Many Christians have a limited understanding of basic Bible doctrine, and this lack of knowledge breeds frustration and robs them of many blessings that belong to them as believers. Often they find themselves stumbling in the same areas over and over, missing out on the vibrant Christian life they know they should be experiencing. In this book, Rick Renner puts these frustrations to rest as he guides the reader through the six basic doctrines every believer should know so that he can build his life in Christ on a solid foundation of Scripture and sound doctrine. Rick teaches: Repentance what it is, what it isnt, and how to do it. What is saving faith? Three baptisms in the New Testament. What is the laying on of hands? The doctrines of resurrection and eternal judgment. A transplant that will save your life. The missing link in many churches today and how it is affecting the whole Body of Christ. What you will learn in these pages will help lay a foundation underneath your life or fortify the foundation that has already been laid so that you can live the life of fulfillment and contentment in Christ that God intends for you.

This book was released on 2019-10-15 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book to describe in detail the principles of Outward Bound, told through the stories of former instructors and graduates who show how to apply them to create healthier, more effective teams, organizations, and communities. For nearly six decades Outward Bound USA's education programs have shaped the lives of tens of thousands of participants. Strangers are put in an unfamiliar and unpredictable setting, where to succeed they must develop a sense of teamwork, resilience, self-confidence, and a focus on the greater good. But, Mark Brown asks, isn't the modern world just as unpredictable and challenging as any mountain or desert? He shows how the same principles that bind people together in the natural world work just as well in cities, companies, and communities. This book explores the concept of Expeditionary Leadership through the stories of people such as third-generation business steward Laura Kohler, the Home Depot cofounder Arthur Blank, and former United States Senator Mark Udall, whose lives were touched by Outward Bound and who then went on to make a positive difference in the world. They show how each of us can, in our own way, use the Outward Bound philosophy to bravely face the wild unknowns in our daily lives. From training the first Peace Corps volunteers to partnering with thousands of educational institutions and corporations, Outward Bound has helped build the self-confidence and character of participants who have gone on to live richer, more fulfilling, and successful lives. Outward Bound internationally operates in thirty-three countries and impacts nearly a quarter of a million people annually.

Book Leading the 21st Century Academic Library

Download or read book Leading the 21st Century Academic Library written by Bradford Lee Eden and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2015-03-02 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Libraries of all types have undergone significant developments in the last few decades. The rate of change in the academic library, a presence for decades now, has been increasing in the first decade of this century. It is no exaggeration to claim that it is undergoing a top to bottom redefinition. Cataloging and reference remain central to its new role, and the circulation of books is still high though declining. Among the changes is the architecture of the library: when new libraries replace old or where renovation is occurring; the role of technology at every stage and in every library application; the management of serials – selection, shelving and budgeting; and in a gradual but irrevocable move to digital forms, altered allocation of resources including larger portions of the budget diverted to preservation, not only of aging books, a theme in the latter part of the last century, but of digital files – cultural, historical, personal. In brief, the academic library is dramatically different today than it was only ten years ago. And with it, the profession of the academic librarian is also undergoing significant changes. Managing digital resources in all its forms, from telecommunications to storage and access devices, is central to its new roles. Creating, curating and preserving digital information is also key to the new librarianship. And what about services to its clients? Here also we see dramatic change, particularly but not exclusively with guiding library users in the effective use of networked knowledge. Information literacy is a key term and skill in using the new tools of digital literacy: reading and writing, searching and extracting; and the new technologies that drive social networking – the Iphone, Ipad, and Ipod and its many imitators. We can’t expect the redefined academic library to assume its final shape any time soon, if ever, but the transformation is well underway. This series: Creating the 21st-Century Academic Library, will explore this topic from a number of different perspectives. Volume 1, Visionary Leadership and Futures, will begin the discussion by examining some of the new roles and directions academic libraries are taking.

Book Leading in DisOrienting Times

Download or read book Leading in DisOrienting Times written by Gary V Nelson and published by Christian Board of Publication. This book was released on 2015-05-05 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jack Mezirow, a leader in education theory, suggests that all transformative learning begins with a 'disorienting dilemma': an idea or experience that challenges or shifts fundamental values and assumptions. Gary Nelson and Peter Dickens, pastors and teachers with vast experience working with congregations and organizations, believe it is time for Christian leaders to be 'disoriented,' for the fundamental values and assumptions of Christian leadership to be reframed and broken down so they can see the leadership task in new ways. Blending current literature from both Christian and secular scholarship with individual and organizational examples, Leading in DisOrienting Times provides support for the concept of servant leadership that may be initially disorienting, but is ultimately liberating.
