Gebauer and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report documents historical changes in and the present status of water bird populations associated with Burlington Bay at the west end of Lake Ontario. The report will provide a historical database for the water bird component of the Remedial Action Plan for Hamilton Harbour. Records for 151 species of water birds associated with the study area were located and summarized to determine the occurrence and abundance of these species pre-1900, 1900-47, 1948-69, and 1970-90. The records were summarized for three subareas of the bay, Hamilton Harbour, Cootes Paradise, and Windermere Basin.

Book excerpt: "The present publication follows an earlier report by Vermeer and Butler (1989) that described the physical and biological environment, prey organisms, and ecology of waterbirds in the Strait of Georgia. Here, we compare the year-round abundance, distribution, and energy consumption of birds in five large estuaries and one small urban estuary in the Strait of Georgia. We use the traditional definition of an estuary: the lower deltaic portion of a river and the nearby shallow waters in the freshwater plume"--Introd.

This book was released on 1999 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Razorbill Alca torda is one of the rarest breeding auks in North America. A number of surveys have been conducted at breeding colonies in recent years to estimate population size and trends. Summarizing the available data, we estimate that approximately 38 000 pairs of Razorbills currently breed in eastern North America. The largest concentrations of Razorbills breed on the Quebec North Shore and in coastal southern Labrador; smaller numbers breed in the Quebec portion of the gulf and estuary of the St. Lawrence River, Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and St. Pierre and Miquelon.
