Download or read book Turning Your Scars into Stars written by Edith Dolores Roman and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-09-06 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Turning Your Scars into Stars is about emotional scars on the heart, spirit, and soul. These types of scars are the most difficult and painful to heal. They consist of abandonment, chronic hurt, pain, rejection, and death. Two verses that comfort me tremendously are Deuteronomy 31:8, which says, The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged (NIV), and also 1 Corinthians 10:13, which says, God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it (NIV). My name is Edith Dolores Roman, and I must be honest and tell you that sometimes when life hit me full force, I felt that the challenges I faced were beyond my ability to overcome! Starting with my childhood, I was orphaned at age eleven, became a foster child, and eventually struggled to raise my two children as a single mother. However, with prayer, persistence, and the strength of God, I was able to overcome, and you are able to also! One more verse that helps me to continue to persevere through my problems is found in 2 Corinthians 12:9, when God reminds his servants, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness (NIV). This book is intended to help people in struggles go from the pit to the peak! My prayer is that this book will help you heal and that it will nurture your soul, just like Proverbs 16:24 says, Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones (NIV).

Download or read book Beauty for Ashes written by Laura John and published by Strategic Book Publishing. This book was released on 2013-07 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dear Reader, Why do ordinary, intelligent, and loving women end up having abortions or putting their own child in foster care? The author did both. This is her story as told through a series of letters from the heart to all her children. Laura John's first book takes readers through a very personal account, from being a child with no roots, who has a teenage abortion and a mental breakdown in her forties, to the woman she now is. An unshakable faith and preservation of family have become the driving forces in her life, and she describes through a series of heartfelt letters to her eight children how one very dysfunctional family is torn apart and reconciled to survive rape, alcoholism, divorce, miscarriages, drug abuse, and autism. The "blended" family that emerges through these pages will encourage anyone who has experienced a breakdown in relationships. This is not a self-help book or a book brimming with advice for parents; rather it is a chronicle of being a mother in often difficult circumstances, and about making impossible choices and living with the consequences. It has been said that the only thing stronger than fear is hope, and it is hope that emerges triumphantly in this book that is essentially about being a mother. Laura John was born and brought up as a white child in Central Africa (Congo) to English missionary parents. She now lives in Sydney, Australia with her youngest children (one of whom is autistic) and her husband, who describes himself as the "madman" from Galashiels.
