Book HSPA Performance and Evolution

Download or read book HSPA Performance and Evolution written by Pablo Tapia and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-03-03 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written from an operator’s viewpoint, HSPA Performance and Evolution explores the lessons learned and techniques developed for optimally deploying HSPA (High Speed Packet Access). The essential distinctions between rolling out HSPA compared to earlier UMTS and GSM technologies are explained covering the many issues that must be specifically handled. Areas in standards which have been left open for interpretation, causing significant differences between vendor implementations, are identified and solutions explored. This book is invaluable in enabling wireless operators to extract maximum performance offered by 3GPP’s HSPA radio technology, consisting of both downlink (HSDPA) and uplink (HSUPA) elements. It focuses on real-world performance, sharing practical implementation methods and tradeoffs for deploying, optimizing and maintaining networks using the HSPA air interface. Examines algorithms, equipment and performance perspectives to identify and explain HSPA Measures performance and sets network parameters for optimal tradeoffs Presents results from practical and real-world network performances Explores the evolution of HSPA technology into HSPA+ and eventually next generation LTE technologies

Book Assessing Health System Performance Proof of Concept for a HSPA Dashboard of Key Indicators

Download or read book Assessing Health System Performance Proof of Concept for a HSPA Dashboard of Key Indicators written by OECD and published by OECD Publishing. This book was released on 2023-12-12 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report, jointly developed by the European Observatory, OECD, and WHO Europe, serves as a proof of concept for a Health Systems Performance Assessment (HSPA) dashboard. HSPA is pivotal for health system transformation, providing policymakers with key indicators to identify and address system performance issues. This brief represents a step towards more policy-friendly dashboards, emphasizing the need for a focused set of HSPA indicators aligned with policy goals. The brief highlights the alignment and complementarity of the WHO-Observatory global HSPA framework and OECD's renewed framework, which aid policymakers in navigating health systems with actionable, policy-relevant indicators. These frameworks establish connections between performance indicators, health system functions, and overarching goals, supporting a coherent policy dashboard. Tracer indicators, like workforce, digital health, and service delivery outcomes, are emphasized as crucial for assessing key policy areas. The report underscores the importance of investing in data collection and infrastructure at national and international levels to make HSPA effective. It advocates for continuous improvement and collaboration among major international organizations, including WHO, OECD, EU, and the Observatory, to align methodologies and support informed policy decision-making.

Book 3G HSPA and FDD versus TDD Networking

Download or read book 3G HSPA and FDD versus TDD Networking written by Lajos Hanzo and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-30 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 3G, HSPA and FDD versus TDD Networking, Second Edition is the only book that contrasts the network capacity gains that may be achieved with the advent of adaptive antenna arrays and HSDPA-style adaptive modulation techniques in the context of FDD and TDD CDMA cellular networks. In the five years since the first edition of this book was published the wireless landscape has evolved further. The new book addresses the recent developments in the field of HSDPA-style wireless networking, focusing particularly on the issues and challenges of FDD versus TDD networking. These solutions are particularly powerful in shadow-faded scenarios, when the antenna array elements experience correlated, rather than independent fading. Furthermore, the flexible up-link/down-link time-slot allocation of TDD is beneficial for supporting the Wireless Internet, but results in erratic interference fluctuations, which is efficiently combated by the antenna arrays and adaptive modulation. Additionally, whilst the adaptive modulation aided system simply drops the instantaneous transmission rate during instances of high interference, conventional networks would drop the call. Builds on successful previous edition to include recent developments in the field of HSDPA-style wireless networking Provides an all-encompassing self-contained overview of the subject for a wide range of readers of all levels. Treats the topics of both physical-layer and network-layer aspects of wireless systems using a cross-layer optimization approach. One of the first books to contrast in detail both FDD and TDD networking. The material is presented clearly and logically allowing the uninitiated reader to commence reading it at fundamental non-mathematical conceptual level at the beginning of the book, while advanced readers can turn directly to the required chapter describing solutions to a number of wireless FDD or TDD networking problems. This book will inspire researchers, practicing engineers, operators, marketing engineers and advanced postgraduates.

Book Health System Performance Assessment in the WHO European Region

Download or read book Health System Performance Assessment in the WHO European Region written by Centers of Disease Control and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2018-04-24 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Health systems performance assessment (HSPA) varies across the WHO European Region. This review summarizes HSPA domains and indicators used by Member States in their HSPA or health system-related reports. Thirty Member States published in the English language and from their latest documents, 1485 distinct indicators were extracted. The number of indicators reported per Member State ranged from 9 to 146, with a mean of 50. Among the 14 domains of the WHO 2007 framework, service delivery and improved health were covered by virtually all Member States analysed (30 and 29, respectively), but coverage varied for the other 12 domains, with health workforce and financing having good coverage (25 and 26, respectively) but others, such as safety, efficiency, coverage or responsiveness, covered in only 20-30% of documents. Further refinement of frameworks, both in clarity on scope and function and in the conceptual robustness of domains, is warranted and further standardization of generic sets of indicators should be sought.
