Book excerpt: Excerpt from How to Prepare Your Child for First Holy Communion Please don't leave it to the Sisters. They can never do it as well as you, and certainly, not without you. They can help you, but only if you do your part first. Your child is your flesh and blood, not theirs. During his first fifteen years he spends ten times as many hours at home as in church and school combined. You, his par ents, are the greatest single forming influence in his life. You are his first, his best, his most influential teachers. You are his hero and heroine in spite of all you may hear of what Sister said. Your relationship with your child is the most important relationship in his life. The influence of your mind upon his mind, of your personality upon his personality, of your character upon his character, is greater than that of all the Sisters who will ever share in molding his spirit. You are the divinely-appointed living means of communi cation between God and your child. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Little Talks to Children Preparing for Holy Communion We do not see God, because as the Cate chism tells you, He is a spirit, the most pure spirit, and, therefore, we cannot see Him with the eyes of our body. If you go into a room which is entirely dark, you do not see any thing in it. It may be full of things, such as tables, chairs and other furniture, pictures on the walls, and although. You have eyes, you cannot see them or anything else in it. Why? Because there is no light in that dark room. Turn on the light, and you can see everything in it. We cannot now see God, because we need some other light besides our reason and the light we have on earth to see God. We shall be able to see God in heaven, after our death, if we are good and pure dur ing life, for the pure of heart shall see God. Book Preparing Your Child for Holy Communion

Download or read book Preparing Your Child for Holy Communion written by Betti Meenattoor and published by . This book was released on 2021-08-16 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Holy Communion day is the most important and memorable day in the life of a Catholic child. Eucharist is the ineffable gift, and Holy Communion is the fusion between us and Jesus. Children start longing to receive Holy Communion at an early age but have to wait till they reach the age of discernment. In preparation, they attend a yearlong classes and training, either through the Catholic School or the Sunday School Faith Formation classes. At the end of this lengthy preparation, we still ask the same question: Are we really ready? Family is the domestic church, and parents are the primary catechism teachers. Knowledge is power and education is empowerment. Being involved actively in faith formation, in Holy Communion preparation, being a teacher and director of religious education for the past several years, answering the parents and reassuring them again and again, I thought of putting it together, hence this book, Preparing Your Child for Holy Communion: A Guide for Parents.

Book First Communion Classic Reprint

Download or read book First Communion Classic Reprint written by Mary Loyola and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-13 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from First Communion This book of Preparation for First Communion, which it is my privilege to introduce to the reader, was originally undertaken at the suggestion of the late Father John Morris, S.J., who as long as he lived took the warmest interest in its progress. Unhappily only a few chapters had been completed at the time of his lamented death, and in the sense of that great loss the work for a while was laid aside. It would have been a matter for much regret if the author had made this decision a final one. The book now completed has suffered, we cannot doubt, from the lack of Father Morris's always helpful criticisms, but the originality of its conception and the knowledge of child nature displayed in it can hardly fail to justify its publication. In the address "To the Children" which will be found further on, it is stated that the book is intended to aid the little ones to prepare themselves for First Communion. Perhaps it may be well to add a word of explanation here to anticipate possible misconceptions. It is not in any way the idea of the author that a child should be presented with a copy of this work and then cut adrift without further help, in the expectation that when the proper time comes the needful process of preparation will have worked itself out automatically. Book excerpt: Around the year 1890, a rather extraordinary nun began writing a very extraordinary book: one that would help children prepare for the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist. It would revolutionize children's catechesis by making the teachings of the Catholic Church both accessible and appealing, and in just over 10 years, its popularity would make her one of the best-known and best-loved Catholic authors of her time, with over two dozen works for both children and adults to her name. Mother Mary Loyola's work has been reintroduced to a new generation through her book The King of the Golden City, and now modern readers can access the brilliant and engaging works upon which she drew to write that book, especially the one that started it all: First Communion. This brand new, newly typeset version is dedicated to Mother Loyola in gratitude for her tireless efforts and the fruit they have borne in the lives of countless Catholics the world over. In a contemporary review of this book, "The Rosary Magazine" said, This book is intended to prepare children for First Communion by giving them an insight into our Lord s life and mission on earth. Its aim is to fill the heart of the child with a true and earnest love for our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, a strong love which the struggles of later life will not weaken, a love which cannot be inspired by the dry, dogmatic facts of the catechism...Although written for children, it is not childish, and persons of any age will find it interesting and profitable reading, and especially suited as a preparation for Holy Communion "
