Download or read book Louisiana Bucket List Adventure and Memory Journal written by Black Swan and published by . This book was released on 2021-10-26 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was created for those who seek adventure everywhere, who enjoy living wild and staying in touch with nature. What is a Bucket List? Unsure what a bucket list is? Let''s take a minute to explain this. A bucket list is a collection of experiences you''d like to have before you kick the bucket. It might include places to visit, people to see, foods to eat, or any number of other things. Most people keep one long bucket list that covers every part of their lives. However, we think it''s much easier to keep several smaller lists. We like to split these lists up based on places we intend to travel to and have been making one for each state. Below is our Louisiana bucket list book. Hopefully, it works as inspiration so you can create a must-do Louisiana travel list of your own. Participate in the 50 books - 50 states challenge - with us! The old-fashioned way of travel with any bucket list usually looks as follows... You''re buying an expensive atlas, which includes plenty of beautiful photographs and descriptions of the destinations to which you plan to travel. Before you leave the house, within a matter of weeks, You will conclude, that in fact, you''ve seen everything already and nothing can phase you. A lot of people are giving up at this point and are ending their ,,life adventure" flipping through book pages. However, if you choose to go on a trip, you do every single thing, which a book tells you to do. You''re following the book schedule. Instead of being one of many, stay for a while and listen, what our way of traveling can look like. Take your Louisiana Bucket List Adventure & Memory Journal, pack your bag and go. Have you ever wondered about having your atlas with many beautiful pictures? You can easily make it on your own. The best descriptions are those, which are created by you. Describe precisely what caught your attention, or maybe mention the animals you encountered on your way? There must also be a place for a description of how you spent time with your family or friends. Do you want to get to know the most beautiful breathtaking natural wonders from anywhere? You have to do it on your own. Create your memory book, which you''ll be able to come back to for years, and then imagine the feeling of accomplishing your ,,bucket list" like true native Americans. The shelf is not a place for this book... The aim of it is to inspire You on the biggest life trip and make your dreams come true. The interior of the book includes: 1. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Louisiana's wonderful wetlands, coastal marshes, and swamps have meant much to different visitors over the years--sustenance for fisherman and trappers, food supplies for hunters, inspiration for artists and writers, hideouts for hermits and pirates, unbroken solitude for weary souls and assorted dreamers clinging to a vanishing way of life. But these wonderful wild spots are so fragile, and every year brings the loss of more of them. We have been so careless about our environment in the past, so sure our natural resources would last forever. Now we know better. Noted photographer Henry Cancienne has a passion for preserving our unique natural environments through his spectacular images, and in this book he shares some of his favorite walking trails and drives, most free and easily accessible via raised boardwalks and well-maintained paths.

Book Historic Hiking Trails

Download or read book Historic Hiking Trails written by Steve Rajtar and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2012-10-03 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approximately 900 hiking trails in the United States take hikers along routes or past sites of historical importance and offer commemorative embroidered patches or other souvenirs of the outing. These trails allow hikers to gain a new appreciation for history and actually experience it, instead of only reading about it--and have something to show for their hike. The first comprehensive guide to those trails, this work covers routes in all fifty states and the District of Columbia as well as interstate trails. The book categorizes each as historic, meaning that it played some significant role in history; historical, meaning that it takes the hiker by or into buildings or sites that have some relationship to a significant person or event, but do not themselves figure in history; nature or scenic, because of the wildlife or scenery available along the way that can be viewed along with the historical site; or recreational, meaning that the trail was established for the long-distance hiker and history buff. Each entry also tells who the trail's sponsor is, if alternate means of transportation are allowed, location, length, route, type of terrain, what type of awards are given and any associated costs, registration requirements, and sites along the trail.

Book The Road to Damascus and Beyond

Download or read book The Road to Damascus and Beyond written by George Sandul and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-03-31 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2003, at the age of sixty-two, I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. This is the story about that hike. The Appalachian Trail starts on Springer Mountain, Georgia, and goes through fourteen states in a rather meandering way ending on Mount Katahdin, Maine, a distance of roughly 2,175 miles (depending on the source of information as to the exact distance). My hike started on April 5. I arrived at the base of Mount Katahdin on September 14 and waited in nearby Millinocket until September 21 to complete the hike and climb the final 5.2 miles to the summit. The final day, I was accompanied by our youngest son, Will, who had flown to Boston (from Salt Lake City), rented a car, and drove to Millinocket to join me. Sometimes plans do work out perfectly for September 21 was Kris and my fortieth wedding anniversarythis to emphasize the importance of commitment, which is what this story is all about. Thru-hiking the AT has taken on different meanings through the years since Earl V. Shaffer did it for the first time in 1948, as documented in his book Walking with Spring. His was the epitome, the purist approach as a backpacking venture, carrying his own supplies, tenting and staying in shelters, and walking the entire distance along the designated path as it then existed, but has been subject to a lot of changes since his time. My intention was to do it as closely as possible, adhering to this purist attitude without all of the designer methodology that has come to be acceptable for being considered a modern thru-hiker. And except for 1.1 milesthis is covered in the bookthat is what I did.
