Book How to Read the Bible for Understanding and Power Part Four

Download or read book How to Read the Bible for Understanding and Power Part Four written by Steve Jaynes and published by . This book was released on 2017-11-28 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Because Adam caused death to be passed on to everybody, everybody now has death. Remember when Adam disobeyed God? God said, "In the day thou eat of it thou shall surely die." That death has been passed on to mankind from Adam to all. Adam made it so all have condemnation, which is a terrible thing. Death was the penalty for Adam's transgression and it passed on to all people. The people still had bodies, they had breath life, they had living souls, but they had no spirit life. God made a plan to reinstate spirit to mankind and that's what we will learn in this week's curriculum. We're going to look at the "Mission of Jesus Christ." In this session and chapter we look at what the Scriptures say about what Jesus Christ was called to do from the Old Testament and the Gospels. After Adam had lost holy spirit for all of mankind, God had a plan to reinstate spirit and reconcile us back to God. Jesus said, "Because I go unto my father, if you believe on me, you are going to be able to do these works that I did." That's not all, He goes on to say, "And greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my father." Jesus went to the father. I am going to show you some of what he taught after the last supper as he slowly walked with his disciples to the garden of Gethsemane. Because Jesus went to the Father He is at the right hand of God making intercession for us. There is nobody so low down that his arms aren't underneath them. There is nobody so high up that his arms are not above him or anyone so far out to the left or to the right that his arms are not there to care for them. Jesus Christ is making intercession for them.We are righteous because of what Jesus Christ accomplished for us. We have to believe that Jesus Christ did it for us. We have to believe in his accomplished works. When we believe in Jesus Christ's accomplishments, we are made righteous, not because we accomplished anything. We are just made righteous.Feel free to text, call or email me anytime. I'm glad to be of help if and whenever I can.Steve Jaynes207-595-1577

Book Bible Reading Learn to read and interpret the Bible

Download or read book Bible Reading Learn to read and interpret the Bible written by J.C. Ryle and published by Bible Study Books. This book was released on 2017-03-08 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Search the Scriptures." John 5:39 "How do you read it?" Luke 10:26 Next to praying, there is nothing so important in practical religion as Bible reading. God has mercifully given us a book which is "able to make us wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." (2 Tim. 3:15.) Learn to read and interpret the Bible. By reading that book, we may learn . . . what to believe, what to be, what to do; how to live with comfort, and how to die in peace. Happy is that man who possesses a Bible! Happier still is he who reads it! Happiest of all is he who not only reads it but obeys it, and makes it the rule of his faith and practice! Nevertheless, it is a sorrowful fact that man has an unhappy skill in abusing God's gifts. His privileges, and power, and faculties, are all ingeniously perverted to other ends than those for which they were bestowed. His speech, his imagination, his intellect, his strength, his time, his influence, his money instead of being used as instruments for glorifying his Maker are generally wasted, or employed for his own selfish ends. And just as man naturally makes a bad use of his other mercies, so he does of the written Word. One sweeping charge may be brought against the whole of Christendom, and that charge is neglect and abuse of the Bible. To prove this charge we have no need to look abroad: the proof lies at our own doors. I have no doubt that there are more Bibles in Great Britain at this moment than there ever were since the world began. There is more Bible buying and Bible selling, more Bible printing and Bible distributing than ever was since England was a nation. We see Bibles in every bookseller's shop, Bibles of every size, price, and style; Bibles great, and Bibles small Bibles for the rich, and Bibles for the poor. This neglected Book is the subject about which I address the readers of this paper today. Surely it is no light matter what you are doing with the Bible.

Download or read book Understanding Scripture written by Michelsen and published by Hendrickson Publishers. This book was released on 2002-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Without question, studying the Bible can be one of the most rewarding experiences of the Christian life. Unfortunately, if you are ill-equipped, studying the Bible can also be intensely frustrating. For example, how do we know when the Bible is being literal and when it's being figurative-and how can we tell the difference without a degree in theology? What do history and culture have to do with studying the Bible? Are there principles for interpreting parables, allegories, prophecies? Is Revelation different? Because questions like these are inescapable, "Understinding Scripture: How to read and Study the Bible" is a must for the individual interested in maximizing his or her time in Bible study. This book arose out of Alvera and Berkeley Mickelsen's life-long passion for helping people understand the Bible and its significance for their lives. Now in a thorough revision of the 1978 edition co-authored with her husband, Alvera Mickelsen once again shows how principles of interpreting God's word can make Scripture come alive in an unprecedented way.
