Book Phonics for Pupils with Special Educational Needs Book 1 Building Basics

This book was released on 2018-10-12 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phonics for Pupils with Special Educational Needs is a complete, structured, multisensory programme for teaching reading and spelling, making it fun and accessible for all. This fantastic seven-part resource offers a refreshingly simple approach to the teaching of phonics, alongside activities to develop auditory and visual perceptual skills. Specifically designed to meet the needs of pupils of any age with special educational needs, the books break down phonics into manageable core elements and provide a huge wealth of resources to support teachers in teaching reading and spelling. Book 1: Building Basics introduces basic sounds and explores their relationship with letters. It focuses on sounds and letters where there is a simple 1:1 correspondence between the two, and explores the sounds in simple words that follow the pattern of vowel-consonant or consonant-vowel-consonant. Sounds are grouped into seven sets, with each set containing more than 50 engaging activities, including: sound story, dynamic blending, reading race, spot the word and spelling challenge. Thorough guidance is provided on how to deliver each activity, as well as a lesson planner template, handy word lists and posters for teachers and teaching assistants to use to support learning. Each book in the series gradually builds on children’s understanding of sounds and letters and provides scaffolded support for children to learn about every sound in the English language. Offering tried and tested material which can be photocopied for each use, this is an invaluable resource to simplify phonics teaching for teachers and teaching assistants and provide fun new ways of learning phonics for all children. This book is accompanied by a companion resource, 'Phonics for Pupils with Complex SEND ', to be used alongside the Phonics for Pupils with Special Educational Needs programme. The activities from Books 1-6 of the programme are adapted to be accessible for non-verbal pupils, including AAC users, and those with physical disabilities.

Book Homophone Workbook

  • Author : Beth Seiler
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2018-04-12

Download or read book Homophone Workbook written by Beth Seiler and published by . This book was released on 2018-04-12 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kids still need to know homophones, since spelling checkers don't differentiate between words like "deer" and "dear". This book will help children learn the spelling and meaning of various homophones, while at the same time, improving their reading and thinking skills. Each of the five sections of the book, takes thirteen to twenty-one homophone pairs or triplets, with seven activity sheets per section. The first activity in each section asks children to look up each homophone on the list, and write the word and its' definition. The second activity is a matching activity, in which homophones are matched from two columns, and written together on the lines. Having to write the words together will help children learn these homophone relationships. The third activity is a pairing activity, where the children are to read a group of two or three sentences, and underline the common homophones. This activity will help them recognize the homophones, from context, and improve reading skills. The fourth activity is a series of riddle and context clues that requires them to learn the correct spelling for the intended word. This will improve spelling and analytical skills. The fifth activity is a choosing activity. The children have the opportunity to choose the correct homophone, from the words in parentheses, and write it in the blank space provided in each sentence. The sixth activity is crossword puzzles. Again, analytical skills will be practiced, and since it is necessary to fit the answers into a certain amount of spaces, spelling skills should be improved. The seventh activity is a story or letter, in which the most logical homophone will be written into each blank. This is probably the most difficult activity, but children should be familiar enough with the homophone groups to complete these pages. I've programmed each section, from the easiest to hardest activities, which should help promote gradual learning, building block style. If children learn these homophones well, they will provide an important part of the foundation for their written communication skills.

This book was released on 2019-02-20 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NOTE TO PARENTS/TUTORS/TEACHERS - PLEASE READ BEFORE USING WORKBOOK: Homophones are words that sound the same, but have different spellings and meanings - to, two, too or by, bye, buy. Homophones can be great fun once you know them, but they can be confusing for children (and even adults), especially those who struggle with memorization. The picture cues used in the Picture Homophone(TM) cards have been tested and proven effective, as they allow the child to use their right-brain strength to recall a picture in place of a letter. This is why Picture Homophones(TM) make all the difference! This workbook contains exercises to reinforce the homophones from Picture Homophones(TM) - Set 1 / Book1. Ideally, the child should have already seen the Picture Homophones(TM) cards at least three times and should be familiar with the pictures before using this workbook. This workbook does NOT contain picture cues in the words since it is the next level up. So use it to help your child recognize and read these homophones after they are done with the picture cards. The workbook can be used independently for extra practice, but the pictures are what help the child retain, recall and distinguish between homophone pairs, so using the cards makes it a more enjoyable and successful experience for your child. Keep the cards handy in case your child needs to refer to them.As always, repetition is the key to success. If you purchased the digital version of this workbook from our online store, you can print it out and place the pages in sheet protectors so your child can reuse them with a dry erase marker as many times as needed. And finally, please respect the copyright. The workbook is yours to re-print if you have paid for it. It is a copyright infringement to email this workbook to others. We hope you enjoy this Homophones Workbook. The Picture Homophone(TM) cards and this workbook are fun and effective tools to teach homophones to everyone. They are being used in classrooms across the U.S., and are also used by children with learning differences like dyslexia, English LanguageLearners (ELL/ESL), homeschoolers and adults who are confused by homophones.
