Book Royal Crime A Controversial Satirical Fable

Download or read book Royal Crime A Controversial Satirical Fable written by Jacqueline M.Q. and published by Ion Iacob. This book was released on with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You’re going to feel something strange in this story. Each character will behave in an unnatural way and you won’t find out the reason until the end. Through a fable where royalty is the protagonist, the constant human desire to save the world is criticized when his falls. If these books and their writers made you reflect: George Orwell’s Farm Rebellion that criticized communism through farming life. The knight in Robert Fisher’s rusty armor who created a beautiful tale about the fear of being yourself. Who took my cheese? written by Spencer Johnson where the fear of change is narrated by two special characters. Margaret Atwood’s Maid’s Tale which created an anti-feminist world based on a passage from the Bible. Jacqueline M.Q. has created a whole modern fable where members of various royal systems kill the owner of the Castle they share. The reason? She was trying to save everyone. Royal Crime is a Controversial Satire Fable that apart from being a personal reflection of the writer after living an experience that inspired her, also challenges the reader to rethink their way of dealing with others as well as with themselves. 3 scenarios. Two criticisms of the political systems of Communism and Capitalism. And the result of Narcissistic human behavior. At the end of reading you will be able to discover the criticism that each character was hiding and the reason for the actions focused on the behaviors of the protagonist who was dead from the beginning, but present in each story. Here the criticism camouflages itself, it snakes nimbly and eludes the reader so that he does not find out the great secret hidden in her characters, not even through the merciless pain described or the images that represent them. In the end you will have to decide who you really feel for and admit that you are glad it didn't happen to you. Jacqueline M.Q. She has had the ability to take 2 years in which she lived as a volunteer throughout the European continent until she arrived in Cyprus, where she hand-wrote this fable and with a totally fantastic and fictional story but that will make a great change in each reader. If you don't resist changes, start reading, a new way of reading and thinking awaits you.

Book Mi Vida en uniforme

Download or read book Mi Vida en uniforme written by Luis R. Pastrana Silva and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-12 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Mi Vida...en uniforme" in English means "My Life ...in uniform" and is a sequel to my first book titled "Mi Calle, Mi Barrio,Mi Pueblo" which again translated to English means "My Street, My Neighborhood, My Town". Each one of those books narrates a distinct phase of my life with all the anecdotes, persons, and situations that formed me as a person. Mi Vida starts where Mi Calle ends and walks the reader while having a conversation, as good friends do, through my life as a college student and then as a United States Army Officer for twenty one years which included a war, Viet Nam, and a series of very challenging and most of them rewarding tours of duty around the world. Those years were not easy but they gave me a profound insight into life and those instances, some very happy and some very sad, are the ones that I wish to share with the reader. Take this walk with me and please feel free to join in the conversation. Un abrazo, Luis.

Download or read book Telling Tales written by Anne L. Walsh and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-04-01 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume delves deeply into the role played by stories and storytelling in shaping, controlling and mapping present-day Spain, and examines fiction in various manifestations and genres, especially written and filmic. It contrasts such stories and their context with the past, investigating the differences and similarities between spatially and geographically varying narrations in order to tease out the link between the time of telling and the act of living. Throughout the book, scholars look separately at this phenomenon, and their findings reveal a close bond between events occurring in the real world and the relating of fictional stories. Particularly in Spain, the geographic space of interest here, storytelling is used both as catharsis and didactically. Authors and filmmakers find inspiration in everyday occurrences, and, while there is nothing unusual in that, the interest here lies in the consequent transformation of these occurrences into fascinating stories that attempt to make sense of chaotic events, connect those events temporally, and explore the meaning of the consequent coherence. Stories are at the very essence of humanity, be they fictional or based on everyday reality. This collection focuses specifically on Spain where easily identifiable features of history (such as the Spanish Civil War, the Franco Dictatorship, transition, democracy, and the global economic crisis) have had a major impact on everyday life. The narratives emerging show clear evidence of that impact, with an emphasis on such themes as the significance of memory, the impossibility and instability of such memory, the chaotic nature of life, and the place of the nation/state in the psyche of the individual, with emerging themes investigating the role of solidarity and empathy in the empowerment of the individual. This volume is informed by the shift that occurred in the twentieth century towards a world of unstable parameters, whereby whatever knowledge that is received must be questioned as to the extent of its authenticity since that knowledge is always affected by memory, experience, and time, all subjective phenomena in themselves.

Book Prose Fiction of the Cuban Revolution

Download or read book Prose Fiction of the Cuban Revolution written by Seymour Menton and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2014-05-23 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recipient of the Hubert Herring Memorial Award from the Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies for the best unpublished manuscript of 1973, Prose Fiction of the Cuban Revolution is an in-depth study of works by Cubans, Cuban exiles, and other Latin American writers. Combining historical and critical approaches, Seymour Menton classifies and analyzes over two hundred novels and volumes of short stories, revealing the extent to which Cuban literature reflects the reality of the Revolution. Menton establishes four periods—1959–1960, 1961–1965,1966–1970, and 1971–1973—that reflect the changing policies of the revolutionary government toward the arts. Using these periods as a chronological guideline, he defines four distinct literary generations, records the facts about their works, establishes coordinates, and formulates a system of literary and historical classification. He then makes an aesthetic analysis of the best of Cuban fiction, emphasizing the novels of major writers, including Alejo Carpentier's El siglo de las luces, and José Lezama Lima's Paradiso. He also discusses the works of a large number of lesser-known writers, which must be considered in arriving at an accurate historical tableau. Menton's exploration of the short story combines a thematic and stylistic analysis of nineteen anthologies with a close study of six authors: Guillermo Cabrera Infante, Calvert Casey, Humberto Arenal, Antonio Benítez, Jesús Díaz Rodríguez, and Norberto Fuentes. Several chapters are devoted to the increasing number of novels and short stories written by Cuban exiles as well as to the eighteen novels and one short story written about the Revolution by non-Cubans, such as Julio Cortázar, Carlos Martínez Moreno, Luisa Josefina Hernández, and Pedro Juan Soto. In studying literary works to reveal the intrinsic consciousness of a historical period, Menton presents not only his own views but also those of Cuban literary critics. In addition, he clarifies the various changes in the official attitude toward literature and the arts in Cuba, using the revolutionary processes of several other countries as comparative examples.

Book Condensation and Coherence in Condensed Matter

Download or read book Condensation and Coherence in Condensed Matter written by Tord Claeson and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2001, the Nobel Foundation celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first Nobel Prize, and all previous Nobel laureates were invited to attend the Nobel ceremonies in Stockholm. This gave an excellent opportunity for arranging jubilee symposia with topics that would attract several of the laureates. The chosen subject of ?Condensation and Coherence in Condensed Systems? attracted sixteen Nobel laureates and another thirty-five leading scientists. The idea was to bring scientists together from several related subdisciplines: atomic physics, quantum optics, and condensed matter physics, for cross-breeding of ideas, concepts, and experience. Subjects like phase transitions in strongly coupled systems, Bose-Einstein condensation in weakly coupled systems, macroscopic quantum phenomena, coherence in mesoscopic structures, and quantum information were intensively discussed from different points of view. Coherence phenomena in condensed systems were emphasized. A special session was devoted to the emerging field of quantum computing, with experimental and theoretical results reported for different types of qu-bits. The 2001 Nobel Prize awarded to Eric Cornell, Wolfgang Ketterle, and Carl Wieman, ?for the achievement of Bose-Einstein condensation in dilute gases of alkali atoms, and for early fundamental studies of the properties of the condensates,? gave an extra flavor to the theme of the Centennial Symposium.
