Download or read book Family of God Hodge Podge written by Claudia Harris and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2001-06-01 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who speaks for the "Body of Christ" collectively (all born again believers--worldwide)? Many denominations and large bodies of believers or Christians (conventions), differ and disagree on many topics chosen for discussion in this book (women in the ministry, the bible, etc.). Who is correct? Who should one believe? God is not divided? The Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit work together harmoniously (as one)! Because of mans/womans interpretation of scriptures, the "Body of Christ" (all born again believers), is divided. We, "The Body of Christ", must harmonize our differences so that we may be able to work together harmoniously and bring in a great harvest. Many of the subjects of debate among born again believers can be "tabled" or set aside. The gospel (salvation) is very simple! (That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9) God did not complicate salvation! Jesus chose "unlearned" (by mans standards) fisherman to spread the gospel story! Jesus the Christ can be accepted in the heart anywhere, any hour of the day or night! This book is entitled "Hodge Podge" (mixture) because of the diverse topics chosen for discussion.

Book excerpt: Unlikely pairs join forces to crack a slew of intriguing cases in an anthology edited by New York Times bestselling author Anne Perry, featuring original stories by Jacqueline Winspear, Jeffery Deaver, Allison Brennan, Charles Todd, and many more, including Perry herself. Throughout the annals of fiction, there have been many celebrated detective teams: Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Nick and Nora Charles. Hercule Poirot and Arthur Hastings. Thomas and Charlotte Pitt. That last pair is the creation of beloved mystery writer Anne Perry, who, as the editor of Odd Partners and in conjunction with Mystery Writers of America, has enlisted some of today’s best mystery writers to craft all-new stories about unlikely duos who join forces—sometimes unwillingly—to solve beguiling whodunits. From Perry’s own entry, in which an English sergeant and his German counterpart set out to find a missing soldier during World War I, to a psychological tale of an airplane passenger who wakes up unsure of who he is and must enlist his fellow passengers to help him remember, to a historical mystery about a misguided witch-hunt and the unlikely couple that brings it down, each story deals in the wonderful complexities of human interactions. And not just human interactions: Honey bees avenge the death of their beekeeper, a wandering cat brings home clues to a murder, and a gray wolf and a fly fisherman in the Minnesota woods try to protect their land from a brash billionaire. Download or read book We Other Utopians written by Eva Šlesingerová and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-12-30 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We, Other Utopians is the first book to analyze the topics of genome editing/recombinant DNA on the basis of ethnographic research in the post-communist context. The book focuses on the topics of human DNA editing and genome repair on two levels. First, inspired by texts analyzing the concept of life and the body in general, it conceptually and analytically works with various approaches to engineered life and embodiments from the perspective of anthropology, sociology, and science and technology studies. Second, it presents an analysis of artificial life, and biotechnological embodiments on concrete technologies – genome editing, recombinant DNA, and biological computing. The book explores the theme of genome editing based on ethnographic research conducted at a biochemical laboratory in the Czech Republic. The fieldwork was carried out from 2017 to 2019, mainly in a lab focusing on DNA damages and genomic risk of complex diseases or genetic vulnerabilities like breast cancer, infertility, and ageing. Recombinant DNA is understood here as the exchange of DNA strands to produce and design new nucleotide sequence arrangements to heal or enhance human bodies and health in the future. The book analyzes various economies of hope, hype, expectations, politics, and poetics of false promises and better or worse predictions from the point of view of sociology, anthropology, and science and technology studies.

Download or read book The Calling What the Lord Intended written by Donald T. Davies and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-02 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to David Barrett of the World Christian Encyclopedia, there are more than 10,000 distinct religions in the world. Maybe, surprisingly to some, Barrett says there are 34,000 separate Christian groups. Hmmm. That's a lot of faith. That's a lot of religion; most of which finds its basis in human reason and invention. However, there's a faith that's called THE FAITH. It finds its basis and creation in the Lord, and is clearly delineated in His Word, the Bible. He, the Lord not man, set the parameters, the boundaries, and the substance of the faith. Unfortunately, those who claim to be followers of the Lord have tended to wander from the kind of faith the Lord has called His people to follow and reproduce. The author doesn't presume to have special revelation. He doesn't pretend to have access to secrets that are unique to him. He simply places THE FAITH into its historical context while making application to the believer of today. It's time to take a fresh look at the faith and calling the Lord intended. This book is just the beginning, but the author hopes it will be a profitable beginning for all who read it. DONALD DAVIES has been married to his high school sweetheart, Carolyn, for 43 years. Over the years they've been blessed with eight children of their own and numerous foster children. After graduating from college (University of Akron) and Seminary (Asbury Theological Seminary), Donald has served as pastor in a number of churches, retiring from the Arlington Memorial Baptist Church after 25 years of service there and a total of 40 years in the pulpit ministry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can a life weave along through the same notes and yet come to play forth different sounds? The Sound of SCH (pronounced S-C-H) is the true story of a journey with mental illness, beautifully told by Danielle Lim from a time when she grew up witnessing her uncle's untold struggle with a crippling mental and social disease, and her mother's difficult role as caregiver. The story takes place between 1961 and 1994, backdropped by a fast-globalising Singapore where stigmatisation of persons afflicted with mental illness nevertheless remains deep-seated. Unflinchingly raw and honest in its portrayal of living with schizophrenia, The Sound of Sch is a moving account of human resiliency and sacrifice in the face of brokenness. Winner of the Singapore Literature Prize (Non-Fiction 2016)
