Download or read book How to Squat 900 Lbs written by Bud Jeffries and published by . This book was released on 2012-05-19 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Do You Want To Get Big And Strong? Then You Gotta Squat! But Do You Really Know How?" Let's face it, squats are the key to leg strength and the key to overall body strength. Basically every strength champion does squats and this book will give you the edge in cranking up your squat poundage. Squats are Maybe the Most Misunderstood of All Weight Training Exercises. Why? Because almost no one really knows how to do them and there are more old wives tales hanging around about this exercise than there are bad fishing stories. Those are couple of the reasons why I wrote this manual. I want you to be able to know for sure that you're doing it right when you squat. I want to put it out to you in simple, clear language so that even the beginner or the most advanced athletes can learn from this book. I want to smash a couple of those old wives tales so that when you read and understand this book you won't be afraid to do the squat. You won't bother to listen to any of those sissies who tell you it's bad for your knees and your back and you'll have the reigns of your own strength training destiny in hand. The practical knowledge of this exercise (The Squat) is maybe the biggest key difference between the successful strength champion and the girly spandex wearer who couldn't lift his way out of a wet paper bag. If you're serious about strength and development then you must have this book, but if you're not, don't bother to buy it. Why? Because I'm not going to sugar coat it for you. I'm going to tell you the truth. The simple, plain, back-breaking, steel-bending, blood-curdling truth. I want you to know that building your knowledge and your mind is what starts to build your body. I want you to be fired up to do this exercise justice. I'm not going to tell you that you can sit around and drink some magic blender potion and not get out and bust your butt and get big. Because let's face it, anybody who tells you that is lying. I'm going to give you the tools to build freakish size and strength and we're going to do it the old way. The way it was before political correctness clouded the field of strength training. Before badly built machines and hand-holding personal trainers got in the way. How do I know? Because that's how I grew up in the strength training world. I've spent the time and effort to test and study and learn what really works. Here are some of the things that you'll learn in this book: *How I pushed my squat up from 225 to 900 - The Whole Story *Some of my personal history and some of the crazy things that have happened in my life and why it's a miracle for me to be walking much less squatting 900 pounds. *Why you can't seperate the physical completely from the mental and spiritual. *My first three major routines and the progress I made on them. *Real squat technique - in detail with pictures and descriptions. *The differences and applications of squat styles. *Bar placement, foot placement, hand placement. *Aligning your joints and how to drop into a squat to correctly activate the muscles and to stabilize the knees. *Tricks to mark your depth, keep position and keep your head up and drive the bar up correctly. *Discussion about what to and not to wear when you squat. Everything from shoes, to clothes, belts and wraps, etc. *Serious discussion of volume, frequency, intensity and sets and reps. *How to use the squat to gain strength, size, speed or endurance. *How to recognize and correct common form errors and weaknesses. *How to build a mental and physical routine to set your mental and physical nerve patterns.*Why I train the way I do. *Over 40 different variations of the squat and it's assistance exercises *About progression and it's different styles. *How to use real world productive assistance exercises, not the usual junk. *How to use consistency with variation.Find more at www.Strongerman.com

Book Hard Faith

Download or read book Hard Faith written by Ray Lopez and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-12-23 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of Hard Knocks: Memoir of a Small Moment and Hard Love: A California Memoir, Hard Faith is Lopez’s third memoir and picks up where Hard Love leaves his readers. Hard Faith describes Lopez’s struggles and growing maturity as a Christian, husband, father, and probation officer. It tells of the difficulties in the church and trying to hear God’s voice in declaring the plans he has for us. Lopez leaves the Baptist church after fifteen years and starts serving in an independent, nondenominational church that is pursuing the gifts of the Holy Spirit, especially prophecy. It covers the Lopezes’ lives as double-income, professional parents and the challenging experiences while raising their children. Hard Faith explores the impact of 9/11. It takes the reader on some incredible journeys, like when Lopez and his wife, Paula, traveled to Peru to be with their daughter who was in a coma after being hit by a tourist bus. They experienced many miracles in Peru, most significantly, their daughter’s survival and healing. Hard Faith covers his mother’s stroke and the deaths of both of his parents, focusing on how God uses all things for our good (Rom 8:28) and brings us closer together. The book travels through Lopez’s retirement as a federal law enforcement officer and his struggles with depression, and ends with the death of his sister-in-law from ALS at the age of fifty-four.

Book Weightlifting Training and Biomechanics

Download or read book Weightlifting Training and Biomechanics written by Andrew Charniga and published by Sportivnypress.com. This book was released on 2019-12-04 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Weightlifting Training and Biomechanics covers a gamut of training and technique from the perspective of Soviet era sport science to modern radical, departures in theory of biomechanics: “Can There Be Such A Thing As An Asian Pull”; “Equilibrium in Weightlifting”; “The Foot, the Ankle Joint and Asian Pull”. “Asian pull’ technique is in all probability an effort to circumvent gravity by finding the path of least resistance for the body’s movements, which means these movements need not be designed to raise body center of mass as high as possible (as in the Russian pull) before squatting under the barbell. “The Asian pull technique is antithetical to Russian protocols which stipulate the lifter remain flat - footed as trunk and thighs straighten in unison during the explosion phase (see figure 3). Much of the explosion phase of the Asian pull is carried out with shoulder joints behind the vertical line of the bar with heels raised as legs straighten.” “Peculiarities of balance, equilibrium and stability are not unique to weightlifting. In point of fact they can even be considered 'normal aberrations' in athletics; given the extraordinary complexity of the human body's movement possibilities. Furthermore, the high incidence of injuries in American sport can be traced to a catastrophic outcome of strength and conditioning training, therapeutics and the like; where an athlete's movements are choreographed to conform to rigid, arbitrarily conceived limitations; especially linear (Charniga, 2015 - 2017). Five articles have appeared in the EWF Science journal with another two awaiting publication.

Book Historical Dictionary of the Olympic Movement

Download or read book Historical Dictionary of the Olympic Movement written by John Grasso and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2015-05-14 with total page 907 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Olympic Movement began with the Ancient Olympic Games, which were held in Greece on the Peloponnesus peninsula at Olympia, Greece. It is not clear why the Greeks instituted this quadrennial celebration in the form of an athletic festival. The recorded history of the Ancient Olympic Games begins in 776 B.C., although it is suspected that the Games had been held for several centuries by that time. The Games were conducted as religious celebrations in honor of the god Zeus, and it is known that Olympia was a shrine to Zeus from about 1000 B.C. In modern time The Olympic Movement attempts to bring all the nations of the world together in a series of multisport festivals, the Olympic Games, seeking to use sport as a means to promote internationalism and peace. This fifth edition of Historical Dictionary of The Olympic Movement covers its history through a chronology, an introductory essay, appendixes, and an extensive bibliography. The dictionary section has over 1000 cross-referenced entries on the history, philosophy, and politics of the Olympics, major organizations, the various sports, the participating countries, and especially the athletes. This book is an excellent access point for students, researchers, and anyone wanting to know more about The Olympic Movement.
