Through meditation we open to our True Nature, the Unborn Buddha Nature and to the source of our suffering. This introduction to Serene Reflection (Soto Zen) meditation is presented in a simple, practical and thorough manner with articles on the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of this type of meditation. The Buddha taught that there is suffering or unsatisfactoriness and that there is a way to find the cessation of or liberation from suffering. Articles include teachings on how to bring the Buddha's Teaching into all aspects of our lives and how we can live in harmony with ourselves and all living beings. The articles in this book were written by male and female Buddhist monks and lay trainees within the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives."

Download or read book The Lotus Flower written by Shamim Razaq and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-06-11 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lotus Flower is a collection of poetry about healing; mother nature; love; relationships; spirituality; religion; depression amongst many other subjects. The Lotus Flower stays close to mother nature throughout. The poems were written in order to heal from mental health illness and gain a new life of spirituality and wisdom. The poetry depicts life in its minute form and brings small things to life. The poetry is written from a feminist point of view covering many areas of femininity and mother nature. Beginning with the poem 'My Brand New Book,' shows my second chance in life of writing and living, still staying natural to my environment and my experiences. As the poems develop and come out of their shell I write about depresssion and relationships, asking the question: Who am I ? continuously. The title is inspired from the poem 'About Ancestor Voices' and it was after this poem my poetry was growing into another dimension, especially the lines: ' The lakes are laid with the Lotus, As they have fought from the depths of waters', Carrying hope, light and purity in their shield like petals.'The poetry develops into 'My World' and 'A Poetess Grows' showing the development in the poetry reflecting life. As it develops I express the importance of childhood and religion. As identity in finding life back is explored I return to religion and back to nature. After writing 'The Phoenix' the poetry expresses love and resurrection and how much we can learn from mother nature.

Like the lotus flower who grows through mud yet rises everyday to greet the sunshine without a slither of darkness upon its petals, you will too, move through your life with grace, resilience and beauty. And still, the Lotus Flower Blooms.

introduction.Every day we are submerged in the unknown and the only anchor in our day is our intuition, the belief that our Higher Self is guiding us on our path. We hold safety in this knowing. For here we can receive undeniable strength and unshakable confidence to pursue our dreams. But even though we hold our self-love close, there are moments of weaknesses, there are circumstances that break us down. We need to remember that this is all part of the process, our life is forever an inner journey of evolution. We are always being given an invitation to lean into the madness and grow our inner strength. We are like the lotus flower, and the hardships in our life reflect the mud amidst the water. The lotus flower will always emerge through the mud to rise and honor the sun, pure and perfect with not a scratch of dirt on its petals. And this is how we must look at our life - with a great sense of knowing that we, too, will rise. Even though we endure difficult times, these experiences only assist in our journey of personal growth. And so despite the mud that could potentially taint our soul, despite the opposing challenges that can cause great suffering, despite the power of our own mind sometimes tricking us down into misery. We will rise again as the beautiful and pure loving light energy that we are.And still, the lotus flower blooms.

I see you

You. Beautiful, delicate, graceful you.Stop hiding your gifts to the world.Stop thinking that life is going against you.Don't you know how divinely guided you are?How this world is happening for you, not to you? That everything happens for a reason?Yes, it's hard to know why, and it's hard to continue having patience. But stay strong, stay balanced, and level headed.because everything that you want is coming. And all the beauty in the world will be yours, when the alignment is right.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Born in the segregated south, my life's story traces seven decades of self-discovery, social awakening and personal liberation- through the Civil Rights Movement, The Vietnam War, the Sexual Revolution, the advent of Asian spirituality in America, life in Franco's Spain and Indhira Gandhi's India, and multiple career: as sculptor, teacher, writer, interpreter, clergyman, and advocate for cultural competence and multi-cultural understanding. The book attempts to reveal how the distinct and seemingly disparate threads of my life experience- sex, love, relationships, language, art, music, spirituality, career, and travel- are all integrally interwoven. Consequently, I have accepted that to do so honestly requires a willingness to be vulnerable on my part, and to articulate intimate and sometimes painful or embarrassing experiences that are seldom topics of open conversation. I do so not to be provocative, and certainly not to lay blame on anyone for their role in my experience, but only to report what I experienced, how I experienced it at the time, and how I understand it now, in the hopes it will encourage others in facing and embracing their own histories, heal any wounds they may be carrying from them, celebrate their triumphs, and truly flourish.
