It has been the ambition of the compilers of this work to make the information herein contained of equal interest to those who are now actively engaged in furthering the state 5 progress. The profound ignorance manifested by many people regarding the West as a whole is astonishing, and especially is this true regarding the growth of the state of Idaho. In traversing the state by rail, especially the southern portion, a most uninviting picture greets the eye nearly the entire distance; but this does not prove that the entire state is thus void of Nature's gifts or of developments which are little less than marvelous. These results have been attained through the untiring efforts of the early pioneers and by the application of skill and industry, coupled with a gen erous distribution of Nature's energy which has recently been harnessed and made to contribute to the growth and development of many enter prises. Book Idaho Chronology Nomenclature Bibliography Classic Reprint

Download or read book Idaho Chronology Nomenclature Bibliography Classic Reprint written by John E. Rees B. Sc and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-29 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Idaho Chronology, Nomenclature, Bibliography Three elements are necessary for the establishment of an historical fact, namely, time, place and incident. The absence of either element may make romance or fiction, but not history. The first section is a chronological table of important events in the history of Idaho, and while the data, in some instances, is approximate rather than absolute, it is published merely as a beginning, which in time should be corrected until the events in Idaho's history are chronicled as historically accurate. The second section, that of nomenclature, is published for the purpose of awakening an interest in geographical lore and historical antiquity to the end that efforts will be made by others to preserve and perpetuate the origin and reason for our State names. The third section is a bibliography of Idaho history such as has been used in the compilation of this work, and credit is given to such writers furnishing the chief thought for each heading, which acknowledgment immediately follows the article. It is expected that this book will aid teachers in their work, help students in their research and become a handy reference for the general reader. If such results are achieved, then the purpose for which this effort was made will have been attained by the author.
