Book How to Accelerate Executive Support for Projects electronic Resource

Download or read book How to Accelerate Executive Support for Projects electronic Resource written by Michael O'Brochta and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Even world-class project managers will not succeed unless they get their executives to act for project success. The trap of applying best practice project management only to have the project fail because of executive inaction or counteraction can be avoided. Increasing numbers of project managers are looking for ways to deal with this reality. This how-to paper describes how project managers can get their executives to act and identifies the top ten executive actions most likely to contribute to project success. This paper draws upon research from related fields about management and leadership, offers a model to gauge levels of executive support for projects, and identifies actions the project manager and executive can take to accelerate executive support to the next level. This new, two-dimensional model--the Executive Support for Projects Model--which has been developed by the author, gauges the level of executive support for projects. This model includes scales for accessing the attitude of the executive as well as the ability of the executive. The paper defines the model's scales, explains the model's four quadrants, and provides guidance on how the model can be used to guide action. It is to be used as an aid in assessing and diagnosing the organizational environment in which the project manager and executive reside. A central theme is that project managers are empowered to extend their spheres of influence beyond the immediate project boundaries, up to higher levels of the organization, to get their executives to act and help implement the actions as well.

Book Succeeding with Senior Management

Download or read book Succeeding with Senior Management written by G. Campbell and published by AMACOM. This book was released on 2017-08-10 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This all-inclusive communication guide explains how the project manager can bridge the gap and engage the upper ranks. Senior managers speak the language of strategy. Project managers use the language of tasks and activities. These significantly different communication styles can lead to breakdowns and setbacks at project sites that are difficult to overcome, especially for the project manager. The key to working through this is communication--specifically communicating up. By establishing relationships early on, understanding executives, and keeping them involved, project managers can win the support they need--which will be especially critical when problems arise. Succeeding with Senior Management that covers a wide range of industries explains how project managers can: Navigate the company’s political waters Link the project to the business Provide options and recommendations for major decisions Use the right listening style Involve the sponsor in resolving cross-functional problems Learn how to keep senior management involved with your project, motivated to push obstacles aside, and focused on a successful conclusion. When troubles arise--and they will--you’ll be glad you kept them in the loop.

Book excerpt: One of the biggest challenges facing organizations today is the ability to deliver the necessary change to sustain competitive advantage and adapt to economic and market environments. However, the gap between what organizations would like to deliver and their capabilities to do so is getting increasingly wide. Enterprise Change Management provides a practical roadmap for bridging this gap to help organizations build the sustainable capabilities to implement a portfolio of changes. Based on research on change performance from over 300 organizations and 400,000 data points over a 21-year period, Enterprise Change Management will help diagnose the root causes of the organizational change gap, manage demand for change and create the context for successful continuous change in the organization. This book introduces five core capabilities - adaptive leadership; executing single changes effectively; managing the demand for change; hiring resilient people and creating the context for successful change. Frameworks, processes and tools help readers assess change capabilities and then create a strategy to close the change gap and improve performance in their organization.

Book Management Consulting in the Era of the Digital Organization

Download or read book Management Consulting in the Era of the Digital Organization written by David Brian Szabla and published by IAP. This book was released on 2023-07-01 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 4th Industrial Revolution is well underway. Our lives are changing at an exponential rate, resulting in a multi-faceted, deeply interconnected world. The digital revolution is integrating multiple technologies, which is leading to unprecedented paradigm shifts in the economy, management, and society. Entire systems across countries, industries, and societies are being transformed, triggering a transformation that is unlike anything humankind has ever experienced. Given the confluence of dramatic changes in organizational life, triggering emerging technology breakthroughs such as robotics, the internet of things, biotechnology, materials science, data science and big data, and quantum computing, this volume of the Research in Management Consulting series explores how the research and practice of management consulting is unfolding in a new era of profound shifts in the way researchers and consultants sense, think, and act. The authors of this volume bring both to scholars and practitioners the latest discussions of efforts to understand consulting in organizations amplified by the fusion of technologies across physical, digital, and biological worlds. They also bring to light a movement from human supervised artificial intelligence systems to fully autonomous artificial intelligence systems that have the potential to demonstrate intelligence beyond uman capabilities.

Book Accelerating Digital Transformation

Download or read book Accelerating Digital Transformation written by Jan Bosch and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-20 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book celebrates the 10-year anniversary of Software Center (a collaboration between 18 European companies and five Swedish universities) by presenting some of the most impactful and relevant journal or conference papers that researchers in the center have published over the last decade. The book is organized around the five themes around which research in Software Center is organized, i.e. Continuous Delivery, Continuous Architecture, Metrics, Customer Data and Ecosystems Driven Development, and AI Engineering. The focus of the Continuous Delivery theme is to help companies to continuously build high quality products with the right degree of automation. The Continuous Architecture theme addresses challenges that arise when balancing the need for architectural quality and more agile ways of working with shorter development cycles. The Metrics theme studies and provides insight to understand, monitor and improve software processes, products and organizations. The fourth theme, Customer Data and Ecosystem Driven Development, helps companies make sense of the vast amounts of data that are continuously collected from products in the field. Eventually, the theme of AI Engineering addresses the challenge that many companies struggle with in terms of deploying machine- and deep-learning models in industrial contexts with production quality. Each theme has its own part in the book and each part has an introduction chapter and then a carefully selected reprint of the most important papers from that theme. This book mainly aims at researchers and advanced professionals in the areas of software engineering who would like to get an overview about the achievement made in various topics relevant for industrial large-scale software development and management – and to see how research benefits from a close cooperation between industry and academia.

Book Innovative Strategies for Accelerated Human Resources Development in South Asia

Download or read book Innovative Strategies for Accelerated Human Resources Development in South Asia written by Asian Development Bank and published by Asian Development Bank. This book was released on 2017-12-01 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information and communication technology (ICT) has the potential to revolutionize education equity, quality, and efficiency. South Asia's governments have recognized this potential and invested in ICT-focused education initiatives and projects. While these efforts helped to introduce ICT-enabled teaching and learning practices, they may not be sufficient for widespread sustainable adoption within their countries. The stage of implementation and impact of investments also vary significantly from country to country in South Asia. This paper examines the existing state and gaps of ICT in education of three South Asian countries---Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka---and suggests strategies to address these gaps.
