Book Horses to Follow

Download or read book Horses to Follow written by Jake Colclough and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-01-16 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to the guide for 2019. It contains fifty horses that are coming into their three-year-old seasons—colts or fillies, potential classic winners or useful handicappers in the making. The aim of the guide is to supply us with as many winners in the 2019 season as possible. To aid our search for winners, we look back into the horses’ juvenile campaigns and analyse their runs as well as a potential rating to pinpoint target races months in advance as well as have a small insight to a few of the stables. Last year, we were blessed with a thrilling crop of three-year-old champion fillies. Alpha Centauri swept to save the mile division for Mrs. John Harrington and the Niarchos family, the multigroup 1 winning fillies Sea of Class, and Laurens for William Haggas and Karl Burke respectively. And the St. Leger runner-up Lah Ti Dah from that beautifully bred family of Oaks winner Dar Re Mi, trained by John Gosden. The difficult agenda we have on our hands is that out of that crop of high class three-year-olds, only two of them raced as juveniles. Sea of Class was a late foal, and Lah Ti Dar wasn’t given her debut until April at Newmarket. However, I believe we have seen enough to give us a proper insight to the British Classics of 2019. Now, why three-year-olds? This is the most exciting year in a horses’ racing career as their potential is unknown, and an improving horse can be very valuable to keep onside—for example, the crop of fillies. If you backed each and every one of their runs to a ten-pound stake you would be £495.90 better off for it. Last season at this stage we had already seen the Guineas winner (8/1, Saxon Warrior) and the Derby winner (Masar), and that is more than enough for me, and hopefully, you to delve into this year’s crop. The guide will include some of the top performers from the juvenile season, but generally, any racing watcher could throw a list together of highly rated horses together. So my aim—on top of the superstars—is to give us a group of three-year-olds that will come on from their two-year-old campaigns and hopefully finish off a better rating come the end of the year than the mark they started on, which should give us a nice crop of winners for the coming 2019 flat season.

Book Pathways to Possibility

Download or read book Pathways to Possibility written by Rosamund Stone Zander and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2016-06-21 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Rosamund Zander is a miracle. Her generous voice will resonate with you, change you and help you create work that matters." —Seth Godin, author of The Icarus Deception The bestselling author of The Art of Possibility returns with a new vision for achieving true human fulfillment that's sure to appeal to fans of Brene Brown's Daring Greatly and Elizabeth Gilbert's Big Magic As children, we develop stories about how the world works, most of which get improved upon and amended over time. But some do not, even as we mature in other ways. Opinionated, self-centered and fear-driven, these “child stories” are the source of the behavioral and emotional patterns that hold us back. When we learn to identify and rewrite these stories, limitless growth becomes possible. In her groundbreaking and inspiring new book, Rosamund Stone Zander shows us that life is a story we tell ourselves, and that we have the power to change that story. She illuminates how breaking old patterns and telling a new story can transform not just our own lives, but also our relationships with others—whether in a marriage, a classroom, or a business. Finally, she demonstrates how, with this new understanding of ourselves and our place within an interconnected world, we can take powerful action in the collective interest, and gain a sense of deep connection to the universe. Pathways to Possibility expands our notions of how much we can grow and change, whether we can affect others or the world at large, and how much freedom and joy we can experience. Stimulating and profound, it is the perfect companion to her beloved first book, The Art of Possibility.

Book Horse Sense for People

Download or read book Horse Sense for People written by Monty Roberts and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2002-05-28 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of the #1 bestseller The Man Who Listens to Horses, a book for all of us seeking to strengthen our human relationships "Monty Roberts will make you marvel."—The New York Times Book Review In The Man Who Listens to Horses, Monty Roberts revealed the depth of communication possible between human and horse. Touching the hearts of more than four million readers worldwide, that memoir—which spent more than a year at the top of The New York Times bestseller list—described his discovery of the "language" of horses and the dramatic effectiveness of removing violence from their training. Now, the world's most famous horse gentler demonstrates how his revolutionary Join-Up technique can be used not just for horses, but as a model for how to strengthen human relationships. With vivid, often deeply moving anecdotes, Roberts shows how the lessons learned from the thousands of horses he has known can provide effective guidelines for improving the quality of our communication with one another—from learning to "read" each other effectively, to creative fear-free environments, and, most importantly, teaching belief in the power of gentleness and trust.

Book You Can Train Your Horse to Do Anything

Download or read book You Can Train Your Horse to Do Anything written by Shawna Karrasch and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2012-12-17 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you have ever wished you could get your horse to consistently perform to the best of his ability, On Target Training is for you. This effective new method combines the basics of clicker training (widely used on marine mammals and dogs) with a step-by-step target system that assures training success for any breed or any age horse. Karrasch explains reward reinforcement training in a way that makes it easy to learn. She guides the reader through all the basics, including teaching the bridge signal (using the clicker) and employing hand-held and stationary targets; she then cover aspects of training horses both on the ground and under saddle. Training advice is provided for: specific riding disciplines ‹ jumping, Western riding, dressage, and trail; behavior problems; trailer loading; working with young horses; and last of all, just for fun, teaching tricks. Shawna says: “A degree in psychology is not required to train animals. It is, however, helpful. All of the work we do as animal trainers (with horses too) is based in psychology, whether we are aware of it or not. The more you understand about these proven principles the better you are as a trainer. The focus of my training is helping people to gain a better understanding of behavioral psychology and the benefits of positive reinforcement in regards to horse training. I chose to make the move to horses partly due to the lack of positive reinforcement being used with horses. I recognized that horses were not trained the same as the marine mammals. I also saw that the training we implemented at Sea World would be a huge asset to the horse world. A lot of horse people, including professionals, don't know much about the proven principles of behavioral psychology. Therefore, I see a bigger need in helping horse folk to further understand the principles that govern the relationships we build with our horses.. It is really fun to see the light come on!!”
