Download or read book How To Govern Anything written by Kevin Everett FitzMaurice and published by FitzMaurice Publishers. This book was released on 2012-08-10 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, discover the first new major government system to be developed in centuries, a form of government that also functions as its own think tank. This book was many years in the making. Some lyrics in the song "Revolution" by the Beatles can be interpreted to mean that any revolution without a new plan is pointless. This interpretation challenged FitzMaurice to create a new and better plan for governments. The result he calls "Ocean Government". The excuses end now. For the right method to use to cause a revolution, visit http://www.aeinstein.org/. For the right method to use to rule after the revolution, use this book.Ocean Government is advantageous for governing countries, corporations, colleges, communes, co-operatives, clubs, churches, temples, institutions, schools, and organizations of any kind. Ocean Government will work for Communist States, Democracies, Dictatorships, Monarchies, Noocracies, Oligarchies, Presidential Republics, Parliamentary Republics, Socialist Republics, Theocracies, or any form of government. It is simple to set up and easy to continue. There is every reason to switch to the Ocean Government system, and no reason not to give up antiquated systems of government. This book gives you all the tools and knowledge you need to institute the superior Ocean Government form of government today. The only financial cost to you is the cost of this book. The metaphor and fundamental design element for the structure of Ocean Government is a river ending in the ocean. This structure is diagramed at every level to make it easy to understand, apply, and reference. You begin with springs feeding tributaries. You move to tributaries feeding streams and then to streams feeding rivers. Last, you arrive at rivers feeding the ocean. Finally, you reach a system of government that rewards intelligence, cooperation, and participation at every level.

Book Can Government Do Anything Right

Download or read book Can Government Do Anything Right written by Alasdair Roberts and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-03-02 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Across the Western world, people are angry about the inability of government to perform basic functions competently. With widespread evidence of policy failures at home and ill-conceived wars and interventions abroad, it is hardly surprising that politicians are distrusted and government is derided as a sprawling, wasteful mess. But what exactly is government supposed to do, and is the track record of Western governments really so awful? In this compelling book, leading scholar of public policy and management, Alasdair Roberts, explores what government does well and what it does badly. Political leaders, he explains, have always been obliged to wrestle with shifting circumstances and contending priorities, making the job of governing extraordinarily difficult. The performance of western democracies in recent decades is, admittedly, far from perfect but - as Roberts ably shows - it is also much better than you might think.

Book excerpt: Classic Books Library presents this brand new edition of “The Federalist Papers”, a collection of separate essays and articles compiled in 1788 by Alexander Hamilton. Following the United States Declaration of Independence in 1776, the governing doctrines and policies of the States lacked cohesion. “The Federalist”, as it was previously known, was constructed by American statesman Alexander Hamilton, and was intended to catalyse the ratification of the United States Constitution. Hamilton recruited fellow statesmen James Madison Jr., and John Jay to write papers for the compendium, and the three are known as some of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Alexander Hamilton (c. 1755–1804) was an American lawyer, journalist and highly influential government official. He also served as a Senior Officer in the Army between 1799-1800 and founded the Federalist Party, the system that governed the nation’s finances. His contributions to the Constitution and leadership made a significant and lasting impact on the early development of the nation of the United States.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why our workplaces are authoritarian private governments—and why we can’t see it One in four American workers says their workplace is a “dictatorship.” Yet that number almost certainly would be higher if we recognized employers for what they are—private governments with sweeping authoritarian power over our lives. Many employers minutely regulate workers’ speech, clothing, and manners on the job, and employers often extend their authority to the off-duty lives of workers, who can be fired for their political speech, recreational activities, diet, and almost anything else employers care to govern. In this compelling book, Elizabeth Anderson examines why, despite all this, we continue to talk as if free markets make workers free, and she proposes a better way to think about the workplace, opening up space for discovering how workers can enjoy real freedom.

Book Government s Greatest Achievements

Download or read book Government s Greatest Achievements written by Paul C. Light and published by Brookings Institution Press. This book was released on 2010-12-01 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an era of promises to create smaller, more limited government, Americans often forget that the federal government has amassed an extraordinary record of successes over the past half century. Despite seemingly insurmountable odds, it helped rebuild Europe after World War II, conquered polio and other life-threatening diseases, faced down communism, attacked racial discrimination, reduced poverty among the elderly, and put men on the moon. In Government's Greatest Achievements, Paul C. Light explores the federal government's most successful accomplishments over the previous five decades and anticipates the most significant challenges of the next half century. While some successes have come through major legislation such as the 1965 Medicare Act, or large-scale efforts like the Apollo space program, most have been achieved through collections of smaller, often unheralded statutes. Drawing on survey responses from 230 historians and 220 political scientists at colleges and universities nationwide, Light ranks and summarizes the fifty greatest government achievements from 1944 to 1999. The achievements were ranked based on difficulty, importance, and degree of success. Through a series of twenty vignettes, he paints a vivid picture of the most intense government efforts to improve the quality of life both at home and abroad—from enhancing health care and workplace safety, to expanding home ownership, to improving education, to protecting endangered species, to strengthening the national defense. The book also examines how Americans perceive government's greatest achievements, and reveals what they consider to be its most significant failures. America is now calling on the government to resolve another complex, difficult problem: the defeat of terrorism. Light concludes by discussing this enormous task, as well as government's other greatest priorities for the next fifty years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You can obtain a life of purpose and clarity by making a decision. That decision will create a pathway to determine if you will live soberly or impaired. As I'm evolving in life, I have come to realize that my life is in the shape, it is in because of my decision-the decision I make during the challenging times and the good times. And these decisions are derived on the information we compiled throughout our existence on Earth. This is a small perception, considering the condition of the world, but if we really examine our lives, we can come to the conclusion that we are more connected than apart, and everyone on the earth has a responsibility to make it a better place. In The Government, I have discussed my thoughts on why the world is in the state of its condition and how we play a vital role in making the right choice not only for ourselves but also for those who are living in it as well.

Book Governing through Standards the Faceless Masters of Higher Education

Download or read book Governing through Standards the Faceless Masters of Higher Education written by Katja Brøgger and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-09 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an empirical and theoretical account of the mode of governance that characterizes the Bologna Process. In addition, it shows how the reform materializes and is translated in everyday working life among professors and managers in higher education. It examines the so-called Open Method of Coordination as a powerful actor that uses “soft governance” to advance transnational standards in higher education. The book shows how these standards no longer serve as tools for what were once human organizational, national or international, regulators. Instead, the standards have become regulators themselves – the faceless masters of higher education. By exploring this, the book reveals the close connections between the Bologna Process and the EU regarding regulative and monitoring techniques such as standardizations and comparisons, which are carried out through the Open Method of Coordination. It suggests that the Bologna Process works as a subtle means to circumvent the EU’s subsidiarity principle, making it possible to accomplish a European governance of higher education despite the fact that education falls outside EU’s legislative reach. The book’s research interest in translation processes, agency and power relations among policy actors positions it in studies on policy transfer, policy borrowing and globalization. However, different from conventional approaches, this study draws on additional interpretive frameworks such as new materialism.
