Book Jesus Christ The Real Story

Download or read book Jesus Christ The Real Story written by United Church of God and published by United Church of God. This book was released on 2018-01-02 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of Jesus Christ goes much deeper than His crucifixion and resurrection. Few will dispute that a man named Jesus Christ lived 2,000 years ago and that He was a great teacher who impacted the world. Christ made a controversial claim—that He was the very Son of God, the long-prophesied Messiah—causing religious authorities in Jerusalem to reject Him, hate Him and eventually succeeded in having Him put to death. Likewise, the local Roman civil authorities also saw Him as a threat and became complicit in His execution. The religions of His day, both Judaism and paganism, opposed the growth of His teachings and used unlawful and violent means to try to destroy the Church He founded. The government of Rome also came to vigorously persecute the followers of this Jewish teacher from Galilee. Today, there is much confusion and questions concerning this controversial figure. Where can you go for the answers? The Bible. This Bible Study aid booklet, "Jesus Christ: The Real Story" will help explain what is written in the Bible about Jesus Christ. You can discover the answers to these questions and more: Who was Jesus Christ of Nazareth? Where did He come from? When was Jesus Christ born? What did Jesus teach? Was He God in the flesh? What did Jesus look like? Was He only a man? Why did He die? Discover the true, fascinating story that so few understand. The story of the greatest Man who ever lived and the misunderstood message He preached—the gospel (good news) of the coming Kingdom of God! Inside this Bible Study Aid ebook: "Perhaps the boldest claim Jesus made about His identity was the statement, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM” (John:8:58)...What was going on here? Jesus was revealing His identity as the actual One whom the Jews knew as God in the Old Testament." "The New Testament writers cite messianic prophecies from the Old Testament more than 130 times. By some estimates the Old Testament contains 300 prophetic passages that describe who the Messiah is and what He will do. Of these, 60 are major prophecies. What are the chances of these prophecies being fulfilled in one person?" "A careful analysis of Scripture, however, clearly indicates that December 25 is an unlikely date for Christ’s birth. Here are two primary reasons..." "How can we fit “three days and three nights” between a Friday-afternoon crucifixion and a Sunday-morning resurrection?"

Book The True Story of Jesus the Christ

Download or read book The True Story of Jesus the Christ written by Thomas Kerrins and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2011-11 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 'The True Story of Jesus the Christ', author Thomas Kerrins examines the validity of the Story of Creation. To validate the Old Testament narrative of our history, that Jesus himself exists only because of Mankind's rebellion toward God starting with Adam, Thomas uses as evidence the Flood; the trials and tribulations of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and the clues found beneath the sands of the Middle East. He also looks at the followers of Jesus, to find out who they were and what role they played in the beginning of Christianity. Many experts and theologians are quoted, such as Dr. Juris Zarins, who shows through satellite imagery of Iraq, Iran, and Syria, the existence of fossilized rivers pinpointing the possible existence of Eden. Also quoted is Henry Rawlinson, who discovered the Behistune inscription that provided a tool to read another version of creation from a civilization 800 miles from where the Old Testament version of Genesis was written. Furthermore, archaeological evidence will be presented to validate such events as the Exodus, the Kings of Israel, and the invasions from Babylon and Persia. Understanding Jesus was to know who he was and what was his mission.

Book The Life of Jesus Christ

Download or read book The Life of Jesus Christ written by Russell Shaw and published by Our Sunday Visitor. This book was released on 2021-07-23 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How often have you heard the Gospel at Sunday Mass and wondered, "What happens next?" Often, our only experience of the Gospels is of those isolated segments taken out of context, like unassembled pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, rather than the story of our Savior's life. The Life of Jesus Christ: Understanding the Story of the Gospels aims to change that experience. Author Russell Shaw weaves together the events of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John's narratives in chronological order to capture a true and rounded picture of Jesus’ life. The Life of Jesus Christ is the scriptural companion you've been searching for. Together, the four Gospels reveal Jesus Christ, God Incarnate, as a man of complexity and depth — compassionate but stern, who knew how to laugh and how to cry, a charismatic leader uninterested in worldly power, a subtle thinker who drew sublime messages from ordinary life. With Shaw guiding you, you'll truly get to know the Son of God in a new way. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Russell Shaw is an author and journalist who has written more than twenty books. For eighteen years, he was secretary for public affairs for the National Conference of Catholic Bishops/United States Catholic Conference. He later oversaw media relations for the Knights of Columbus for ten years.

Book Tout savoir sur J sus Christ

Download or read book Tout savoir sur J sus Christ written by Pierre Puccio and published by Iggybook. This book was released on 2016-11-16T00:00:00+01:00 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: Illuminating the life of Jesus -- his historical context, his religious teachings, and the changing perceptions of him over the centuries -- this lavishly illustrated volume offers one of the most comprehensive and authoritative accounts available of this great and charismatic man. Featuring some 180 illustrations (including 20 full-color maps) and numerous boxed and sidebar features that shed light on interesting facets of the story, Jesus Christ paints a vivid portrait of Christ's life from the Nativity to the Ascension. Drawing on the Gospels and other evidence, J.R. Porter disentangles many of the mysteries and confusions surrounding the life of the historical Jesus -- such as the role of women in his career and the political issues surrounding his trial -- and paints a detailed background portrait of all aspects of society in first-century Palestine, from the fishing communities of Lake Galilee to life under Roman rule. Porter also explores the teachings of Christ, looking at his use of parable, his view of Hebrew Scriptures and his attitude toward the law, and his thinking about the Kingdom of God. And the book assesses the many interpretations of Christ down through the ages, from his immediate impact on the early Church, to the changing image of Jesus in art and illustration, to his perceived role as apocalyptic preacher, revolutionary, mystic, and prophet. A marvelous gift at Easter time or for a child's confirmation, this attractive, informative volume gives us an inspiring portrait of one of the most complex figures in world history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What really happened to Jesus? Did he rise from the dead, and if not why do Christians believe that he did? Did he have a plan and, if so, what was it? Did he accomplish his purpose or did the plan fail? If it failed, what were the consequences? Steuart Campbell, once a Christian, takes a rationalist look at the problem of Christian origins and shows that no previous writer has completely solved the riddle of Jesus. Here he shows us a new hypothesis, one that explains Jesus curious behaviour. Here is Jesus in historical context, the leader of an obscure Jewish sect which believed that it was fulfilling a divine plan revealed in the Scriptures. This plan required the Messiah to die and rise again to become the king of Israel, throwing the Romans out of Judaea and even replacing the Emperor as ruler of the known world. Read how Jesus expected to accomplish this. The author displays immense knowledge of the Bible and the history of the Jews and he explains many mysteries. He builds on the work of many other authors and constructs what is surely the true explanation for the origin of Christianity. This should be the last word on the historical Jesus. It is certainly an excellent review of the many attempts to solve the mystery.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
