Book Demon Gate Series Volume One

Download or read book Demon Gate Series Volume One written by Nicholas Bella and published by . This book was released on 2020-01-22 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was my lunch break, so why did I have to pullover the jerk speeding down the street in an Aston Martin? If ever there was a time to look the other way, that was the moment, but ignoring crime in progress isn't my thing. My name is Brian Cordero, a cop with the Alandale Police Force and I had no idea just how much my life was going to change the instant my fingers brushed Raphael Ledeo's. Now, I've been turned from human to demon, and that is just the beginning of this heap of trouble I've gotten myself into. Turns out, there are eight gates to hell, and one of them--the worst one--is open and a secret demon-hunting organization wants my help to close it. I'm in way over my head and It doesn't help that the demon inside of me lusts for the demon inside of Raphael, a man I'd rather steer way clear of. God, will I be able to resist the temptation and get used to my new demon life? I just don't know. Warning: This volume contains strong adult content not meant for sensitive eyes. The novelettes in this serial will be filled with dark, twisted, raunchy, steamy and even a little romantic scene between powerful, sexy men that will either offend you or get ya revved up. This series will not be pulling any punches, and it won't apologize for hurting your feelings, either. You'll find no fluff and ruffles here. These demons play hard and they fight dirty.

But when that human is also an inept hero who tosses his lunch whenever he gets stressed out? Breaking the connection becomes priority one. Plus, there’s a mystery at the heart of their bond that needs unraveling. When the magical object that bound them broke, it weakened the barrier between Widdershins and the Underworld. The duo hopes to find a wizard in the City of Seven who will be able to help with both problems. Follow along as our demon, Lord Malgon and our hero, Sir Reginald, make themselves unwelcome with fairies, humans, dwarves and giants—all while racing to get to the City of Seven before Mal’s supremely evil brother. In this debut humorous fantasy adventure novel, Kincaid pairs an endearing cast of characters with expert world-building and laugh-out-loud dialogue. The Demon, The Hero, and The City of Seven will leave a Mal and Reg shaped stamp on your heart.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Getting kidnapped was never part of my life plan. But being rescued opened up a whole world of crazy. It's not easy being the only human at the Community of Species Government-and especially not when you're the rescue case. Two years ago, I was planning to go to college, have a wild time, then settle into a normal life. Instead, I was kidnapped, spent months being a test subject, was in hiding for nearly a year, and then found out that my whole existence is a science experiment conducted by the bad guys. It's definitely time to reassess. My rescuers at CSG have been awesome... mostly. They gave me a job, a home, and a support network. But the whole demons, vampires, shifters thing is not easy to get used to. Especially when one particular vampire makes me want to take up stake sharpening for a hobby. How can someone be over eight centuries old and have the maturity of a drunk frat boy? The thing is, teenage mentality or not, Andrew is a fierce protector. With the bad guys still on the loose, I need someone like that on my side. Plus, did I mention that he's not hard to look at? I could stare at him all day if only he never opened his mouth. As we race to find my former captor before he can find me, life takes another twist and upends my world all over again. This time, though, I'm ready-after all, I've got an eight-hundred-year-old vampire at my back. What could possibly go wrong?

Dee Moreno is out of options. Her home life sucks (to put it mildly), and she's about to get booted from her boarding school--the only place she's ever felt free--for lack of funds. But this is a world where demons exist, and the demons are there to make deals: one human body part in exchange for one wish come true. The demon who Dee approaches doesn't trade in the usual arms and legs, however. He's only interested in her heart. And what comes after Dee makes her deal is a nightmare far bigger, far more monstrous than anything she ever could have imagined. Reality is turned on its head, and Dee has only her fellow "heartless," the charming but secretive James Lancer, to keep her grounded. As something like love grows between them amid an otherworldly threat, Dee begins to wonder: Can she give James her heart when it's no longer hers to give? In The Hearts We Sold, demons can be outwitted, hearts can be reclaimed, monsters can be fought, and love isn't impossible. This book will steal your heart and break it, and leave you begging for more.

Book Maxwell s Demon

  • Publisher : HarperCollins
  • Release : 2021-02-09

Download or read book Maxwell s Demon written by Steven Hall and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2021-02-09 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This autumn, life is catching up with Thomas Quinn. Five years ago, his sometime friend Andrew Black wrote a mystery novel that sold a million copies and then disappeared. Now could it be that Quinn is being stalked by the hero of Black’s book? His wife, Imogen, usually has the answers, but she’s working on the other side of the world and talking to her on webcam just isn’t the same. Quinn finds himself in a world that might well be coming apart at the seams. If he can find Black, he might start finding answers. Maxwell’s Demon forges an entirely new blend of mystery—somewhere between detective fiction, ghost story and philosophical quest. Providing the same white-knuckle thrills as Hall’s first novel, The Raw Shark Texts, this new book is also a freewheeling investigation into the magic power locked inside the alphabet, love through the looking glass, the bond between parents and children and, at its heart, the quest for meaning in a world that, with each passing season, seems to become more chaotic and untidy.

Book The Demon of the Continent

Download or read book The Demon of the Continent written by Joshua David Bellin and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2012-06-30 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the study and teaching of Native American oral and written art have flourished. During the same period, there has been a growing recognition among historians, anthropologists, and ethnohistorians that Indians must be seen not as the voiceless, nameless, faceless Other but as people who had a powerful impact on the historical development of the United States. Literary critics, however, have continued to overlook Indians as determinants of American—rather than specifically Native American—literature. The notion that the presence of Indian peoples shaped American literature as a whole remains unexplored. In The Demon of the Continent, Joshua David Bellin probes the complex interrelationships among Native American and Euro-American cultures and literatures from the mid-seventeenth to the mid-nineteenth centuries. He asserts that cultural contact is at the heart of American literature. For Bellin, previous studies of Indians in American literature have focused largely on the images Euro-American writers constructed of indigenous peoples, and have thereby only perpetuated those images. Unlike authors of those earlier studies, Bellin refuses to reduce Indians to static antagonists or fodder for a Euro-American imagination. Drawing on works such as Henry David Thoreau's Walden, William Apess' A Son of the Forest, and little known works such as colonial Indian conversion narratives, he explores the ways in which these texts reflect and shape the intercultural world from which they arose. In doing so, Bellin reaches surprising conclusions: that Walden addresses economic clashes and partnerships between Indians and whites; that William Bartram's Travels encodes competing and interpenetrating systems of Indian and white landholding; that Catherine Sedgwick's Hope Leslie enacts the antebellum drama of Indian conversion; that James Fenimore Cooper and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow struggled with Indian authors such as George Copway and David Cusick for physical, ideological, and literary control of the nation. The Demon of the Continent proves Indians to be actors in the dynamic processes in which America and its literature are inescapably embedded. Shifting the focus from textual images to the sites of material, ideological, linguistic, and aesthetic interaction between peoples, Bellin reenvisions American literature as the product of contact, conflict, accommodation, and interchange.
