Book Homotopical Algebraic Geometry II Geometric Stacks and Applications

Download or read book Homotopical Algebraic Geometry II Geometric Stacks and Applications written by Bertrand Toën and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2008 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second part of a series of papers called "HAG", devoted to developing the foundations of homotopical algebraic geometry. The authors start by defining and studying generalizations of standard notions of linear algebra in an abstract monoidal model category, such as derivations, étale and smooth morphisms, flat and projective modules, etc. They then use their theory of stacks over model categories to define a general notion of geometric stack over a base symmetric monoidal model category $C$, and prove that this notion satisfies the expected properties.

Book A Study in Derived Algebraic Geometry

Download or read book A Study in Derived Algebraic Geometry written by Dennis Gaitsgory and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2020-10-07 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Derived algebraic geometry is a far-reaching generalization of algebraic geometry. It has found numerous applications in other parts of mathematics, most prominently in representation theory. This volume develops deformation theory, Lie theory and the theory of algebroids in the context of derived algebraic geometry. To that end, it introduces the notion of inf-scheme, which is an infinitesimal deformation of a scheme and studies ind-coherent sheaves on such. As an application of the general theory, the six-functor formalism for D-modules in derived geometry is obtained. This volume consists of two parts. The first part introduces the notion of ind-scheme and extends the theory of ind-coherent sheaves to inf-schemes, obtaining the theory of D-modules as an application. The second part establishes the equivalence between formal Lie group(oids) and Lie algebr(oids) in the category of ind-coherent sheaves. This equivalence gives a vast generalization of the equivalence between Lie algebras and formal moduli problems. This theory is applied to study natural filtrations in formal derived geometry generalizing the Hodge filtration.

Book Homotopy Theory and Arithmetic Geometry Motivic and Diophantine Aspects

Download or read book Homotopy Theory and Arithmetic Geometry Motivic and Diophantine Aspects written by Frank Neumann and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-29 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to state-of-the-art applications of homotopy theory to arithmetic geometry. The contributions to this volume are based on original lectures by leading researchers at the LMS-CMI Research School on ‘Homotopy Theory and Arithmetic Geometry - Motivic and Diophantine Aspects’ and the Nelder Fellow Lecturer Series, which both took place at Imperial College London in the summer of 2018. The contribution by Brazelton, based on the lectures by Wickelgren, provides an introduction to arithmetic enumerative geometry, the notes of Cisinski present motivic sheaves and new cohomological methods for intersection theory, and Schlank’s contribution gives an overview of the use of étale homotopy theory for obstructions to the existence of rational points on algebraic varieties. Finally, the article by Asok and Østvær, based in part on the Nelder Fellow lecture series by Østvær, gives a survey of the interplay between motivic homotopy theory and affine algebraic geometry, with a focus on contractible algebraic varieties. Now a major trend in arithmetic geometry, this volume offers a detailed guide to the fascinating circle of recent applications of homotopy theory to number theory. It will be invaluable to research students entering the field, as well as postdoctoral and more established researchers.

Book Higher Categories and Homotopical Algebra

Download or read book Higher Categories and Homotopical Algebra written by Denis-Charles Cisinski and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2019-05-02 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to modern homotopy theory through the lens of higher categories after Joyal and Lurie, giving access to methods used at the forefront of research in algebraic topology and algebraic geometry in the twenty-first century. The text starts from scratch - revisiting results from classical homotopy theory such as Serre's long exact sequence, Quillen's theorems A and B, Grothendieck's smooth/proper base change formulas, and the construction of the Kan–Quillen model structure on simplicial sets - and develops an alternative to a significant part of Lurie's definitive reference Higher Topos Theory, with new constructions and proofs, in particular, the Yoneda Lemma and Kan extensions. The strong emphasis on homotopical algebra provides clear insights into classical constructions such as calculus of fractions, homotopy limits and derived functors. For graduate students and researchers from neighbouring fields, this book is a user-friendly guide to advanced tools that the theory provides for application.

Book Algebraic Geometry over C Rings

Download or read book Algebraic Geometry over C Rings written by Dominic Joyce and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-09-05 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If X is a manifold then the R-algebra C∞(X) of smooth functions c:X→R is a C∞-ring. That is, for each smooth function f:Rn→R there is an n-fold operation Φf:C∞(X)n→C∞(X) acting by Φf:(c1,…,cn)↦f(c1,…,cn), and these operations Φf satisfy many natural identities. Thus, C∞(X) actually has a far richer structure than the obvious R-algebra structure. The author explains the foundations of a version of algebraic geometry in which rings or algebras are replaced by C∞-rings. As schemes are the basic objects in algebraic geometry, the new basic objects are C∞-schemes, a category of geometric objects which generalize manifolds and whose morphisms generalize smooth maps. The author also studies quasicoherent sheaves on C∞-schemes, and C∞-stacks, in particular Deligne-Mumford C∞-stacks, a 2-category of geometric objects generalizing orbifolds. Many of these ideas are not new: C∞-rings and C∞ -schemes have long been part of synthetic differential geometry. But the author develops them in new directions. In earlier publications, the author used these tools to define d-manifolds and d-orbifolds, “derived” versions of manifolds and orbifolds related to Spivak's “derived manifolds”.

Book A Study in Derived Algebraic Geometry

Download or read book A Study in Derived Algebraic Geometry written by Dennis Gaitsgory and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2019-12-31 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Derived algebraic geometry is a far-reaching generalization of algebraic geometry. It has found numerous applications in various parts of mathematics, most prominently in representation theory. This volume develops the theory of ind-coherent sheaves in the context of derived algebraic geometry. Ind-coherent sheaves are a “renormalization” of quasi-coherent sheaves and provide a natural setting for Grothendieck-Serre duality as well as geometric incarnations of numerous categories of interest in representation theory. This volume consists of three parts and an appendix. The first part is a survey of homotopical algebra in the setting of $infty$-categories and the basics of derived algebraic geometry. The second part builds the theory of ind-coherent sheaves as a functor out of the category of correspondences and studies the relationship between ind-coherent and quasi-coherent sheaves. The third part sets up the general machinery of the $mathrm{(}infty, 2mathrm{)}$-category of correspondences needed for the second part. The category of correspondences, via the theory developed in the third part, provides a general framework for Grothendieck's six-functor formalism. The appendix provides the necessary background on $mathrm{(}infty, 2mathrm{)}$-categories needed for the third part.

Book Axiomatic Enriched and Motivic Homotopy Theory

Download or read book Axiomatic Enriched and Motivic Homotopy Theory written by John Greenlees and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-01-31 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The NATO Advanced Study Institute "Axiomatic, enriched and rna tivic homotopy theory" took place at the Isaac Newton Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge, England during 9-20 September 2002. The Directors were J.P.C.Greenlees and I.Zhukov; the other or ganizers were P.G.Goerss, F.Morel, J.F.Jardine and V.P.Snaith. The title describes the content well, and both the event and the contents of the present volume reflect recent remarkable successes in model categor ies, structured ring spectra and homotopy theory of algebraic geometry. The ASI took the form of a series of 15 minicourses and a few extra lectures, and was designed to provide background, and to bring the par ticipants up to date with developments. The present volume is based on a number of the lectures given during the workshop. The ASI was the opening workshop of the four month programme "New Contexts for Stable Homotopy Theory" which explored several themes in greater depth. I am grateful to the Isaac Newton Institute for providing such an ideal venue, the NATO Science Committee for their funding, and to all the speakers at the conference, whether or not they were able to contribute to the present volume. All contributions were refereed, and I thank the authors and referees for their efforts to fit in with the tight schedule. Finally, I would like to thank my coorganizers and all the staff at the Institute for making the ASI run so smoothly. J.P.C.GREENLEES.
