Book excerpt: Unlike everyone else, she lives in a nightmare. The harsh, unfeeling edge of a captor forces her to obey and threatens people she loves if she does not. She is not ready to be labeled someone's property, despite her fear of him. When his eyes became green, her favorite color before, she realized she was in grave danger. Her future was full of dreams, but it now appears to be nothing as she battles the monsters of the past and present within her. Life is a war in which only the fittest will survive. But the issue remains: Can she bear this suffering and find freedom again?
Download or read book Submission written by Michel Houellebecq and published by Random House. This book was released on 2016-09-08 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the 2022 French Presidential election looms, two candidates emerge as favourites: Marine Le Pen of the Front National, and the charismatic Muhammed Ben Abbes of the growing Muslim Fraternity. Forming a controversial alliance with the political left to block the Front National’s alarming ascendency, Ben Abbes sweeps to power, and overnight the country is transformed. This proves to be the death knell of French secularism, as Islamic law comes into force: women are veiled, polygamy is encouraged and, for our narrator François – misanthropic, middle-aged and alienated – life is set on a new course. Submission is a devastating satire, comic and melancholy by turns, and a profound meditation on faith and meaning in Western society.
Download or read book Eternal Submission written by Jonathan J. Routley and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-04-23 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christians currently agree that Jesus was submissive to God the Father during his incarnation and time on earth leading to the cross. The issue at hand is whether or not Jesus the Son is eternally submissive or subordinate to the Father in terms of their relations. On one side of the debate are those who say that the Son is only subordinate in authority during his earthly ministry but is coequal both ontologically and relationally with the Father eternally. On the other side are those who claim that the Son's obedience and submission during his earthly ministry demonstrate an eternal, voluntary submission to the Father so that the Son is always subordinate relationally while remaining fully equal with the Father ontologically. This book examines the eternal submission of the Son from both biblical and theological perspectives. The author surveys some of the recent trinitarian debate and engages with critics of eternal submission before setting out to provide biblical and theological support for the doctrine. The implications of this debate for theology proper and gender relationships in the church and home are also addressed. Whether you are new to the topic or a seasoned reader of the theological debate, this book will be a helpful resource.
Download or read book Cooperation Without Submission written by Justin B. Richland and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2021-09-06 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Justin B. Richland continues his study of the relationship between American law and government and Native American law and tribal governance in his new manuscript Cooperation without Submission: Indigenous Jurisdictions in Native Nation-US Engagements. Richland looks at the way Native Americans and government officials talk about their relationship and seek to resolve conflicts over the extent of Native American authority in tribal lands when it conflicts with federal law and policy. The American federal government is supposed to engage in meaningful consultations with the tribes about issues that affect the tribes under long standing Federal law which accorded the federal government the responsibility of a trustee to the tribes. It requires the government to act in the best interest of the tribes and to interpret agreements with tribes in a way that respects their rights and interests. At least partly based on a patronizing view of Native Americans, the law has also sought to protect the interests of the tribes from those who might take advantage of them. In Cooperation without Submission, Richland looks closely at the language employed by both sides in consultations between tribes and government agencies focusing on the Hopi tribe but also discussing other cases. Richland shows how tribes conduct these meetings using language that demonstrates their commitment to nation-to -nation interdependency, while federal agents appear to approach these consultations with the assumption that federal l aw is supreme and ultimately authoritative"--

More often than not, pastors tend to prioritize sermon preparation and delivery as their primary tasks, when actually their first task should be their own spiritual health. It is for this purpose that this book is written--to encourage pastors to soul care before sermon preparation. If pastors will prepare their own hearts, the sermon will fall in line and permeate the hearts of the listeners.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Another wonderful ABDL/FemDom novel by accomplished author - Colin Milton Scott and Samantha's marriage was reaching that most treacherous of troubles - complacency. But Samantha was not one to let her relationship perish without trying everything she could. At the suggestion of a friend, Samantha went to www.couplesupport.com, read up on their program and made an appointment for her and Scott. As she found out later, the guiding principle of their counselling was the fact that all men are essentially big 'boys'. But what was truly special was that they understood that some men were little boys and some were really just babies. A wonderful story of reconciliation and success with a very unusual (to other people!) training program.

Download or read book Luke 6 40 and the Theme of Likeness Education in the New Testament written by Thomas W. Hudgins and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2014-01-07 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does Jesus mean when he says, "A disciple is not above his teacher, but each disciple, after being fully trained, will be like his teacher" (Luke 6:40)? This verse has been quoted, cited, and referenced in vast amounts of Christian education and discipleship literature. Nevertheless, the verse is nearly untouched in exegetical discussions with the exception of source-critical analyses. From this verse arises an undeveloped theme in the Gospel of Luke and the New Testament--the theme of likeness education. Using content analysis methodology, Luke 6:40--one of the keystone passages in Christian education literature--serves as the starting point for mining out the theme of likeness education in the New Testament. This study consists of three concentric areas of investigation: (1) Luke 6:40 and its immediate context, (2) Luke-Acts, and (3) the New Testament corpus.
