Book HRT HOODTM A Structured Design Method for Hard Real Time Ada Systems

Download or read book HRT HOODTM A Structured Design Method for Hard Real Time Ada Systems written by A. Burns and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995-04-07 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increasing use of computers for real-time control on board spacecrafts has brought with it a greater emphasis on the development methodology used for such systems. By their nature, spacecraft control computers have to operate unattended for long periods and because of the programmatics of space, systems are subject to a long development cycle. As a result, there are two distinct concerns, the first being that the development approach guarantees functional and timing correctness, the second being that problems, particularly those associated with timing, are considered as early as possible in the spacecraft development life cycle. The European Space Agency has, for a number of years, encouraged the development of software using HOOD. It was thus a natural next step to investigate the incorporation of time within the existing HOOD framework. This has proven to be very beneficial and this book describes the approach developed by the authors for handling Hard Real-Time applications. It describes both the background scheduling theory, provides practical examples of its application to real life problems, and demonstrates how it is used in the various phases of the development of Hard Real-Time systems.

Book Distributed Computer Control Systems 1997

Download or read book Distributed Computer Control Systems 1997 written by I.M. MacLeod and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 1998-01-15 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is increasingly accepted that future dependable, real-time digital computer control systems will have distributed architectures. Advantages of distributed computer control systems include the possibility of composing large systems out of pre-tested components with minimal integration effort, their well-defined fault containment properties and their capacity to make effective use of mass-produced silicon chips. The IFAC Workshop series on Distributed Computer Control Systems (DCCS) focuses on design requirements and fundamental principles encountered in such systems and highlights and traces the growth of key concepts at their various stages of development. Theoretical and application-oriented viewpoints receive equal emphasis. These Workshops also provide an excellent forum for the exchange of information on recent technological advances and practices in the distributed computer control field. The 1997 DCCS Workshop was notable for the attention given to practical implementations of ideas that have been under discussion for decades and maintained the high technical standard set by previous Workshops in the series - the policy of concentrating on a specific topic, inviting a number of key authors and of accepting only a limited number of papers paid dividends.

Book Operating System Principles

Download or read book Operating System Principles written by Per Brinch Hansen and published by Prentice Hall. This book was released on 1973 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main theme of the book is that operating systems are not radically different from other programs. The difficulties encountered in the design of efficient, reliable operating systems are the same as those one encounters in the design of other large programs, such as compilers or payroll programs. This book tries to give students of computer science and professional programmers a general understanding of operating systems - the programs that enable people to share computers efficiently.

Book Real Time Object Oriented Modeling

Download or read book Real Time Object Oriented Modeling written by Bran Selic and published by Mbse4u - Tim Weilkiens. This book was released on 2023-11-04 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you looking for a more effective approach to real-time systems development? The development of real-time distributed systems is one of the most difficult engineering problems ever faced, taxing the capabilities of traditional real-time software development approaches. Real-Time Object-Oriented Modeling is the first book that brings together, in a single harmonious approach, the power of object-oriented concepts tailored specifically for real-time systems, with an iterative and incremental process based on the use of executable models. Developed by practitioners, the proven methodology described here is becoming a leader in the industry. Using a learn-by-example approach, this book offers: A single consistent set of graphical modeling concepts, chosen to improve developer effectiveness, which applies uniformly to analysis, design, and implementation. This reduces the learning curve to master the entire method and eliminates expensive discontinuities across different stages of development. An approach to the object paradigm that is easy to learn and that applies to the construction of reusable architectural design components, not just low-level language elements. This unleashes the true power of the object paradigm. Techniques for constructing executable models to gain early confidence in specifications and design decisions. Approaches to project management that deliver the benefits of the object paradigm and executable models.

Book Strategies for Real Time System Specification

Download or read book Strategies for Real Time System Specification written by Derek Hatley and published by Addison-Wesley. This book was released on 2013-07-19 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the digital version of the printed book (Copyright © 1987). Here is a casebook, a practical reference, and an indispensable guide for creating a systematic, formal methodology for large, real-time, software-based systems. The book introduces the widely implemented Hatley/Pirbhai methods, a major extension of the DeMarco analysis method describing how external events control the system's operating behavior. The techniques are used in major avionics and electronics companies worldwide, and are automated by most major CASE tools, including TurboCASE/Sys by StructSoft, Inc. Large software-based systems, especially those for real-time applications, require multi-mode operation, direct interaction with a rapidly changing physical environment, and fast response times. In the past, the development of such systems was prone to massive cost and schedule overruns, and to inadequate performance and reliability. Strategies for Real-Time System Specification addresses these problems by integrating a finite-state machine structure into classical analysis methods. The book contains nearly 200 diagrams, many of which illustrate the requirements specification of a flight management system for a major avionics developer.
