An ancient chronicle* gives him the credit of settling the Salic law by four lords, and says, they laboured in it for three malles or assizes: and that it is called Salic, from the Saliens, the noblest of the French people. Iff), it was so called, as is pretended, because the words Si aliqua are so often used in it.
