Book History of Romanian Technology and Industry

Download or read book History of Romanian Technology and Industry written by Dorel Banabic and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-10-23 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume showcases the valuable achievements of the Romanian technology and industry worldwide. It started from the premise that the history of Romanian technique is scarcely known outside the borders of Romania. The main Romanian contributions to the world’s technological heritage are missing, except for a few names in the field of aviation, from the great encyclopedias and dictionaries published worldwide. This is due, among other reasons, to the insufficient promotion in widely spoken languages of the history of Romanian technology. The multidisciplinary approach of the volumes means that the field of technology had to be split into several branches. The present volume includes the following industries: electrical engineering, energy technology, biomedicine, maritime and rail transport, automotive industry, aviation. The history of engineering societies, of engineering education, of intellectual property, and of inventions, as well as a synopsis of the personalities of Romanian engineering have been tackled in separate chapters. For each field, are engaged the collaboration of authors who have already published a history of their field. Certain chapters were drafted with the aid of specialists who have played the part of policy makers in the elaboration of development strategies for Romania and who are familiar not only with the facts and the history of their field, but also with the ‘philosophy’ behind its development.

Book A History of the University in Europe Volume 4 Universities since 1945

This book was released on 2010-12-16 with total page 661 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the final volume in a four-part series covering the development of the university in Europe (east and west) from its origins to the present day, focusing on a number of major themes viewed from a European perspective. The originality of the series lies in its comparative, interdisciplinary, collaborative and transnational nature. It deals also with the content of what was taught at the universities, but its main purpose is an appreciation of the role and structures of the universities as seen against a backdrop of changing conditions, ideas and values. This volume deals with the reconstruction and epoch-making expansion of higher education after 1945, which led to the triumph of modern science. It traces the development of the relationship between universities and national states, teachers and students, their ambitions and political activities. Special attention is paid to fundamental changes in the content of teaching at the universities.

Book Recent Social Trends in France 1960 1990

Download or read book Recent Social Trends in France 1960 1990 written by Michel Forsé and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 1993 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the three decades from 1960 to 1990, French society underwent a spectacular transformation due to the baby boom, which was particularly broad-based and prolonged in France and caused the population to climb by a full one-third. At the same time, the French economy expanded and the pace of modernization picked up, with the result that the wealth of the French quadrupled in a single generation. The turning point between the reconstruction and development period and the period of profound social change appears to have been 1965. The baby boom was over by then, and the production system was shifting in orientation. No longer dominated by the growth of basic industries, production was now starting to focus on consumer goods and services.

Book Handbook of Research on Study Abroad Programs and Outbound Mobility

This book was released on 2016-08-24 with total page 938 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Millions of students seek short- and long-term study abroad options every year, and this trend is a key illustration of the internationalization of higher education. Because a global perspective has become mandatory in the largely globalized workforce, many institutions look to study abroad programs to prepare their students. This outbound mobility has the potential to contribute to greater understanding between cultures, countries, and individuals. The Handbook of Research on Study Abroad Programs and Outbound Mobility offers a comprehensive look into motivations for and opportunities through all forms of outbound mobility programs. By providing empirically-based research, this publication establishes the benefits, difficulties, and rewards of building a framework to support international students and programs. It is an invaluable resource for academics, students, policy makers, course developers, counselors, and cross-cultural student advisors.
