immersed. Whether teaching, studying, or reading for pleasure, this book will help readers learn: How to think about people with ecological or contextual thinking How your thinking is a conversation with other people How to analyze talk and conversations as social strategies How capitalist economies change how you act, talk and think in 25 ways How living in modern society can be linked to generalized anxiety and depression How to Rethink Human Behavior is important interdisciplinary reading for students and researchers in all fields of social science, and will especially appeal to those interested in mental health. It has also been written for the general reading public who enjoy exploring new ideas and skills in understanding themselves and other people.

Book Principles of Behavioural Analysis

Download or read book Principles of Behavioural Analysis written by Julian C. Leslie and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-10-28 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1996. The field of behavior analysis began with the research studies of B.F. Skinner in the 1930s. In 1950, Keller and Schoenfeld published Principles of Psychology. It was the first text to present the basic principles of behavior analysis in a systematic fashion. While continuing to cite and describe the seminal articles in the field, in this book Leslie also includes clear presentations of new findings. The systematic presentation of these findings enables the author to provide laboratory based accounts of increasingly complex forms of human behavior, instead of plausible extrapolations which were the only option available at an earlier time. The Principles of Behavior Analysis does not sacrifice sweep for detail, and also does not sacrifice adequate presentation of basic principles for oversimplification.

Book Human Behavior in Today s World

Download or read book Human Behavior in Today s World written by Waris Ishaq and published by Praeger. This book was released on 1991-05-30 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume a distinguished group of scholars examines the contributions that behavior analysis can make in meeting the crucial challenges that threaten the survival of individuals, families, societies, and nations, as well as the planet itself. Beginning with the premise that human behavior is the primary cause of our problems, the authors look at methods that allow us to change it and at how these methods may be applied in specific areas--ranging from international violence and environmental degradation to substance abuse and training of the handicapped. The first part, which includes a paper by B. F. Skinner and a condensation of Murray Sidman's Coercion and Its Fallout (1989), focuses on the critical problems created by human behavior in the modern world and stresses the need for behavior scientists to become more involved in meeting these global challenges. Part II, The Science of Behavior Change, offers clear explanations of behavioral theory and discusses recent experimental work. Part III describes applications of behavior analysis to education, daycare, and the training of the handicapped. Principles, methods, and applications of stimulus control are explained in Part IV. The remaining sections cover the negative effects of coercion, the use of behavior analysis to achieve cooperation in the workplace, the relation of culture to behavior, applications to the practice of psychology, and related topics. Effectively linking behavior analysis to a broad range of practical concerns, this book will be of interest to professionals in psychology and other social sciences as well as educators, decision makers in government and industry, and general readers.
