Book excerpt: In the spring of 2010, Harvard Business School’s graduating class asked HBS professor Clay Christensen to address them—but not on how to apply his principles and thinking to their post-HBS careers. The students wanted to know how to apply his wisdom to their personal lives. He shared with them a set of guidelines that have helped him find meaning in his own life, which led to this now-classic article. Although Christensen’s thinking is rooted in his deep religious faith, these are strategies anyone can use. The Harvard Business Review Classics series now offers you the opportunity to make these seminal pieces a part of your permanent management library. Each highly readable volume contains a groundbreaking idea that continues to shape best practices and inspire countless managers around the world.

Download or read book Spaceship Underground written by METIN SAHIN and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2024-10-08 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientists, especially those interested in natural sciences, have discovered many elements. Today's science and technology has also improved itself with the use of these elements. However, there are definitely very different elements on other planets, star systems and even universes. If these can be achieved, then we will encounter phenomena such as a living creature being able to walk to the moon. The atoms of the elements themselves are "smart" to some extent. If there was no such controllable structure, then science and technology would not be able to go beyond social sciences. However, as mentioned above, very different "smart elements" in very different environments will open the door to many different and currently unknown applications for creatures that can think intelligently. It is inevitable that it should be like this or that it should be like this. Just as nature and everything in nature is aging, the aging of science and technology means that it is moving forward. Science and technology can also control themselves. (This does not mean the task or job of a robot.) With time travel, science and technology will gain a different value and become the most superior living creature created by God. What will achieve this is the work to be done using intelligent and thinking creatures (human beings).
Download or read book Passing By written by Jerzy Kosinski and published by Open Road + Grove/Atlantic. This book was released on 2007-12-01 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A collection of writings offers a revealing and provocative self-portrait of an author whose life was shrouded in enigma. Jerzy Kosinski was one of the most important and original writers of his time. Passing By serves as his legacy. This collection of essays by the late author features pieces about polo and skiing, levitation, the streets of New York, present-day Poland, the Cannes film festival, celebrities, and more. The man who emerges here has a passion for sport, a quirky sense of fun, an idiosyncratic range of acquaintances stretching from Pope John Paul II to Warren Beatty, and an abiding love of secrets, conundrums, and fantasies. But first and foremost, as he demonstrates in major essays on his novels The Painted Bird and Steps, Kosinski is a powerful, incomparable literary artist. “Kosinski’s vibrant, sexy, questioning voice is fully present.” —The Boston Globe

Download or read book Renwar Vall e written by Mary D. Johnson and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-10-29 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Narbi Valley Town, also known as Middle Quarters, was established in the early eighteenth century in the land of Cantala. It is home to humans, light and dark witches, as well as warlocks who occupy the North and South of the land. It was forbidden for humans and witches to marry or intermingle, unless it was for ritualistic purposes. Humans lived in constant fear of the evil beings that would sacrifice their loved ones and use them in demonic rituals toward Satan. A battle between good and evil resulted in the death of one of the members of the upper echelons in the witches hierarchy. As time passed, witches and warlocks soon intermarried with humans, as the former chose to give up their craft and live a human or Christian life. However, as good as life appeared to be, evil still lurked in the darkness, growing and hiding while biding its time until it launched a new onslaught of wickedness on those that lay below. One hundred years later, with the rise of the upper witches bloodline, the threat of raising Satan and his demons in the twenty-first century is real. A prophecy was foretold of eight souls that would help save the town and neighboring countries whose livelihood is threatened by the sudden rise of demonic activities, resulting from the agents of Lucifer infiltrating most of the town. With the threat of complete annihilation on the horizon, a young man will face the biggest question of his life: does God really exist? His name is Renwar Valle, and together with his young friends, he will need to stand against evil to rescue the souls of Narbi Valley Town. When the curtain falls, will good prevail, or will evil take full control?
